Windows 8/8.1/10 failed in finding proper screen mode for Gr2D

Hello. I recently got an invitation from my friend to try Maple Legend. Because I enjoyed playing it when I was young, I would like to try it.

However, I downloaded and tried to run it, it says "failed in finding proper screen mode for Gr2D"

I have looked at some of the threads, tried few things.

I tried:
1) changing capability to window 98/me, XP (2 and 3)
2) changed display to resolution of 1920x (something like that), or lower (could not find the 800, 600 one)
3) re-downloaded
4) increased my RAM for gaming display (sort of thing) to 525 (or something like that. it was 124?8? before. I changed it manually watching youtube
5) allowed my computer defending thingy to not block maplelegend.exe

and still have no idea what to fix it. no matter what I did, it didn't work.. help me!!

 

I tried that with some hope in my mind.. but It is not working.
