Guide for MAC [NEW] MacOS Installation Guide & FAQ

    MapleLegends for MacOS comes in two forms: Crossover & Wineskin. Please check the relevant section. To know which MacOS you're on, please click the Apple icon on the top left of your screen. Click "about this mac".

    WORKS on MacOS 10.13 and higher (includes Catalina & Big Sur)
    WORKS on M1/ARM products (Macbook 2020+)
    DOES NOT work on Sierra or lower (MacOS 10.12 or lower)

    [​IMG] How to Install [​IMG]
    1. Download the latest MapleLegends Client (Crossover) here.

    2. Download & install Crossover from here. (Don't need to put in your real details)
    We recommend buying this product here https://www.codeweavers.com/store, as it's cheaper than buying a Windows OS for Parallels/Bootcamp.
    However, if you don't want to, there is a way to extend the trial period below.


    3. Go to your application folder, find Crossover and right click and press 'open'.
    DO NOT double click.

    4. Press Command + O and open MapleLegends.

    5. You should be able to launch MapleLegends now!

    [OPTIONAL] Apparently disabling "Performance Enhanced Graphics"
    in Crossover allows for smoother frame rates & less lag.
    Additionally, playing fullscreen helps too with CPU usage.

    [​IMG] EXTENDING the Trial Period [​IMG]
    Code:
    1. Launch Crossover at least once, then close it.
    
    2. Download PlistEdit Pro from https://www.fatcatsoftware.com/plisteditpro/
    
    3. Open your Home folder: Macintosh HD⁩ ▸ ⁨Users⁩ ▸ ⁨[insert user]
    
    4. Press Command + Shift + G and type:
    library/preferences
    
    4. Open "com.codeweavers.CrossOver.plist" with PlistEdit.
    
    5. Change "FirstRunDate" to sometime in the wayyy future, then save it.
    
    6. Your trial period is extended!

    [​IMG]Game Doesn't Launch![​IMG]
    If you've followed all the steps above and the game still doesn't launch please try:

    [SOLUTION 1] If you crash right after the logo/animations, install the following:

    [SOLUTION 2] Open "System Preferences" > "Security & Privacy" > "Privacy" >
    "Full Disk Access" > Add Crossover using the + icon:

    [SOLUTION 3] If it does not launch, you have an anti-virus.
    Please follow the instructions here:

    [SOLUTION 4] Please delete Crossover. Then disable your anti-virus.
    Reinstall Crossover & MapleLegends. Then repeat Solution 1 & 2.
    Once you confirm MapleLegends to be running, you can re-enable your anti-virus.

    [​IMG]Bottle Expired[​IMG]
    1. Press Command + Shift + G and type:
    library/application support/crossover/bottle

    OR

    Open Crossover, and right click the MapleLegends bottle and click "open c_drive". Go to the parent directory by pressing Command + UP

    2. Open "system.reg" with TextEditor

    3. Find "InstallTime"

    4. Change the InstallTime & NagTime to (should work until August 10th, 2021):
    "InstallTime"=dword:6b52879a
    "NagTime"=dword:6d10837d

    5. Save the file.

    You can also find a new Install/Nagtime, by installing a program via Crossover (like Notepad++) and then opening up the system.reg for that bottle and finding the newly generated Install/Nagtime. Copy from that file, and paste it into the MapleLegends system.reg! ^^

    :health: How to Multi Client :health:

    1. Open Crossover.

    2. Right click MapleLegends, press "show in finder".

    3. Duplicate the MapleLegends program as many times as you want.

    4. Launch MapleLegends!

    :mana: How to Change Settings (Resolution, Dark Chat, Etc) :mana:
    1. Open Crossover.

    2. Click the bottom left gear icon, and "open drive_c".

    3. Go to the MapleLegends folder.

    4. Open Legends.ini with TextEdit and make the appropriate changes.

    5. Save the file, and launch MapleLegends.

    [​IMG] Read/Type Other Languages [​IMG]
    1. Open Crossover.

    2. Click the bottom left gear icon, and "open drive_c".

    3. Go to the folder ABOVE "drive_c", by pressing Command + Up.

    4. Open cxbottle.conf with TextEdit.

    5. Scroll to the very bottom and change "LANG" = "xx_xx.UTF-8".

    For Korean: replace "xx_xx" with "ko_KR"
    For simplified Chinese: replace "xx_xx" with "zh_CN"
    For traditional Chinese: replace "xx_xx" with "zh_TW"
    For Japanese: replace "xx_xx" with "ja_JP"

    Codes for other languages can be found here.

    For example, if you were to change it to Korean, it should read:

    6. Back in Crossover, right click the MapleLegends bottle and click
    "Install Software into "MapleLegends""

    7. Search for "Asian Font Component" and install it into your bottle.

    8. Launch the game!

    [​IMG] How to Install[​IMG]
    1. Download the latest MapleLegends Client (Wineskin) here.

    2. In your downloads folder, right click and press 'open' on the MapleLegends.pkg.

    3.Go to your applications folder and right click, show package contents on MapleLegends.app.

    4. Open "Wineskin".

    5. Go to advanced > tools > refresh wrapper.

    5. Exit Wineskin, then click "Play MapleLegends".

    5. Your game should be running smoothly!

    [​IMG] Client Does Not Pop Up When Launching [​IMG]
    A) Open up your Activity Monitor, and quit all processes called Maple, xQuartz, Wine, Wineskin

    B)
    Go to your applications folder and right click, show package contents on MapleLegends.app.

    C) Open "Wineskin".

    D) Go to advanced > tools > refresh wrapper.

    E) Exit "Wineskin" and go back and press "Play MapleLegends"

    [System Preference Method*]
    Open "System Preferences" > "Security & Privacy" > "Privacy" >
    "Full Disk Access" > Add Crossover using the + icon:

    [Terminal Method]
    A)
    Open Wineskin again, and in "set screen options" try toggling the use Mac Driver/X11 setting.

    B) Grant your user account permissions to run MapleLegends:

    1. Open the Terminal application (black/white box)
    
    2. Type in "sudo chown -R $USER: /Applications/MapleLegends.app/Contents/Resources"
    
    3. Enter in your password for your computer and press enter.
    You will not see it being typed out for security reasons.
    
    4. Once finished, try pressing "Play MapleLegends"

    A) Open Wineskin

    B) In "set screen options" try toggling the use Mac Driver/X11 setting.
    This works for some people. Breaks for others. Stick with the setting that lets you at least launch the game.

    [​IMG] Client Launches, But Crashes After Neckson/Wizet Logo [​IMG]
    1. Download xQuartz from here.

    2. Install it

    3. Launch the game again ;) this should fix it along with any other broken fonts you may have had before (if you had any).

    :health: How to Multi Client :health:
    There is no need to duplicate your MapleLegends.app anymore!

    1. Go to your applications folder and right click, show package contents on MapleLegends.app.

    2. Click "Play MapleLegends"

    3. Click "Play MapleLegends" again. Tada!

    Foxpat Frequently Asked Questions

    Q: The moment I login, I crash!
    A: Please get the latest patch here.

    Q: My client keeps freezing after restarting my computer!
    A: This is a known issue on MacOS. After you restart your computer, please let your computer sit around (ON or asleep) for an hour or so and the freezes should go away. DO NOT keep it off.

    PSA: While it's annoying when your game freezes, we recommend restarting your mac at least once a week (for device health reasons).

    Q: I logged in successfully, but when I click my character I crash!
    A: Select your character and press "enter" on your keyboard.

    OR Do not select a world, pressing "view all characters" and enter using your mouse.

    OR Restart your computer.

    OR (if Crossover) Turn your Performance Enhance Graphics option back on.
