Windows 8/8.1/10 Maplelegends Client in Full Screen does weird things to my Second Montior

    Hi,

I'm using Windows 11 actually, the game has been running great.
However I just have a small issue, where when I make the game fullscreen on my main monitor it will takeover my second vertical monitor with the windows / desktop behind maplelegends.
For example if I have chrome open behind maplelegends client when it's full screen, I can see half of the chrome windows zoomed in on my second vertical screen.

(sorry for the photo of a screen, there just wasn't a way to print screen this one)

This has been happening since I first got into the game, so it's not specific to the recent client update.

The only thing I have changed in the .ini file is HD Client is set to = 2

I have tried toggling High DPI scaling in the window settings, this doesn't seem to effect it at all.

My main screen is 2560x1440 landscape and my second screen is 1920x1080 portrait both 144hz.

If anyone has any suggestions to try here that would be great.

When you put maple in full screen windows will use all properties of that screen and apply it to both. This is also why your screen probably goes in 800x600 in hd0 and also why the the game tabs out if you move your mouse to second screen. Borderless windowed would fix that, but its not something we provide yet.

Ah okay thanks, would there be any workarounds to this?
I understand the game will tab out when I click out of the game when in full screen, but it would still be nice to see other open programs on the second monitor as per normal.
edit: a friend of mine with an almost identical monitor setup says his does not behave like this and nothing on the second monitor seems obstructed.

So I worked out why my brother's PC does not have the same behaviour.
His second screen is on the left, mine is on the right.

When I changed this in windows to the top one, it does not effect visuals on the second monitor.
However if I leave it the position it is in (the bottom is normal setup) it effects the second screen.
Monitor "2" in both these options is my "Main Display".

Can anyone think of any reason it would be happening when the second monitor positioning is on the right side?

I believe MapleLegends defaults to opening up on your main monitor, which should be the Monitor labeled as "1"

Have you tried keeping the same setup as the bottom visual, but switching the monitors numbers so that it says "1" on the horizontal monitor, and "2" on the vertical monitor?

    Hi Ariami,

Thanks for that suggestion, I swapped monitor ports to make sure the numerical value matched up.
I got excited as the behaviour changed, but it seems as though it just neatly makes anything in the background on my main display, go over to the right screen.

Although it is one step forward as the background programs now showing on the second screen at least seem to fit properly!

    I've tried messing around
    upload_2022-3-30_10-52-38.png
With all of these scaling settings, nothing seems to effect it though.
Since I swapped the physical port, I attempted the top configuration again (with second screen on the left). The windows stay the same with maplelegends full screen but all my desktop icons go behind them now.

It really feels like I can fix this with messing with something.
I'll keep fiddling, if you've got any other suggestions I'd love to hear them.

    Thanks,

    Jack.

If you're still playing Full Screen with MapleLegends, I believe the other windows/programs moving over to your second monitor is intended.

There might be a setting somewhere to allow programs to run in the background on your main monitor without them switching over to the other monitor, but I'm not entirely sure as I play the game in the Windowed version.
Perhaps try asking your friend/brother to share the details of their setups so that you can copy it for your own use?

But I'm glad I was able to resolve at least one part of your issue.

    Have a good one SlimeGrin

His second monitor is on the left, I unfortunately can't put mine on the left physically haha!
It does seem like it's intending to move over, when you say setting somewhere do you mean related to maplelegends or windows?

Ahh I see, I found this response in a random windows forum.
    upload_2022-3-30_12-40-17.png
This would explain why second monitor on the left is ok, but second monitor on the right is not.

I guess I'll just have to deal until hopefully one day fullscreen windowed is a thing.

    Thanks!
