New thief player self-washing journey 2022

Hi everyone in the community. My name is Zach (in game ID TravelerZach). I am a new player to this game with little-to-no knowledge on pre big bang Maplestory. I started this server since, as far as I know, has a more complete quest system and Pink bean. I am not sure how long will I stay. However, inspired by the story of 'Getsmoked' and 'wurl', I wanna try writing down my journey here!

I want to play a ranged class, hence I need to make a choice among archer, assassin and gunslinger. I chose assassin since this class seems to have high survivability and mobility than the other two, which is good for a new player.

A hotly debated topic is called 'HP washing', which seems necessary if you want to fight strong bosses. Well I feel it is not that bad (but a bit unfriendly) to add some int at the beginning, and prepare 5 ap resets for 'MP washing' for each level up. I wanna try to add some int, progress slowly, and leave myself enough time for voting NX.

Day 1:

• Train as a beginner, then start the journey of a rogue until level 15
  • Level 1~6: add int from 10 to 35
  • Level 6~10: add dex from 5 to 25
  • Level 10~15: add int from 35 to 60, Nimble body from 0 to 16 for accuracy
• It is amazing that throwing snail shells is no-cost here! That steady 40 damage helps a lot in training.
• Meet a thief fellow at the Kerning City.

Day 2:

• Did Henesys PQ several times. Thanks for the help from Higashi and other party members FrozenMagic, Smokesletsgo, JxPuredeta

• Help NPC with easy quests. Throw snails to level 21
  • Level 15~21: add int from 60 to 90, Nimble body from 16 to 20, Lucky seven from 0 to 14

Next steps:

• I plan to start MP washing, then +5luk and +10int every 3 levels until Level 55. Need to slow down my pace for Vote NX.
• Try to buy a cheap dex-scrolled bathrobe

 

Day 3:

• Play time today: 1 hour
• Total play time: 4.5 hours
• I think fael is correct, I should start MP washing a bit later, but it does no harm if I have some spare NX for each level? Seems that the key is to play slowly haha.
• Did a few quests and got 60% exp. The stories among NPCs are interesting!
• Since the levelling is slow, I first got my golden pig who helps a lot in farming!
  

Next steps:

• Reach level 23 with 100 base int
• Add 10 luk/dex and 10 int every 4 levels until level 63 to get 200 base int.
• MP washing every level since level 24

 

Day 4:

• Play time today: 3 hours
• Total play time: 7.5 hours
• Get to level 23 by doing quests. Waited for a while to find a Mano and hunted him by throwing snail shells (I am sorry!).
  • Level 21~23: added luk from 6 to 16, Lucky seven from 14 to 20
  • Changed my plan since I find myself a bit struggling to fight monsters stronger than a Ribbon pig
• By chance I saw Coke Zero Pill is a good attack potion, but Cider seems better

• Finally start to throw stars rather than snail shells! Now 2~3 hits for green mushrooms, not bad.
• Got Cider in Showa town with return scroll. Well 3 per stack is a bit inconvenient indeed.

• Got to level 26 by joining KPQ. Thanks my team mates for carrying. Ligator is too strong for me to hunt right now.

• Modified plan:
  • Add 10 luk/dex and 10 int every 4 levels since Level 25, end up 200 int at level 65
  • Save NX for MP washing.
  • Thanks for the suggestion from Oliwia, let me try starting earlier with fresh AP and see if I could proceed well.
• Try to buy a badly luk-scrolled bathrobe.

 

Day 5:

• Play time today: 1 hour
• Total play time: 8.5 hours
• Get to level 27 by doing KPQ, Thanks Weihang12 and BigHeals for your help!
  • Started MP washing, added 10 fresh AP to MP

• I need to slow down this week for more AP Reset.

Next steps:

• Add 10 luk/dex and 10 int every 4 levels since Level 29, end up 200 int at level 65
• Slow down levelling up and farm Monster Cards

• Try to buy a badly luk-scrolled bathrobe.

 

Day 6:

• Play time today: 1.5 hour
• Total play time: 10 hours

• Farming cards at Lith Harbor and Mushroom Garden, progress slowly....

• Bought some starter gears!

Next steps:

• Add 10 luk and 10 int every 4 levels
• Have difficulty in finding a poorly luk-scrolled bathrobe. Perhaps I should scroll one? I feel even tiny bit of stats help a lot.

 

Day 7:

• Play time today: 2 hours
• Total play time: 12 hours

• Farmed cards.....I actually levelled up by farming snails....

• Got my first cape from Jane Doe. Is living like a Zombie good or bad? Wish you all the best anyway.

Next steps:

• Add 10 luk and 10 int every 4 levels and MP washing every level.
• Work on starter gears

 

Day 8:

• Play time today: 2 hours
• Total play time: 14 hours
• Finally got enough AP reset, can continue levelling up
• Advanced to an Assassin! I missed a lot of attacks but manage to pass the test. The map is pretty cool!

• Kerning PQ until level 31.

Next steps:

• Add 10 luk and 10 int every 4 levels and MP washing every level.
• Save mesos and buy a better claw
