    Hey everyone,

i found some maple stuff on YT and thought about maybe getting back a little.
Since i played in the very early versions of the game without much knowledge of anything (like before pirates were a thing), I was looking for a more oldschool version.

Now after thinking about this the most daunting decision of them all comes into play.
What class am i supposed to pick? ^^"

Would be very appereciated to get some feedback :D

What im looking for in that class/specifics would be:
    1. range or melee doesnt matter
    2. should have a somewhat smooth leveling experience since this might impact my will to continue ^^"
    3. shouldnt need funding to work since im starting from 0 (if it needs funding lategame when i can farm the mesos for it myself with the character thats not a problem/ i.e. dont want to start endgame totally useless if i reach it. So i guess nightlords are a skip)
    4. i dont really understand the HP stuff but i read there are some challenges for that coming, so id rather rely on that! (PS: this challenge stuff is really nice because it lowers the entry barrier for new people! :D)
(4.5. how long does it even take to reach the level where this matters?)
    5. it would be nice if id be a "relevant" class, so if i reach some level in which teamplay is important i dont want to "leftout" because the class is considered useless or not like a super funded nightlord

    Any help is greatly appericated!
    Have a nice day,
    Aiphaton

Bishop as a starting class is probably the most accessible, being able to grind well with even just basic gear. If you plan to stay long term, bishop provides all the utility for whatever you want to do with your other characters. Bossing is limited outside of zakum, horntail, and pink bean due to otherwise low damage. However, only pick this if you enjoy playing mages.

Marksman (crossbows) and buccaneer (punchy pirates) are attacker classes that are fairly accessible throughout and are both relevant in terms of damage and party utility

    Nice! Thanks so much!
Then I think I’ll stick with marksman since I don’t really get warm with Bishops and already had an eye out for them ^^

    Welcome back!

i think paladin is a good idea to start if you dont go for mage (shadower, dk, bucc and maybe sair is also an option), if you dont mind, bishop like was mentioned is a good

Bishop 1) pros: fast lvl, can boss, sell leech later, needed in HT a lot (these are all really good pros)
cons: muled in some bosses, hard to play in HT and some other advanced content, NEED to mp wash (around 1mil nx) also want to hp wash if want to HT a lot, should not do hp challenge on this class

DK 2) pros: even faster lvl, has HB, can do most bosses, hp chal is good, may be sought out in many content if hp chal is popular
Cons: top two hardest classes to play, not sought out in most content except PB (for now?)

MM 3) pros: sought out in most content, cheap, dmg good even with bad gear
Cons: hard to lvl 3rd job, will rely on HB in some content, no hamstring (BM skill)

Sair/bucc 4) pros: sought out in most content, cheap gear(sair) or dmg doesnt matter (bucc)
Cons: hardest to level 3rd job, wont reach "full power" til like lvl 160, will rely on HB

Shad 5) pros: fun (and fast lvl if you spend meso to bomb), can 4-target OR single target atk, valued in HT as sed-target (and extra meso!), require almost 0 pots so cheap to boss with
Cons: worst dmg in both single and 3-target, is melee but cant pin bosses

Pally 6) pros: meta, strong in NT bosses, can single target or cleave(tho cleave is not as strong as hero or DK), option to choose cheap weapon in exchange for some dpm loss
Cons: hard to lvl 3rd job (I'm guessing), everyone is making pally (wow not a lot of cons)

its a solid 3rd (talking by myself who begins as paladin on first char and no funds), elemental raise our damage alot, 115+ is a bit sad coz no spot (himes, grims are the lasts), power strike with fire charge is a bit worse than dragon crusher, and mob skill is a bit short, but not so much issues
