There's one thread about using JoyToKey but multiple people (including myself) have hard a hard time getting PS3 (DualShock 3)/PS4 controllers to work. So let me show you how I got mine to work!

    Things You Will Need:
    Installation
    • Install .NET 4 package (if necessary)
    • Install the XBox 360 controller driver package (Windows XP/Vista users should install this AFTER installing the SCP drivers)
    • Restart if asked to.
    • Important: Connect your PS3/PS4 controller and let Windows install the default drivers.
    • Extract the contents of "ScpServer\bin" from "SCP-DS-Driver-Package-1.2.0.160" to where you want to put it. Personally I put it into "C:\Games\Utils\SCP-DS3\"
    • Run "ScpDriver.exe"
    • Click "Install" to install the SCP driver, bluetooth driver and SCP service (maps controller input to XInput).
    • Once it's done, you can exit.
    • Install Motion joy
I use it because it's what I got it to work with, there are other alternatives if you'd like to chose those but you do need this to install things
    • Open MotioninJoy and make sure your controller comes up like so
    • Next go into "Driver Manager" if anything has a red X next to it click "Install All".
    • Next Check the box next to the driver and click "Load driver"
    • Once it finish your controller is read to go, go back to the "Profiles" tab and click Create next to Custom.
    • Name the config, and to assign keys to your button find the desired button, click the first drop down menu, and click keyboard.

    • Then click the second drop down menu and wait a second, a virtual keyboard will pop up and select the key you'd like to assign it to.
    • Repeat with all you keys and press "Save Changes" and you're good to go!
    Troubleshooting

To make sure your controller is working please follow these steps
    • Go on MotioninJoy and click the "Game Controller Panel" button, it will bring up windows came controller menu.
    • Press properties and it will bring up "MotioninJoy Virtual Game Controller Properties".
    • Being pressing buttons and moving your joysticks, the corresponding numbers will start to blink if they're working correctly and the + in the Axes box will start to move.
In closing, using an xBox controller would be far easier but we work with what we have. I truly find maple far more enjoyable using a controller to play. MotioninJoy is 1 of many option you can choose from but so far it works for me. Hope this guide works for you, if you have any questions feel free to leave a comment below or PM me!

+1 its so much nicer being able to lean back and have my arms in a neutral position and still be able to grind.

It's all very quick it just looks like a lot. The reason there are many steps of PS3 controllers weren't meant to be compatible with windows lol.

Im using this thingy for getting my ps4 controller connected to my pc ( both wireless*bluetooth*/wired )
https://inputmapper.com // replaces with "SCP DS3 package" if you got a ps4 controller
    [IMG]

^best thing about this is probly the ability to set the ps4 lightning to the rainbow mode ( looks really cool/nice ) or you can just set it to 1 color if you think its annoying when it change color all the time

and this thingy for when games don't support controllers by default ( aka for maple before v90~ * when they added controller support * )
*Get version 5.3 or earlier, unless you feel like paying afaik *
    http://www.xpadder.com // replace with MotioninJoy ( works for both ps3/ps4 )
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/mg/getmirror/xpadder_(last_freeware_version),1.html
^free non virus crap legit link for downloading the latest free version for free without virus or having to pay even 0,0000001$ * for people who suck at finding links *

^both of these are ezpz to install/use

//just posting this cuz its always good to have more options for how to get things to work and im not saying these stuffs are better/worse than what LatteLatte posted Keepo

BLUETOOTH DRIVER THINGY , had to use this thingy to get my dongle to notice my ps4 controller (x
^it basically change it into a default Microsoft Bluetooth thingy

I was so sad when I sad that inputmapper was dualshock 4 only, the UI is so much nicer than anything for dualshock 3.
Thank you for the input ^^

Edit, I've also ordered the Bluetooth piece once I get it (and get it to work) ill update the guide with getting that to work, assuming it doesn't work out of the box.

    From lattes post
    Things You Will Need:
    //
install that thingy, and then your controller should show up as long as its plugged into your pc's usb port

^if its still to hard you can always google about it or search for a youtube video on how to do it ^^
