If you are planning to sell, purchase, or trade artwork for meso on in-game items, please refer to our ToS first:
    Updated Feb, 2023:
Due to what we've identified as a recurring issue of artists being commissioned for too many pieces that result in either the artist or commissioner to quit before the order is received, we've decided to impose a new rule regarding the sale of art on MapleLegends.

Artists can only accept payments for ONE COMMISSION AT A TIME. While artists may continue to have waitlists, they can no longer require players to pay, unless they are #1 in the queue and the artist is not currently working on any other outstanding commissions for MapleLegends.

We hope this allows artists to continue their work on MapleLegends unhindered, while still protecting art buyers.

    -------
    [MapleLegends Art Shop Rules]

    1. Record/Log Transactions
If related to a MapleLegends transaction (MapleLegends meso or item for artwork), please be sure to make the exchange public on your thread (some sort of order form), or if the order was made outside of MapleLegends, but still consists of being paid in MapleLegends currency/items: Somewhere in your thread, please be sure to list: 1. Buyer's IGN 2. Amount they paid 3. Their order (What you sold/traded them.)

Artists can only accept payments for ONE COMMISSION AT A TIME. While artists may continue to have waitlists, they can no longer require players to pay, unless they are #1 in the queue and the artist is not currently working on any other outstanding commissions for MapleLegends.

This is to make sure that we are able to verify the transactions so it does NOT get considered a RWT or scam case.

    2. Selling/Posting Artwork not fully drawn by you (F2U Bases, Edited Images, Picrew/doll-maker-like websites, AI Generated Images, etc.)
If you are planning to sell or post creations on the MapleLegends forums that weren't entirely created by you (AI Generated Images, Bases, Doll-maker sites liek Picrew, Heavily edited images, aka things you did not create from scratch), please disclose in your main post what exactly you are selling.

The community has the right to know that they are not purchasing original artwork, but instead a visual that was created from pre-existing or edited works.

    In the case of selling:
    a) Bases: F2U (free to use) content such as bases, please be sure you are using the base as intended by the original creator and abide by their ToS. If the creator requires you to post a source, please do.)
    b) Picrew and other doll-maker sites: Make sure you abide by the original artist(s) ToS and rules regarding commercial-use of their assets. Credits/Link of the original doll/picrew must be posted.
    c) Heavily Referenced/Edited images: Please post the original reference/image.
    d) AI Generated Images: Add the source/program (NovelAI/etc.) visible, somewhere in your post.

TLDR; Give credit/source where credit/source is due.

If contacted by the original creators and deemed by MapleLegends Staff that the seller did not comply with the original creator(s) rules or get permission, we will be removing the thread entirely --and depending on the severity of the case (total meso profit/etc.) will act accordingly.

If you have any questions/concerns, please comment below and we will do our best to answer.

Is there a way to better clarify the bolded area, because I find this rather a bit confusing.

This seems like if someone decides to sell art they can use ML forums to monetize their art. (as in actual real life currency)

An example would be, how people use Twitter to sell their art, being if someone doesn't play the game at all just create a forums account here to sell their art?

    Hi!

I was thinking more like Discord! (Our Discord specifically)-- There was an instance (before rules were posted) where artists did not have a thread of clients/past clients on their forums and only accepted commissions via Discord. This was a bit iffy in Staff PoV as we could not monitor what was traded during the transaction so after the rule was implemented, we haven't been having an issue since!

But to clarify: Artwork where the transactions end with MapleLegends related items/currency must be logged on a thread with the players' information asked. If a Twitter Artist is selling commissions and you pay them $ to draw your MapleLegends character, that would not count as you are paying an artist on Twitter their requested currency. If the Twitter artist is asking for MapleLegends Meso/items as payment, then yes, they must create a forum account and log their transaction. (Cause the meso has to go somewhere!)

    Hopefully this answers your question!

Uhh, more of using MapleLegends' forums as a place to sell their art, as in they are not a player they are just using the forums to get more eyes onto their art for commissions as if MapleLegends' Forums is another form of Twitter.

Creating a thread with some examples of their art commissions while linking their Twitter account.

That would most likely go under both 1.2 and 1.3 of our ToS:
Though in my 6 years here I haven't seen any artist desperate enough to do that, but will keep my eyes out HAHAH ;);)
