I understand how frustrating it is when a party member swipes a rare drop from a monster you killed. This seems to cause people to avoid partying at all. I would prefer if party members cannot pick up each other's drops. What does everyone think? Share and share alike? Finders keepers, losers weepers? Or to each their own?

I believe this is more of a a nerf than a help,
thinking about quest items, chair svc, etc... oh unless it was "on and off"

I was trying to find ways to encourage partying. I assumed a big reason people refuse to party is because they are afraid to have rare items swiped by random noobs.

I do like the on/off option. This could be set by each person in the "Settings" menu.

problem is far deeper than just drops, you're partaking in mesos and exp from others' kills as well

but try out the new leaf thing, it's like a server within a server

Why not just raise the meso drop rate and exp rate while in a party? You could even have a multiplier for damage, i.e. the party members that deal the most damage get more exp. Members that sit on the sideline get less.

that'd open more balancing issues that have to do with likes of multimage

Like fartsy said, it's a nerf. Right now it is based on how much dmg you do to a mob to certify that player getting the mesos or drops. ofc after sometime it will expire and it's up for grabs, just not immediately while in the party.

the issue with that is it can bring unbalance to the game. Essentially it makes a player overcome what is put in place, so toggling on/off wouldn’t make much of a difference in balance terms. Out of a party of 6 if one person has it toggled then they can just pick up over the other 5 members, which would be annoying imo.

In other games the party leader can determine loot settings for the group (free-for-all, master looter, personal loot, etc)

I assumed the toggle would work like this:

Loot sharing true: You can pick up other's loot and they can pick up your loot.

Loot sharing false: You cannot pick up other's loot and they cannot pick up your loot.

This could possibly apply to picking up abandoned loot as well.

I'm doing the Ironman challenge and part of the challenge is we cannot pick up abandoned loot. It's tricky when I am on a map, and someone drops loot on top of my loot. I just have to change channels to avoid picking up their loot.

What about pet accident loot. Could the toggle also be true for that? I’m all for making it fair but it should also make sense

Yeah. I think pets would have to be included to make it fair. If you can't pick up other's loot but your pet can, it kind of defeats the purpose.

True: You and your pet can...
False: You and your pet cannot...
