I've just explained that the decision is entirely based upon rules and official announcements. Facts that have been twisted (or purposely forgotten) by many people. Furthermore, the announcement has been amended already.

Actually, I thought of one last thing to say.

What is the purpose of such a strict adherence to a policy arbitrarily created at the server's conception? Is there something to gain from this? Respect? Weight to your word? A sheer sense of professionalism? What do you think players value more? That staff followed their ToS to the letter? Or that they do the right thing and help those in need?

When all is said and done and the server has sent its last packet, when we look back at all our time wasted playing a silly games like this, but making friends and interaction all the same... when we are on our death bed and our life is flashing before our eyes, and we remember Maple Legends... is this what you want the server to be remembered by?

What I still do not understand is why I was not given the chance to pay to get them back, I understand the staff feels I should not be given the items back for free as I did not provide proof of a scamm. However, why was I not even allowed the option of buying them back, I do not see what the problem is, I will still be losing a lot of mesos for items that were MINE, I wouldn't be getting refunded or getting off scot free from this situation.

This decision was not an easy one. There were many factors and considerations brought up during our extensive discussions, and it left us with no clear route to take. Eventually we decided on this because in our previous announcement here, we stated that we needed proof of agreement to be able to take action on scammers. We also have rejected past scam reports due to lack of evidence, thus it would be unfair to those players if we accepted this one. We realised that our rules may not be ideal, but applying any changes while investigations and discussion was ongoing would also have been unfair.

However, we cannot simply allow rule breakers to get away, and so we will punish the scammer accordingly and have the illegally obtained items removed from him. We take the integrity of the server seriously and will not compromise on this.

Going forward, the Terms of Service will be updated soon to improve it so that we can better handle these scenarios and make the server a better place for everyone.
