    Hello all!

We wish to give another status update on the Valentine's Patch.

First of all, we want to apologize that as per usual with MapleLegends events the date is later than expected. We always wish to provide a quality patch, and unfortunately, that requires a lot of work, as well as testing.

While not everything, we wish to provide what to expect on the upcoming patch

    ~ Wedding fixes ~

A while back, our wedding system was revamped. This was done by making the super hacky custom code into authentic "BMS-leak" code. This means all correct packets and functions get used. For example, in our very old wedding code, the big heart effect when getting married was not present.

After the "revamp" users were left with quite a bit of old and new bugs. For example, users getting married would have their ring showing they are married to themselves, ring effects sometimes not working, and other minor to medium bugs.

One bug, in particular, kept us "roadblocked" for quite a while, which is the issue where the ring effect was not working sometimes. We knew how to replicate it, but not how to fix it. Turns out after much looking there was a very tiny bit of server-sided source code not doing something correctly. After such, we believe to now fix this issue hopefully for good on our tespia build.

    ~ APQ stage improvements ~

For quite a while we've received feedback about APQ Stage 2. If someone disconnects, users are getting stuck and are unable to continue their APQ run. We are currently beta testing a fix in order for users to still progress if such a thing occurs. Stay tuned!

    ~ Couple stage fix ~

While not many make use of the couple stage of APQ after the revamp this stage has broken completely. The reason for it was that the code that handles the couple stage was not updated correctly for the newly refactored code. As such, as soon someone wants to access the stage, the server denies it due to broken code.

We hope to have this fixed upcoming patch.

    ~ Client changes ~

Upcoming patch we have a massive amount of refactoring of our code that handles all the client modifications.

The Legends.ini will be cleaned up and have new additions, as well as some things removed that were not even working or not working right.

The client will boot significantly faster, and hopefully will be more stable in general.

~ Client changes: Quality of Life improvements ~

As mentioned in my end of the year thread, our focus remains on making the game smooth to play, which is done by altering the client and changing behaviours that to us just makes no sense.

    NPC shops

Next patch pressing "enter" will no longer close the NPC shop window. Users are probably aware that when you are selling items, you press enter on the confirm window and sometimes accidentally pressing enter twice, which causes the NPC window to close. We see no logical reason why this exists, which is why we are removing this functionality from the client.

You can still close the NPC window by pressing "ESC" like before.

    Legendary Spirit / Scrolling changes

As mentioned in prior threads, we will have a fully working way to cancel Legendary Spirit, as well as regular scrolling White Scroll usage.

The problem in the past has been that sometimes people forget to uncheck the White Scroll checkbox, which then caused users to accidentally use a White Scroll.

Upcoming patch ALL white scroll attempts will have an additional prompt so you have a second chance to cancel it and not use it.

A completely custom "Cancel" button has been added as well, which allows you to do exactly that - completely cancelling the scroll request.

Additionally, White Scrolls, as well as Chaos Scrolls, are able to be stored inside the Cash Shop, reducing even further your chance of accidentally using them.

We really hope after all these implementations the "I've accidentally used a White Scroll and get mad at the staff for making this mistake" are gone for good.

Quitting the game now has a confirmation prompt

Another mistake users make from time to time is accidentally quitting the game while bossing. Upcoming patch, pressing "Quit game" from the menu, pressing "X" on the window, as well as using ALT + F4 will give you an additional prompt.

This behaviour is likely not appreciated by everyone, which is why we have added an additional setting in Legends.ini if you wish to disable it.

We have tested it for quite a while and were unable to crash the client upon pressing "Cancel" or things like that.

Protip: If you wish to quickly close your client with this setting turned on you can quickly press "X" twice and it will close the client anyway. We have implemented this in case you wish to not accidentally close the game, but do wish to close the game quickly from time to time.

This is not everything yet, and we also have made additional changes that will be provided on the day of the patch. For example, we made a small, but probably appreciated change with "Owl of Minerva" that will be explained further in the patch notes.

We thank you once more for your patience. Hopefully, even though it's delayed, we are able to provide a smooth experience. I've always prefered a delayed update over one that is rushed and users experiencing client crashes left and right, so we want to make sure all the modifications we've applied are going smoothly.
