Hi, if you hear nothing but background music, it might be because your SFX is turned off.

Go to system settings (or game options? I forget which), and check if your SFX (sound effects) turned on. It should be right below BGM.

Also, this isn't really high priority bug :F3:

Did you check if "Mute" was unchecked for Sound?

By attacks are you implying that mob sounds, mob skills, and such things work fine?

    Ok, let's try some things.

    1. Try re-installing maplelegends, make sure it's trusted by your anti-virus

    2. If that doesn't work, try updating audio driver

    3. Try reinstalling DirectX

    4. If you have any spare headphones, earbuds, speakers, try them instead.

Let me know if you need help with 1,2 and 3

Let us know if it still doesn't work.

for future reference, these are suggestions i made for him.
    1) reinstall maplelegends and make sure you whitelist it on your anti-virus

If you use windows, you have Windows Defender on by default. If you have any other anti-virus, refer to this link

    For Windows Defender:
    1. Open Windows Defender Security Center
    2. Click on Virus & threat protection
    3. Click on Virus & threat protection settings
    4. Click on Add or remove exclusions
    5. Click on add an exclusion
    6. Locate your MapleLegends installation folder and make sure you exclude the whole folder.

    2) Updating sound driver depends on your motherboard, but usually Device Manager finds the best driver for you.

    1. Open Device Manager
    2. Click on Audio inputs and outputs
    3. Find your audio device and right click on it. (most times it's called Realtek. If you see any virtual audio driver, update that too)
    4. Go to Driver tab, and click on Update Driver
    5. Click on Search automatically for updated driver software

While you're on this step, update your graphics card driver. It's under "Display adapters"

    3) Reinstalling Direct X
turns out this is more complicated and may be unnecessary. Instead, try running Windows Update and see if that helps at all.

    4) Changing Audio mode

Maybe your speaker is on mono, or stereo, or 5.1, or 7.1 that maplestory may not support?

    https://yourbusiness.azcentral.com/change-headset-audio-mono-stereo-using-windows-vista-21664.html

follow steps in that link and try each settings to see if any of them fixes the problem.

    5) Compatibility mode

    Follow the guide here,

    https://forum.maplelegends.com/index.php?threads/windows-8-10-turn-off-compatibility-mode.21074/

    try a few things here.

    Try it without compatibility,

if that didn't work, try it with compatibility, and go down the list of Windows versions to see if any of them works.
