Hi everyone! I’m back back back again to express my thoughts on the Style Saver in MapleLegends!

I asked the community about this topic last year and the response was overwhelmingly unanimous. I fear that the suggestion fell through the cracks and got buried in (understandably) more important suggestions, but I'd still like to bring it back up because it effects some players more than others.

    Previous Post For Reference

Like many others, I love changing my character’s look every once in a while, especially my character’s hair and face! It’s fantastic that we can collect infinite past event hairstyles and faces in the Style Saver to revert back to whenever we choose. But there’s a big drawback... losing 10 million mesos.

    Broke_Image.png

I, like many others, feel that the meso requirement is extremely high! Especially because it costs 10 million EACH. That totals 20 million if you want to change both your hair and face! That’s a lot of mesos!

For me, changing my look is the most fun part of the game, but I’m often held back by the barrier of this meso requirement. Especially since earning mesos isn’t my preferred way to play the game! I don’t boss, and I don’t merch. I just sit around, look cute, and socialize with my friends!

I know what some of you are going to say:

“Go kill a few bosses and then sell the coins!” But I don’t really enjoy bossing, and it requires me to sink mesos into pots and buy decent equips...

“Just learn the free market and merch for a couple of days to get the mesos.” Well... I don’t enjoy merching and that also requires mesos to start, so that’s out.

    “Find a sugar dadd—” NOPE.

These aren’t aspects of the game that I engage with or find fun in, and it’s not the reason I log in. I don’t plan on doing something that I don’t find enjoyable.

    Possible solutions:

NX Solution: Create a coupon that lets you change hair/face using Style Saver. This option is favorable because it could positively impact the server by increasing our standing on voting websites! It’s also a good idea because, due to the HP washing system, voting might decrease, and this is a great way to offset that loss.

Quest Solution: Create a small questline, similar to the Amoria hair quest!

Purchasable Event Coupon: Similar to the bundle cosmetics you can buy during events, a Style Saver single coupon & bundle coupon could be included as a reward for event points!

I feel very strongly about this issue, more so now than ever because of the recent drop in coin value, which has made it harder than ever to generate mesos. I just want to change my look, man!

I would love to hear from the community on this topic, especially from staff!

I understand that this issue is not a priority and will probably never be a priority because, let’s face it, the majority of players focus on the fighting & gearing aspects of the game... and naturally generate mesos that way (making this a non-issue). But I also want to advocate for those of us who enjoy the DRESS-UP part of the game exclusively (making it a bit harder to naturally obtain mesos). I know I’m not the only one who sees the 10 million price as a huge hurdle to overcome for such a low-stakes reward.

Thanks for reading this far, I hope you all have a great day-month-year-life!

Big agree TT__TT even as a player that bosses/grinds 10,000,000 meso is such a high amount that I rarely use the style saver to revert back to old hair/face. It's a much more "permanent" use than hair/face tickets that cost vote cash only because of the meso sink. Changing my look at the style saver and then realizing I don't like it and needing to change it back to something else is 20-40m depending on if I changed both hair and face or just one, which is a ridiculous cost for an aesthetic change that, in all other cases, only requires vote cash. Even with a couple characters in the 14x range, I rarely feel like I have enough meso to freely use the style saver without saving for quite a while to put the funds aside.

In the vein of having a quest to use the style saver, I think that having a quest which discounts the price either permanently or for X amount of time before you have to redo the quest would be a great option. There could also be something like a turn in quest similar to ones that reward town scrolls (orbis/eos rock scrolls, deadmine) that rewards style saver coupons. I think there are a lot of possibilities and avenues to improve the style saver which, at its core, is a GREAT inclusion to the QoL on ML, but it definitely needs a little updating.

Big agree, style saver is a great feature, but I’d never spend 10mil to change cosmetics - even an NX fee would be preferable

Maybe we need meso sinks still, but in any case I don’t think Style Saver is taxing the proper demographic

I will mention that Style saver's meso tax is only applicable to event styles, and mildly to exp styles. A vast quantity of styles are available for the cost a VIP ticket from the Cash Shop. I don't think style saver was designed to be changing styles so frequently, hence the cost.

^ True, however, lets be honest the event styles are a million times better than most if not all of the VIP and a small portion of the EXP styles. So if we're changing our looks, past event styles would be the preferred option. Plus, the style saver not being designed to allow us to change our styles so frequently would be the exact issue we're looking at here and hoping to change. Especially for those of us who enjoy the dress up part of the game a lot more than most other aspects of it.

I too am one of those people, and if I could I'd be changing my hair and face daily which wouldn't even be an exaggeration as I've done exactly that back when I just started out on the server, scored a pouch 5, and didn't have any in-game financial goals. Now that I'm actually trying to save up for things, events are the only times when I get to have a fresh new look almost as often as I'd like SlimeSad The suggestions here would be an amazing change! +1 on the NX solution

    Can't agree more!
I've recently found out about it and since I can only get money by leeching which I'm ok-ish with doing I wished it would be cheaper to do that, as I like to change my face/hair a lot!

we could move the style saver functionality to chief tatamo, who will discount future style changes once you make sufficient generous donations to the people of leafre

My inside sources tell me that discounted style saver is tied to completing Tier 6 of the HP challenges

Agreed on both solutions, I feel like a coupon works or possibly a DP item that permanently saves your face/hair. Also if the small questline would make it some what similar to Water of Life + Life Scroll quest to revive pets that would be excellent. :D

Even halving the price would be fine at this point. 10m is pretty steep for ONE change a pop, especially in these hard times of 1.9m coins and lower priced scrolls/items across the board. It also unfairly punishes newer players because 10m is quite a lot for them to have on average.

Fashion is like 80% of the reason I even play this game ngl, and I wish it was more economic to be able to swap between your catalogue of hairs and faces mostly hairs though i almost never change my face ngl

Putting a reply here to hopefully bump the suggestion and get more eyes on this! I would love love love a staff reply if possible! I'd be happy to know any information regarding the suggestion, even if it's just being ignored because it's a low priority haha! I'm very passionate about this topic!

Make the cost start at 0, and then increase by 500k each time you use it.

Interesting suggestion but in all honesty I don't think we should punish players for wanting to be creative and change their style, as it's not something that gives them an advantage in the game. That idea could feel nice at the start, but very quickly it would deter players from wanting to change their hair/face EVEN MORE than the already present meso sink, knowing that it will inflate the price and they might want to save that decision for a later time. My original suggestions aim to make the burden of changing hair/face through the style saver feel LESS punishing, and I know myself and some others would be well over 10m if the change you are suggesting is implimented because we use the style saver frequently. Thanks for throwing your idea out there though! I think that idea of a compounded meso increase could work, but maybe with a monthly reset or a maximum cap amount, lets say at 2.5m or something cheaper than what we currently have!
