Should bowmen go for dex or str equips?

Scroll armor with STR, and put as little points as possible into STR.

Rest is obvious going to DEX unless you wash with base int

 

Scroll str what you can scroll str.
As there are no earrings for str,
No helmet for str and
No shoes for str (shoes don't have any other stat either but you get the point.)

The more base points in dex. The bigger Dex boost you get from Maple Warrior

 

Shoes for jump scrolls give DEX

 

Standard > stat-less for all classes in the long run.

For archers the weapon we use require STR, but more dex gives more damage (more base dex will allow maple warrior to give even more dex, so more damage). So as archers we want as much dex as we can get (and we want the most base dex because of maple warrior). So to still have enough STR to equip our end game bow (wich is probably Dragon Shiner Bow) we need 115 STR. Now fo wich equips can give you STR you use at end game:
Zakum Helmet - 15~17
Deputy Star - 5 (can chaos for more)
Overall (the level 100 green) - 6~7 (highly recommended to scroll with str, you want for later ingame to get over 30 minimum, but the server is still kinda fresh so personally i shoot for a bit above 20)
Cape - Scroll for more then 15
Not sure about shoes but should be shoes with a little STR.

All these above should give around 55 STR for the minimum you want, so with th 4 base str lets say you get 60 str with only equips and base (if you get a little above the minimum) so you need around 55 STR base to equip the bow.

This is probably the minimum you want as an archer;
15str helm
5str dep star
20str robe
15str cape.
wich gives 55 str +4base so 59 in total,lets round it to 60.

Remember the more STR you have from equips the less STR base so more DEX base so more total DEX ( maple warrior).

Do note this, at super late game you will have a pac or pgc, a cape that will give att so you will loose this bonus and you will need more bonuses from other equips, but this is so far ahead that you should not be worried.

Always try to get high base STR on items and if possible scroll with STR.

You should go for the lowest STR possible to equip your end game weapon.

 

Oh i forgot to add, maple warrior will also give you str, but very little.

 

I think str on your equips is a good idea. That way when you get deputy star, zhelm, (and maybe waaaay into the future) a horntail pendant, you won't have to waste so many ap resets moving your str to dex.

 

I have tried lowstr and strless for archers

would not recommend going strless, as your dmg will suck even if you would have a maple bow compared to a lowstr after lvl 80-90+(probly earlier) ~ * if you where using either a 64bow or 65 strless bow*

strless between lvl 1 - 15/20~ would probly be good, but 15/20 - 200 with strless sucks (x

TL;TR:
STRLESS dmg SUCKS
Extra str for more attack is more important than some extra dex, and always scroll for str due to mw only affecting base stats ( aka dex will be higher if you scroll for str)

 

Go low STR the goal is to get as close as possible to 115 str (Dragon shiner) with gear and have 999 dex, this will in turn give you the most benefit from Maple warrior as the % of stat increase is based on your base dex.

 

Think it's been said but STRless is very difficult if not impossible since that would mean going 10-65 using a War Bow/Crossbow, unless you had STR gear to wield better bows, then relying on a Magical Bow of Destruction, which after level 90-100, you would be weaker than low STR characters since they have their level 90/100/110 bows and crossbows. There are no crossbows that can be used as a STRless save for the level 12 one, so STRless Xbowman is out completely. Long story short, low STR is ideal. Regular STR if unfunded and if just using DEX equips instead of STR equips. Good thing about Bowmen is their armor only requires DEX to wear (the level 40 and under stuff does require STR, but from 50 onward you only need DEX).

The only way STRless is viable is if Maple weapons existed, and even then, it would lose out to low STR eventually.

You're gonna need 115 str for your dragon shiner.
The closer you can get to 115 with the help of equips the better
at which point you stack dex because dex >str.
