MapleLegends Smart Buff System

The Smart Buff system is the way in which MapleLegends processes the application of specific buff types.

If a buff is active on your character, casting or receiving a weaker version of it will not overwrite your current one; instead, the new cast will be ignored.

Currently, this mechanic only applies to buffs of the following basic stat types:

• Physical / Magic Attack
• Physical / Magic Defense
• Accuracy
• Avoidability
• Speed
• Jump

For example: you have a level 10 Haste buff (speed, jump) applied.

• A party member casts their level 3 Haste buff.
  • Their cast will be ignored by your character.

• Another party member casts their level 13 Haste buff.
  • Their cast will overwrite your current Haste.

• You recast your level 10 Haste buff.
  • As you now have Haste level 13 active, the cast will be ignored.

This system gives more freedom to players with party buffs that may interfere with each other, either due to level differences or to effect variations.
