Other Maple Legends on Linux Modifier keys don't repeat

I'm having an issue with legends on linux. (Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon)
so the game boots and runs fine (except at high res but it is noted as unstable)

The problem is when i press and hold Shift, Crtl, or alt there is no repeat, it only does the action once, and i cant find any way to enable this on linux.

does anyone here know a solution to this? ​
