Hito Presents: The New Legendary Lottery

PREFACE

With The Legendary Lottery at an end, I wanted to remake this into a regular event given it was pretty successful. There were some logistical problems with running the old lottery, however, namely how unexpected server restarts meant people lost their entries and I had to guess who to refund.

Also, I am still not sure how fair the system I implemented was so I am back with a new regular lottery and a new fairer system!



THE NEW LEGENDARY LOTTERY




HOW DOES IT WORK?

1. Message Hito or Ainu in-game, or Hito on the forum to enter.
2. Think of a number between 1 and 10,000 and pay 100k for each guess.
3. Every Friday entries close and entrants are posted, you have the weekend to check I recorded your guess correctly.
4. On Monday the draw will be made and the event will start over.

• For a guess to win it must be within 100, above or below, the winning number.
• First place is the closest within 100 to the winning number.
• Second place is the second closest to within 100 of the winning number.
• If no one wins all the prize money rolls over to next week.
• You can come both first and second (if you have 2 or more guesses).

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? WHAT ARE THE WINNINGS?

• One guess costs 100k.
• The winnings are 90% of the sales from guesses. So every 90k from a guess sale goes towards winnings.
• First place winners get 70% of the prize pool.
• Second place winners get 30% of the prize pool.

EXAMPLES (READ THESE BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS)

You bought a ticket and guessed the number 5,000 and the result from !roll 10000 was 5095; you're a first-place winner! You win 70% of the prize pool!

You and someone else bought tickets. You guessed 4100, they guessed 3900 and the result from !roll 10000 was 4000. You both win and split the prize from the first-place tier. So half of that 70% prize pool each!

You bought two tickets and guessed the numbers 3500 and 3600 and the result from !roll 10000 was 3550. No one else is within 100 of the 3550 result. You win both first and second place! So you win 100% of the prize pool (70 and 30)!

 

For those who are unsure or unwilling to participate can you please shed their concerns.

 

But it is a lottery, like the real life lotteries where you choose numbers and get the win if you match the numbers based on the RNG draw from a machine.

That's exactly what a lottery is. A lottery is a draw (an event determined) by chance.
