Not a Bug Droprate bugged on "Judging the Axe"?

Dude, I've done this quest multiple times on different servers, even GMS. Tons of other people haven't had problems with this quest either. The quest is fine and doesn't need changing.

This isn't bad programming, this is you just whining and being impatient cause you got unlucky. If you spent as much time just grinding those dark stumps instead of complaining here, you'd already have completed the quest by now.

Hey, just a thought. Taking into consideration how mob spawns work, maybe you are meant to just slaughter all the moon bunnies at the same time. That way you get more appropriate exp and "entertainment" and it helps make the stumps spawn faster.

 

You can choose to complete the quest in KFT if you wish, and you have the option to acquire the Axes in Perion. I like the idea that we've been given greater latitude on how we can complete the quest. There is another quest in KFT that requires you to get Shrimps and Seal Meat in Aqua Road, so there is precedence for traveling to complete KFT quests.

As for value, just because they are not currently sold does not negate their value. I've sold some of my Axes in my private stock at a rate of about 25k per Axe. They aren't currently sold in The Junk Yard (FM 19) because I only put overstock in my stores. Did you want some? I think I have about 50-80 in stock right now. =o)

 

If you're such a badass quest guru, why is this one giving you such a problem, and why hasn't anyone else complained about it in the two years this server has been up?

Sure, you are welcome to make suggestions, but seeing as this is an open forums, don't get upset when people disagree with you for making bad suggestions.

I'm up for seeing the rate of either axes (if there's no knock-on effects to other quests) or success rate increased. I think the quest's pretty weirdly set up at the moment, and I've had to help quite a few people farm axes for it just in the past few weeks, so I can absolutely vouch for this being a bit of a faff!

If a change was going to happen (which I would vote against), then there are two schools of thought. If I were to appeal to my Meso pocketbook, I'd rather the drop rate for Axes go up. The demand curve would remain constant while the supply curve goes up, and if I can count on other players NPCing or discarding those Axes, then my supply increases while my prices can remain the same because alternative supplies are effectively the same except for those who would truly grind the quest out (whom I wouldn't end up doing business with anyway). I wouldn't want the success rate of the quest to increase because that would lower the demand curve, and that would always equate to selling fewer Axes.

Nevertheless, my argument was more for the fact that other areas in the game will have you go across the world. The Swallow has a chain of quests that interact with Mu Lung, as well as God of Mountains. So, again, there are plenty of instances where some quests require travel. I could even point out the quests by Wiz the Librarian in the first map into Helios Tower from KFT has quests that require traveling to Ariant and back...several times! I think the notion that you have to travel to Perion to complete the quest in a more effective time is not a compelling reason to demand a change. Furthermore, my experience has been sometimes I get really lucky, and other times I get terrible luck. How often does a 10% scroll work? That's the same chance of success when turning in an Axe. If you get about 12 to 15, statistically you should complete the quest. But statistical likelihood is not equivalent to a guarantee - and that's something this particular quest can never produce. I think the quest works just fine.

I wouldn't call him a troll, he's just a person who speaks his opinion in a very direct manner, which is fine because we need opinions on certain things. He's just very direct about it.

Everything I said was 100% true, though. If I was in your shoes, I'd have the quest done before the OP was even made. But hey, congratulations on your victory because getting the staff here to change a GMS-like quest, especially for something so frivolous, is unheard of. Well, at least till now.

Can't wait for the drop rate of Arwen's glass shoe, nependeath honey, and Blackbull's deed to skyrocket. Can't wait for the kill 999 quests to be turned into something like kill 499 too.
