Hey! I'm currently working on an auction site like basil for MapleLegends. I'm mainly doing this for the learning experience because I've never really done much web application development. I made this thread to track development and take suggestions.

Yeah I was thinking that would be a good idea too for buy-out auctions. My main concern is people leaving up auctions that have already been bought out. It would slowly diminish the meaningfulness of the FM spot on the auction. It would be nice to have access to the hired merchants table in MapleLegends so that I could automatically remove auctions that were bought out in FM, but then we'd have to link MapleAuction accounts with MapleLegends accounts which requires a whole other level of trust between Kimberly and I.

I agree. I'm using Flask to develop this and Flask-Login takes care of password hashing and SQLAlchemy(a fancy ORM) takes care of SQL Injection. Now I just need to prevent people from using bots to spam post auctions, and spamming in general. Fake bids are also going to be an issue so I'm going to implement a rating/honor system and then possibly block people from bidding if they renege on too many auctions. I'll worry about SSL encryption once I push it to production.

That makes sense. If you or anyone knows any other GM only items please let me know. I'm sure there's a few scattered in the tradeable database.

 

I'll be using a combinations of recaptcha and time delays. Some functions will have a recaptcha and some will have a time delay, or both. reCaptcha might be used more often if a user is doing things too quick(for a human).

That's possible. It depends on if the color is based on the increase in stats or the upgrade number. I'm not exactly sure how that works. I was probably going to add an option to include a small screenshot of the item.
