Information Transparency post: Cohort

Hello Maplers.

About a week ago I have permanently banned Cohort from the forums. This was seen as some because he made a feedback post.

While I admit completely that it was pretty unprofessional in the way I did handle it, let me explain.

Cohort has been caught on the same day as his feedback post for hacking on multiple accounts as well as botting and hacking in the past under a different forum name.

He had appealed the auto ban for claiming it was a false ban. After looking into it, it was a 100% valid ban. We looked into it with cloned stats and it wasn't possible, so it was a valid ban (the character was level 2, so I assume he was testing his luck).

Previously Cohort was caught botting on multiple accounts as well as hacking, so he was already ban evading before another ban for hacking, so even if above would be false, he was already banned before for hacking.

The reason why I reacted the way I did is because Cohort already applied for GM and was actually pretty highly considered before, which means we had the chance to hire a person that hacked on our server.

It happened before in another server that someone first hacked multiple times, got hired, and than make a farewell topic revealing everything. This is terrible for the server and that's why I reacted the way I did. To put it simply, I was disappointed. I felt lied to, and a fairly well respected member of the community was hacking in our server, botting in our server, and more.

I hope with this transparency post you'll understand more why I reacted this way.
