Change Instance Entry restriction to Instance Clear

    Gaga JQ brought so much insanely good QoL with it, such as being able to run multiple instances on the same channel simultaneously.

    One thing that it brought that hasn’t been discussed as much is the fact that it tracks clears and not just entries like most PQs and instanced content does.

    This brings a lot of potential to regular content. Notably, you can now restart something if it gets scuffed (say you enter HT and accidentally start the fight before everyone is in, or a player disconnects), as well as continue to practice difficult content with a steep learning curve (notably Auf for new players). Scuffs early on a run no longer feel as bad, and players no longer have to feel as punished for running on “practice” runs and wasting their actual runs. Veteran players may be more incentivized to run with less experienced friends to help them gain experience without needing to worry about wasted runs.

    In terms of future content, this also opens the door to making endgame content more difficult, as wiping now merely means you can hop back in and try again instead of having to try to organize a new run the following day.

    This does open up the door to “abuse” such as repeatedly running Zak just to kill Arms, or killing all of HT for experience except a final arm and restarting, but in most of those cases the gain in EXP is usually justified by a sufficiently offsetting cost (HT you’re spending time and mesos that are arguably better spent at 7f if strictly just for EXP; Zak you’re paying an EoF each time, again for no drops). For many boss fights, the most EXP is tied to the final part (Zak, Toad, Verga, etc) and much of the value comes from the drops as well, meaning there’s little actual incentive to repeatedly run the fight for no drops.

    This was a point that immediately crossed my mind as well, and I was wondering whether it'd be a valid solution to simply 'lock' the instance after a single bodypart or phase has been cleared (e.g. a single zak arm or a single ht part).

    However, I'm not quite sure if this would suffice or even work well with the suggestion, as a single ht part can still be killed fairly early on and a dc immediately following ht tail would still create a mildly scuffed run. (Or would preheads even be a valid point to 'lock' a run?)

    Overall I think it's a great suggestion. Not only from the perspective of limiting 'scuffed' runs, but especially from the perspective of being able to do more regular practice runs. GMS also has practice mode on bosses and I think it's an awesome feature that could definitely have a place in ML (whether in your suggested form or another.)

    Honestly I really do question how much this would actually be considered "abuse". The most notable scenario that I can think of that is remotely worth it is Zak arms, in which you're paying 1.5m (current price, liable to go up if it's actually worth it) for the ability to farm around 3-4m exp ish on 6 characters in 5-15 min depending on how many mages you're using and how strong they are, plus pot costs. You're also completely sacrificing any and all returns besides EXP, whereas if you were to take the same mages to Skeles, Petris, Ulu 2, or 5-6, you're being well compensated in terms of mesos, gacha, NX, and Equips on top of similar EPH.

    Very napkin math-y estimates but I think at the end of the day there's not really a lot of incentive to actually abuse the system since you're better off just farming normally.

    I'd imagine it wouldn't be difficult to implement the "clear" condition for that fight being an either/or

    You wouldn't leave after killing everything besides the final HT arm, you'd bring a mule/extra character that finishes it off and collects the drops after everybody else crystals and preserves their clear.

    They mean for it to function as PB currently does, i.e. if the run ends up clearing it counts as an entry for all who entered, regardless of whether they were present at the time of the killing, and if it fails then no one's entry is used.

    Oh right, that makes sense! Then that'd definitely be nice for testing risky strategies and saving HT runs from my pepega prehead deaths.
