Thinking on it, Luu noticed the general lack of quest completion that he's done as of late, so he decided to fix that. First, he went to the Nautilus to accept another strange dish order from Tangyoon. Curse eyes instead of evil eyes. Swell. He also found a piece of paper in a trashcan and decided to check it out. Apparently it was a letter from Kyrin to Athena Pierce, which Luu was tasked with delivering. Over in Henesys, apparently Camila lost a letter to curse eyes, which Luu was also tasked with retrieving. Lots of curse eyes in Luu's future, it seems. Chief Stan tasked Luu with delivering a letter to a Dr. Kim in the Omega Sector. That makes for two tasks to handle over there. Luu also talked with Rina over that food Ronnie wanted, which required... pig heads and yet more curse eye tails. As for the letter to Athena Pierce, Luu delivered it and was told about Kyrin's past. Apparently her father faught against the Black Magician, and Athena Pierce was tasked with raising Kyrin when he went to chase after the Black Magician once more. Apparently once she heard what happened to her father, she disappeared. Given that she now seems to operate a sub whose sole purpose is to chase after the Black Magician, it seems clear what she decided to do. Anyway, Luu decided to head out to the east side of Henesys to talk with Anne and get that stuffed Drake skull. From there, he worked his way back to the Nautilus, and after giving a gift from Athena Piece to Kyrin, talked with Estelle over the secret sauce. Evidently Estelle wants a garnet in trade. So many required gemstones... Meanwhile, Dr. Betty finished her report but wanted Luu to deliver it alongside a bunch of Stump materials and some weighted earrings for some reason. Which Luu did get earlier, but then sold.

Just swell, really. Meanwhile Luu's quest list outside of Victoria Island had grown considerably. A journey might be in order soon. Before then, though, Luu realized that he had a quest in Ellinia that required him to talk to a fellow named Shane to fetch some flowers. So, he did, and...

Luu was promptly whisked away to another goddamn jump quest. These are starting to take years off of Luu's life. Still, it is done.

In the meantime, Luu contemplated his next steps. He would need more leather for shoes, and he had yet to work out how to get the gloves... unless?
    47.png
Bingo. To the wooden masks! Or rather, to the wild boars since they're closer, and then the wooden masks! Or... maybe fire boars? Surely they drop leather, too? Luu was torn on which to pursue. Wild boars drop a circle-winded staff, which would be vital for Luu to acquire, but he had yet to acquire any cards for fire boars. So, he resolved to get the circle-winded staff first, and then move on to fire boars. Or at least, that was the hope. Luu killed boars for many hours, but grew tired before he could obtain the staff. The haul:
    48.png
So, Luu sold what he didn't need, kept one set of weighted earrings for Winston, grabbed the leaves as requested to wrap up that quest (getting a pair of leaf earrings as a reward), and went to sleep. Right before that, though, Winston tasked Luu with getting some particularly dry branches from some stumps.

Luu fell asleep at the suggestion.

Luu returned to hunt more boars, still hoping to obtain that staff while he was here. If nothing else it'd save a good deal of time getting it now rather than later. No such luck, though. Luu then went to kill Rocky and Wooden Masks in hopes of getting that necessary glove, but alas, he ran out of potions before he could. So, he went to turn in a couple of quests to Winston, and then contemplated his next goals. For one, Winston had tasked Luu with slaying Stumpy, so he camped around deep in the east rocky mountains to accomplish that real quick. Apparently Stumpy was sucking the life out of the land itself. So, Luu ended Stumpy, and returned to Winston. For that, he was given a good deal of fame. He then returned to Perion, took a quest to build a new house for Blackbull, and then checked how things went with the boars and masks:
    49.png
    50.png
    51.png
Funny enough, Luu managed to obtain his next weapon. Probably from a Rocky Mask? At least, of all the things he killed, it doesn't show up on anything whose monster cards for drops he does have. He would need a Wizard Staff for his next armor set, though. He also kept the Red Lutia, which had practical use as a crafting material despite being the wrong color. In the meantime, Luu went to go pick on Mano a bit more. He was feeling a bit tired, and not really up to more grinding. Maybe Mano would play nicely and give him his next glove?

    52.png
Hah. First one that day, too. Low roll on the int (only +1) but whatever, a glove's a glove. Luu went to Sleepywood and went with the Dark Windshoes; there's been a change of plans. While there he turned in the diet herbs and was given a worthless scroll; he then went to Ellinia, turned in the garnet, and since he kept forgetting about it went and turned in those bento boxes, too. Nothing special for a reward, but at least it was taken care of. With that out of the way, Luu contemplated his next steps. He needs a steel pride (which will require a bronze pride and a good deal of... well, steel) and a wizard staff, as well as more potions. Sorcerer potions aren't cutting it anymore; he needs to upgrade to red bean sundaes. Which means... time to leave Victoria Island. He also turned in a bunch of gach cards and got a bunch of scrolls of various value, which he put in his store.

    53.png
Luu was off to Orbis and beyond.

Luu hopped on a boat and went to Orbis, knowing his future lay outside of Victoria Island. Or at least, the immediate future. On the boat, he found one of those history books he was sent to search for. Totally forgot to talk to Grendel the Really Old for another one, but oh well. This venture abroad won't be for forever.

While on the boat, Luu contemplated shoes. More specifically, he contemplated his level 50 and level 60 shoes. None of them came in "dark", so they would always mismatch the rest of his armor. So, he decided to go with the blue variety, assuming he could find them.

In Orbis, Luu decided to resolve two of the quests he already had here. He grabbed a box from around Moppie's collar, which was to be delivered to someone in Ariant. As for the Queen's tea, Luu needed to kill 30 Jr. Sentinels for that. Simple enough. Moppie also apparently happened to be in pain, for which Lisa could help by building a flute that would let Luu understand Moppie's barks. From Kriel, Luu was tasked with delivering some food and getting a picture book of Aqua Road. Ericcson tasked Luu with bringing a golden bell and a red ribbon from the cash shop, which was simple enough. He then tasked Luu with slaying some of the local wildlife and bringing back proof. After accepting what he could, he went to go deliver that food. Turns out Spiruna lives deep in cloud park; the trip nearly killed Luu. Spiruna also evidently prophesized that Orbis will come crashing to the ground, for which Luu is to slay even more of the local wildlife to prevent.

Not that he's in any position to slay the local wildlife. He's lacking the necessary power. However, the Jr. Sentinels in Orbis Tower seem particularly weak, so Luu decided to hunt them for a time to see if he could nab the card set. This took remarkably little time, and nabbed Luu another level and hence let him finally spend those 15 points saved up for Thunder. Finally, some real damage. Luu ventured a bit below, fought some proper Sentinels, realized that they were a bit much for him to handle at the moment and decided to return to Orbis. He got his tea leaves from Lisa (who was very confused by the idea of the queen of Ariant being a fairy), and then proceeded to talk with Alfonse Green to offer to help get some Nependeth juice. This required talking with Ericcson so that he would agree to actually juice the seeds. He refused, preferring to spend time with his cat. Elma the Housekeeper offered to make Ericcson a gift for his cat so that he would agree to help, requiring a bunch of materials that Luu had little interest in fetching at the moment. Given that all avenues of progression here seemed rather frustrating, Luu went off to Ariant instead.

Once there, Luu went straight to the palace to turn in that tea leaf, and then chatted with Schegerazade. Evidently she wants more stories to tell, and wished Luu fetch her a storybook from Ludibrium. Meanwhile, Sirin wanted Luu to get her a new sword, which would require hunting some of the local wildlife. That and something about a bounty on Deo.

Since Luu had apparently failed to do so, he decided to spend a good chunk of time getting some cards from this place. After all, it was low enough of a level that he could sweep through things with Thunder fairly easily. First were the bunnies. Then the cacti. Then some snakes. Then Pleads. Along the way, he encountered a... blond child in the desert caring for a rose. Luu provided some water for the rose. He then requested some telescopes.

With the cards out of the way, Luu returned to Ariant to wrap up the outstanding quests necessary to join the Sand Bandits. His first mission, then, was to steal some silk under the disguise of a guard. Plus that bounty about Deo. So, Luu wrapped up the theft, killed Deo (again), and then went after those Meercats. He also chatted with the Queen, who felt that the best solution to the dry heat and sand was to rub her face with... sand. Sure. So, after Luu got the Meercat cards, he went and grabbed some beaks of Kiyo, grabbed their cards as well, and got the necessary sand from the sand giants.

At this point Luu went to review the drops of all those monsters he acquired cards for. Something stood out:
    54.png
    55.png
    56.png
    57.png
    58.png
The desert is a bounty of equipment, and Luu would not be leaving any time soon. Luu spent a good deal of time here, and got most (but not all) of the payout. The haul:
    59.png
    60.png
    61.png
The ice wand was an upgrade, while the wizard staff was a straight equivalent. Even though Luu said that crafting would supercede buying, buying for a better stat roll on an item he already acquired through other means seemed perfectly fine to him. These rules aren't all that strict, after all. Outside of that, everything else was a good roll, so he bought a Bronze Pride and returned to Ellinia...
    62.png
And took on a more powerful look.

Luu, now level 44 and with some new equipment, had a lot to think about. While he knew the location of his necessary shoes and staff for the next armor set, he was shy the necessary intermediate wand and the gloves (though black crystal ore could solve that one too) and hat. This meant that going for his next equipment set isn't an option. He also doesn't seem to be able to upgrade his monster book ring despite having 30 card sets; it seems they need to be complete? Alas. So, Luu first shuffled about to accept all the other quests lying around Victoria Island. Jane gave up adventuring and wanted to be an alchemist, which requires a bunch of fun things that Luu has no idea how to acquire. Maya had a baby Lioner crawl into her house and wants to heal it, requiring a bunch of items Luu has no idea how to acquire. Wing wanted Luu to make a delivery to Kriel in Orbis, which seems straightforward enough (Luu grabbed the history book from Grendel the Really Old while there). Shumi wants Luu to recover yet more money for her, meaning...

    Another. Goddamn. Jump quest.

Luu was rewarded with... 30 elixers. It was practically an insult. Luu decided to venture through the Kerning City subway for some cards he needs, to help lower his blood pressure. Luu got the card sets for bubblings and stirges before going back in town, but not before doing a sweep or two of the Jr. Wraiths. He then wrapped up some of the related quests, and then took a breather. At which point he realized that as a part of the Ariant stuff from earlier, he had enough of the tree sap to turn in to Sophia, so he went to Perion, then took said breather.

Thinking on it, Luu realized that he had to be careful regarding his level. There is, in fact, level-locked content, some of which he already missed (KPQ). At his current moment, he was nearing the upper end of the level range for LPQ. While KPQ's reward (some slime shoes) he would never dare wear, LPQ provides some stat-boosting glasses. Given that all other eyewear costs an absurd amount, Luu figured that getting those glasses would be rather vital, even if he had never done LPQ before. So, he boarded the boat, and went to Ludibrium (though not without delivering that whatever-it-was for Wing when in Orbis). Perhaps this way Luu could also get enough garnet ore to upgrade his monster book ring. His quests can come later. They aren't going anywhere.

Of course, in response to Luu bringing Wing's whatever-it-was to Kriel, Kriel tasked Luu with collecting some bottles for recycling and also killing the local wildlife. Luu made a brief attempt just to see whether his equipment made a difference, and did it ever. Still, all can wait. Though he at least went around to accept some of the more readily accessible quests in Ludibrium. Marcel, for instance, wanted Luu to clean up both towers. Nemi wanted Luu to deliver her father some food. Korin, apparently, lost 10 months worth of memories and wants Luu to help her recover them. Tigun wanted Luu to take care of some spiders so he can deliver a letter, and to bring him a sapphire. Luu was able to at least bring the sapphire, though as to what benefit, Luu had no idea. A guard also tasked Luu with bringing some walnuts. Sure. Luu went up to the floor above, and waited for enough people to be around to actually do the party quest.

Several times, given that the first group turned out to be a shitshow. Luu managed to get 5 runs in before things petered out, but it was good fun! Since he was already here, he decided to get the cards for various things in Eos Tower. Specifically, Ratz and Black Ratz.

    The haul:
    63.png
    64.png
    65.png
    66.png
All in all, fairly productive. He might circle back around later to do more LPQ; the progress was good, but there's a lot more to do to earn those glasses. He kept the blue capes and earrings and sold the rest, outside of the stuff acquired earlier.

Luu, feeling up for some late-night grinding away at this party quest. walked over to the tower yet again. Before doing so, however, he turned in those walnuts to the guard on the left, and then proceeded to help out the guard on the right by finding a clue as to some monster breaking into the place via a crack in time. Apparently the pendulum to the clocktower was stolen away; Luu recovered it, and then was tasked with delivering it back to Grandpa Clock. He then did a few runs of LPQ. The haul:
    67.png
More capes, more earrings. Some shoes from the quest that are the wrong color. Alas. Luu turned in his quest for cleaning up the tower, and was granted with yet another quest to clean up more of Eos Tower.

Luu decided he'd rather go to bed.

Luu took a break to relax before returning to the LPQ grind. Or at least, tried to, but it was a ghost town. Doing some quick math, Luu noticed that he could afford to hunt for cards for one level before having to call it quits, lest he outlevel his ability to do LPQ and get those glasses.

Given that he was already here, why not grind at some teddys and the other assorted toys lying around? He did this for about an hour, before going back and waiting for anyone else to show up for LPQ. No luck. The haul:

The cards were a benefit, and funny enough something around here dropped an improved version of Luu's hat that, unfortunately, is in gold rather than steel. Ah well.

Another day, another gamble at whether or not there's anyone around for LPQ. Fortunately for Luu, this time there were more than a few, and there was very little of a wait at all. It took a bit, but finally, finally...
    74.png
Luu could... look like an idiot. Swell. Luu went into the cash shop and made them transparent. Regardless, he was free. Free! Free from doing that party quest over and over and over! Luu got out of Ludibrium as quick as he could, to return to Lith Harbor so he could upgrade his monster ring after sitting on that quest for days.

With that done... now what? Luu pondered this a bit. Notably, he did have a set of earrings that he liked... why not scroll them? Apparently there's a seller of scrolls in Ellinia who sells scrolls that add magic attack to earrings. Luu went there, and scrolled the earrings. Probably not the most optimal approach, but these are just some earrings Luu plans on wearing for a bit, and grinding for scrolls (and earrings) at this stage seems tedious. With that done, Luu decided to go kill some Octopus, to wrap up that card set. He recalled seeing some in Sleepywood right outside of Kerning City, so he went there and hunted away. Afterwards, Luu ventured deeper and killed those Curse Eyes that he had so many quests about. Luu did this for a bit, until he wrapped up a good number of quests. However, he did not continue afterwards, since he realized that there were probably more concentrated areas for hunting the cards that he wanted, which could come later anyway. Instead, he went to turn in those quests.

First, at the Nautilus, Mrs. Reade was grateful for the mouse traps but now also wanted Luu to take some pure water and pour it on Jack so that he would, y'know, actually be the slightest bit clean. So Luu did this, and it made no difference. Luu then delivered some curse eye tails to Tangyoon, who either made some unagi out of it or passed off Luu some actual unagi because his attempt was utterly inedible. Hard to tell. Now he wants cold eye tails.

Over in Kerning City, Luu finally finished Dr. Faymus's request. In turn, Luu was passed off a request from Chris, to make a pillow out of some feathers and leather. Luu happened to have both on hand already, so he resolved this one too. Following that, the weapon shop owner, Cutthroat Manny, now wanted some evil eye tails. Those would have to wait.

In Henesys, Luu brought Camila her lost letter, which apparently contained dire news from her pen pal, Kong Ji. He could no longer write to her, and did not explain why. Luu was tasked with going to Korean Folk Town to find out what was going on. Luu also turned in the curse eye tails to Rina, wrapping up the last bit of food that Ronnie requested. Luu went outside of town really quickly to get some extra pig heads, and then wrapped up providing the requested food for Mrs. Ming Ming. With that out of the way, he then returned to Ronnie, and got Mr. Wetbottom's book back. Luu then went to Perion, and talked with Manji. Apparently back in the day, Manji wandered into the heart of the cavern at the center of the island and encountered Balrog. He was nearly killed, but the legendary hero Tristan saved him at the cost of his own life. He handed Manji his sword before he passed, and Manji now handed Luu the sword in the hope of having its power restored.

Luu, fresh out of ideas of what to do next, decided to go to the beach real quick. Florina Beach, specifically. For one, he needed a salad for the security guard in Henesys, and two, he figured that he could try for some cards there. Luu was also tasked by Riel to get some coconuts. Following that, he was tasked to get some Lorang claws, some bananas, and more coconuts. However, at this point Luu had seen enough of the beach and decided to leave for now. He went over to Luke in front of Sleepywood, and gave him what he needed for... whatever on earth that meal was that his mother wanted. He then ventured back into Sleepywood, and talked with Chrishrama over the Gladius that Manji gave Luu. He told Luu that restoring it would require a star rock, a piece of ice, an ancient scroll, and a flaming feather. Luu had the ice from much earlier, but as for the rest... No clue. Meanwhile, Sabitrama wanted new herbs, this time for anti-aging properties. Meaning another jump quest as soon as Luu returned to Ellinia. Swell. In the meantime, Luu went over to Mr. Wetbottom and returned his book. Luu was given a sauna robe in return.

    The item haul so far:
    75.png
Luu had forgot to sell the haul from yesterday, so he offloaded all of it today. The Golden Pride hurt to sell, but it simply did not match his outfit. Some of these items also came from some gacha rolls. Luu then went into the caves, to hunt some cards. He even managed to get those cold tails he needed, though he nearly died in the process. Tangyoon (supposedly) turned them into ice cream pops. As for Cuttthroat Manny, Luu got some White Magicshoes for his trouble there. Not quite what he needed. The total haul, gacha redeemed and all:
    76.png
    77.png
    78.png
    79.png
    80.png
    81.png
There were also several scrolls, which he listed as always before going to bed. A very productive day, to say the last.

Looking at his current inventory of gems and ores, Luu realized he had enough to make a Mithril Wand. So, he did, because there was no reason not to. That left the rest of his equipment. He still needed a Black Jester, a Circle-Winded Staff, a Black Lutia, and Black Magicshoes. He knew the staff drops from Wild Boars, and those are close by, so he decided to go back to grinding those. Which he did. For several hours. And obtained not a single staff. The haul:
    82.png
Approaching near the entire Wild Boar item table. This is getting old. Luu decided that for the next hunt for this staff, that he would consider an alternative to hunt.

Before heading out, Luu decided to accept some quests in Ellinia. Rowen explained to Luu that, back in the day, Grendel the Really Old went and did some regrettable experimentation with black magic. He accidentally cursed some dolls and then sealed them away, only for the monkeys in the forest to find them and be turned into zombies. Rowen tasked Luu with recovering 100 of the dolls. Arwen was also frustrated at Grendel the Really Old's actions, since it evidently produced a giant monster deep in the forest for which he refused to do anything about. Luu went to Grendel the Really Old to ask him to handle things. He agreed, and tasked Luu with talking with a mysterious cat named Fanzy in the north part of the forest regarding the going-ons of the monsters. Luu figured to tackle that later.

Luu decided to check his journal for anything else that drops a circle-winded staff. It seems that both Lorangs and Scarf Pleads drop them. Luu figured that he would have better luck with the Scarf Pleads (since he needed those shoes, too), so he went back to the desert. Or at least, contemplated it; he was still rather annoyed that he could no longer freely teleport via Manji. However, he did hear something about a new option being made available, so he returned to Manji just in case. Apparently now Manji was willing to sell Luu some coins that he could use at a portal "somewhere outside Perion" to go back to Ariant. Intriguing. Luu decided to wander about Perion to see what he might find. He decided first to check out The Burnt Land. No dice, though Luu spent some time killing fire boars and ended up acquiring some glass shoes. Plural. It seems Arwen lost many of these. Luu moved on to the depths of the eastern rocky mountain, where he encountered some drakes. Weaker than the drakes in the caves, but still. No portal. Luu killed some drakes, and then went to the western rocky mountains. Boars and monkeys, but no portal. Maybe some of the more hidden paths? Luu checked his journal. While he had spent plenty time in the Land of Wild Boar II, he had never tried the Land of Wild Boar I. Maybe there?

Sure enough, wandering around the associated areas, he found the portal. Once in the desert, he went back to Ariant and first chatted with Jiyur. Apparently he wanted to gain access to the palace to visit his sister. Luu had a spare pass, so he provided it to Jiyur. Who wrote his name on it. Which apparently violated many things, and resulted in a 50,000 meso fine.

Tragic for Jiyur, but a pittance for Luu. He paid the fine, but Tigun still refused to let Jiyur see his sister. He'd instead deliver letters... for a 50,000 meso fee. Luu was tempted to send a jolt of electricity down his spine to make a point, but decided against it. Instead, he turned his frustration into the Scarf Pleads. Which, sure enough, yielded the staff! So he went over to Cacti for those shoes. Unfortunately, their overall mob density and drop rate was just awful. Nothing else that he had cards for showed the shoes he was looking for, at least in the desert. However, he had completely neglected getting cards for the other half of the place. So, he grabbed a camel cab over to Magatia, and killed whatever he could find there. He also grabbed some quests, since he had a chance to. He paid a broker for some info, and was told that apparently the town was founded after the defeat of the Black Magician, and became fabulously wealthy. However, it was split between two camps: Zenumist and Alcadno. They disagreed with some fundamentals about alchemy, and hated each other as a result. Luu figured to join Zenumist, since he didn't care much for machines, though evidently he could just join both and switch capes whenever. He killed some of the monsters over in the Zenumist facility, but eventually got tired and went to bed.

    The haul:

The shoes are the level 35 set, and one of them even had a reasonable stat roll! The wand happened to be a mild upgrade compared to the one he made. All in all, rather productive.

Luu wrapped up getting the cards of some of the easier enemies here on both sides, and then decided to see whether or not any of them dropped something useful. In looking, it seems that cube slimes also drop black magicshoes! Luu figured to kill those, hoping that the density and drop rate would be better than that of cacti. So he did, but after approaching it for a few hours, he had no results. Alas. Wasn't even really a haul worth showing off. Most unfortunate. Luu considered that maybe finding something that drops black crystal ore would be more productive at this point.

I'm not gone by the way. Magicshoes just got exhausting to hunt for so I took a brief break. I probably won't make any journal updates until I have those shoes, but what I'll be doing in the meantime is just... grinding for those shoes from Cactus until they drop. I'll start posting again once that happens.

    EDIT:

    5 minutes.
    It took 5 minutes.

Guess I'll be back to playing after the patch!

Luu managed to nab those ill-fated magicshoes after all; he then promptly took a genie back to Orbis and never looked back. Might be a long time before he ever returns to the desert, that's for sure. He also went and sold whatever equipment he managed to loot while there. All that remained for the items he would need are the gloves and the hat. According to the journal, Roloduck would drop the gloves, but Luu could not find anything that dropped the hat. Also, he noticed a conspicuous lack of any Orbis cards in his collection.

So, Luu decided rather than to grind for yet more equipment, to instead resolve some of the outstanding things he left behind in Orbis. Starting with star pixies and the rest of the denizens of Cloud Park. During this, Luu was requested to kill various pixies and collect their magic. Fair enough; he was gonna do that regardless. As a consequence of the card collection, Luu completed a few quests. For one, he helped lighten up Orbis, but it turned out the various pixies were drawing power from the clouds themselves and risking the whole place falling. He also created the horn flute, allowing himself to communicate with Moppie. Turns out, Moppie was attacked by monsters, and needed to be healed. Lisa could produce the medicine. Good to know! Meanwhile, the haul:

As for cards, Luu managed to obtain a full set on Star Pixie and all the Jr. Grupin/Lioner/Celion varieties.

Luu, having collected all of these cards from creatures in Orbis, decided to actually check what they drop. Sure enough, seems that Jr. Grupins drop Black Jester hats, so Luu went to work. A couple of hours later, his yield:

    No dice so far.

It's been... a week now? Luu started grinding away at Grupins back on the 22nd; while there have been no journal entries since then, that wasn't for a lack of playing. Rather, figured that having several "another day, another lack of a hat" journal entries would get tedious, and grinded away without a journal until they day came where I got a damn hat.
    89.png
Well, I got the damn hat. And the flu, and delirium from the fever from the flu, but more importantly the hat. With that done, Luu wrapped up his outstanding Orbis quests (helped out Moppie, gave Nero a gift, chatted with Huckle, got Moppie some food, etc.) and went onwards... to Ludibrium, to repeat this exact same thing but with toy ducks instead.
