I saw a couple of jokes on the disruptions in contrast with ours where our train company apologized for departing 20 seconds earlier. SlimeSealed

Japan's Emperor Akihito to abdicate in April 2019

    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-42191096

Emperor Akihito will abdicate the throne on 30 April, and he will be succeeded by his son Crown Prince Naruhito on 1 May. Last year, Emperor Akihito expressed concern that his age and health would make it difficult for him to fulfil his duties. While the Emperor of Japan has no political powers, he does have official duties such as greeting foreign dignitaries and performing Shinto ceremonies.

Japanese law does not allow the Emperor to abdicate, but a special bill was passed to allow Emperor Akihito to step down. The abdication is widely supported by the Japanese public.

Photos of the new Hwasong-15 missile reveal that it is significantly wider than the Hwasong 14 that was launched over Japan twice in July. Both missiles are the most advanced intercontinental ballastic missiles that North Korea possesses, and it is noted that the Hwasong-15 employs a new and more advanced engine system.

Argentina formally ends search for survivors of missing submarine

    http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news...y-ends-search-for-submarine-survivors-9457488

On 15 Nov, ARA San Juan went missing in the South Atlantic with 44 crew aboard. In its final communication, the submarine reported that it had overcome a mechanical fault caused by a short circuit due to water entering via the snorkel. Three hours later, a nose similar to an explosion was recorded 48km from where the submarine sent its last report; this position is in line with the submarine's planned route to its base in Mar del Plata.

No shipwreck was found during the 2-week search, and the international rescue effort had continued for "twice the time" it was estimated that the crew could have survived.
