Caracal the Corsair

Hi everyone! This is the start of my own Corsair journal, mostly inspired by akashsky after reading through his journals and his guide!

My journal starts here:


Why do I start here? Because I'm inted (220 base int) and figured going through pages of leeching isn't the most fun.

Im keeping this journal to keep track of my goals, aswell as some sort of motivator to keep going!

First day as a Corsair was eventful. As Corsair there are 5 skills you can unlock (6 if you count Maple Warrior), each of them giving a big EXP reward as bonus. So that's what I did

~Unlocking the skills~

First skill to unlock was the boat itself. Which isn't hard. All one has to do is survive for a small period of time while getting blasted in the face. Good times.


Second and third skill which are the attacking skills of your boat you can unlock simultaneously in Ludi, I did dog shit damage but I got the job done.



Fourth skill I did was Arial strike, nothing much to say here because I did not take a screenshot during any of it. Yes I'm good at keeping journals. But here is some proof !!


Fifth and final skill was Hypnotize. I'm not sure if I will ever use this since I've read it's kinda bugged but the EXP was definitely worth it. Gotta protect my lil friend here to get it.

After I got all my skills I was a whopping 64% !! Talking about easy EXP.

For gear goals I mostly just go with what sensei Akashsky wrote down in his guide.

He has two different "goals" a Corsair has to reach. "Late Game" and "End Game"
Then there's also this avoid setup that I spend way too much time in to find the avoid formula and make it into some sort of calculator for myself .. but thats for WAY down the line, so let's ignore that one for now.

Let's see how I do, first going for Late Game, since that's the first one to reach.

Eye: 2+ Dex spectrum goggle/ 7 Dex 7 Str 2 slot spectrum goggle
Face: 7+ Dex Rat mouth or mask / 7 Dex Mask
Pendant: MoN 5+ atk or HTP 23 Dex 23 Str / Silver deputy star 5 Dex 5 Str
Overall: 20+ Str / 21 Str
Cape: 6+ atk Pink Adventurer or Gaia Cape / 10 atk 2 slot Gaia Cape
Gloves: 14 atk / 14 atk
Weapon: 100+ atk gun / 79 atk 8 dex Maple Canon Shooter
Shoes: 2+ atk or 10+ Dex / 3 Dex 5 slot Black Basile Boots.

What we can learn from this is that I got alot of work to do. First things first, I need a weapon. Problem is, I need 3 more Str to be able to wear a Concerto. (This is WITH +2 zombie ring and Tier 4 monsterbook ring)

~Short and Longterm goals~

First things first, I'm going to do the Horntail Prequest to buy myself an AFK HTP service.
With that HTP I can wear a Concerto or a Dragonfire Revolver. I intend to try and scroll one myself.

Other short term goals are:
- Upgrade my ellin ring and try to get it +3
- Upgrade monsterbook ring to atleast level 5
- Run Ravana and Papulatus for EXP and maybe some pouches (read get carried by girlfriend Shnappie )

Long term goals for now:
- Get to 135 to reloot ZHELM with better stats to start scrolling it.
- When at 135 Zakum + Krex ALOT
- MP wash goal ends at 140. I will have, when fully put MP > HP 20K+ HP

Even though the "long term" goals seem to be close I still think it will take me some time. I don't intend to buy more leech, and I will probably not leech myself. Even if I would I'm no leeching machine and it will take a long time still.

Money making wise, I'm not really sure what to do. Probably easy bossing for pouches with the girlfriend and gacha from card hunting.

I do have a bucc that I run Horntail on, but for now that's only once a week on Nightz his hosted runs. PLEASE CONTINUE HOSTING I NEED IT.

There was a time where I hosted my own runs sometimes up to 3 times a week! But those times are long gone for now.. who knows.. maybe one day.

~Keeping count~

Since I'm a nerd with way too many excel spread sheets dedicated to Maple ofcourse I have to have a section dedicated to some numbers.

Whatsup mooplers! Its time for an update, buckle up here we go.

Remember that I said the FIRST thing I wanted was a HTP ? Yeah I still don't got it. I'm doing the prequest though!

~Quest adventueres~

First I needed to do the Papulatus prequest so I spoke to mr. Bouffon


After that he send my on my merry way to do the quest things. Since I'm weak I once again used the "beg girlfriend" move (which is very effective)


So not much later :


I did not have the HT prequest active though, which meant that I had to go and kill Papulatus again for a cert. (which I got carried through by my friend ign Johannes)
PAP CERT COMPLETE

Getting the Pianus cert was scary to me, knowing he can 1 hit me I was a bit hesitant to go and do it, but that was done aswell with the help of my friend ign StephenWu
PIANUS CERT COMPLETE

Funny enough, the first cert would've been zak, there was one attempt made with my friend Soblet but we both agreed never to speak of it again.
ZAK CERT INCOMMING

Another short term goal as ya'll may remember was to get the Ephenia ring and upgrade it. I made good progress on this one!

I killed some boar

Made my Hero kill some fairies


My friend ign StephenWu carried me through Chao, and for Ephenia herself I smega'd for help and this kind soul carried me!


After that he invited me into his guild, which I joined on my till now guildless Hero (as seen above)



RING ACHIEVED

I haven't gotten it upgraded yet.. I feel like I don't bring enough to the fight yet to try and get the necessary stuff (which includes killing Ephenia a ton)

I try to do Ravana everyday with the grilfriend as long as life allows us, and with that came this helmet:


With this helmet + the ring upgrade I can finally wear a Concerto!

As soon as I could I bought the scrolls and went to scrolling one:


Yikes.

I quickly said fuck that and bought a gun for now, so I at least do a bit more damage while trying to get myself some Dragonfire Revolvers to scroll

Since it had not much to do with the quest itself I didn't mention it, but on my way to Papulatus I came across this message:

LeonardoJF that quest gives a TON ! 12.150.000 to be exact. Is on my to do list, will probably do it at 125 though as its easier to leech myself through it at that point.

Hi chat !! We back just before the year ends, let's see what I've been up to.

Spoiler: HT related

First things first, I got myself my zak cert, look at these beautiful people TY for the carry !!


After the zak cert all i needed was someone to carry me through HT and get me my pendant. Guys. I'm in Funk. Who else is in Funk?

Mr. content himself. Rumor has it that he has been bitten by one of his cows, and now, just like his cows, he only sleeps 3 to 4 hours a day.
Now for some reason, man wasn't doing much HT as of late. In fact, I messeged him on the 22nd and I only got my pendant the 30th!! (With much help from ign Jessooo TYSM)
Would you believe that? Very dissappointed.

The pendant however is ... kind of meh. This were the clean stats:


HT only dropped 1 pendant, so it will do for now.
After egg

Since I got carried by mostly friends / guildies I got my pendant very cheap (yay me) With that meso I decided to scroll a new overall, the one I got now is not needed anymore.

This is what I wear now


Because I have the pendant now I don't need the STR anymore, all I need is 10. Which I can easly get with just 2 60's.
My friend Swesticer for some reason had 9 clean ones laying around, which he quickly gave to me because he just wants to see me blow meso on scrolling I guess...
Anyway here's what happend:

First I scrolled 1 with 2 STR 60's so I would have the STR I needed for my other equips

(Before this I failed 2 60's on another overall but forgot to take SS)

With that done I decided to scroll with 2 30's


Ok... it's something. Now I still had 8 overalls left. So instead of continueing with this one, I bought 12 overall DEX 30's and started scrolling them

4/12 succes ... checks out.

With 0 overalls good enough to scroll further I decided to go back to the overall I was scrolling, it had 6 slots left, which I decided to DEX overall 60.

Resulting in this:

Is this good enough? NO. Which made me buy 20 of these bad boys:


Oh. Guess I didn't need that many afterall.

Welp back to the +21 str one

I laugh but we all know I cry.

Progress isn't going as fast as I would like, lvling wise that is. As of writing I am level 124, a whopping 4!!!!! levels since the start of this journey. Almost a month and only 4 levels? Yikes.
But hey, such is life. If you only look at the end of the tunnel you will never see the beauty you pass that is within it. Idk im just trying some philosophy here. It sounded cool in my head ok?

2024 has been a very special year to me. Me and the GF bought a house and the birth of our little boy who is now already 10 months old! Funny thing is, I would never have those things if it wasn't for this mushroom game. The GF and I met on here, she moved from Canada to the Netherlands and now we're about to celebrate our 3rd new years together.. It really is crazy.

This game is so much more than just hold button and attack to me and alot of other people and I am very thankful to all of the staff members who dedicate their free time to make this a place we can all stay and make friends and memories. Very thankful for all the people I met and help me along the way. Special shoutout to the old school Munchies gang, and ofcourse my Funk family with who I share most of my Maple time. Ya'll are Legends
