Ok, I got carried away there, but to get back on topic, I think Gachapon is the root of most of these problems. The change that made Gachapon drops from mobs was immensely damaging to the server. For its time it was great because it removed a really dumb vote 2 win mechanic. How it was implement created a ton of issues though. Every mob drops gacha tickets that all pull from the same pool and these gacha tickets are far more reliable drops than scrolls and equips from mobs. This means that the most efficient way to farm becomes a matter of how many mobs you can kill per minute. Any mobs will do. There is really no reason to farm shit like Dark Drakes when you can hammer away at crap like Ulu or even DF/BL5. I really think the amount of scrolls in particular from gacha tickets should be severely cut back and rare gacha tickets should be entirely removed from the drop table of popular grinding spots. There is absolutely no reason why anyone should essentially be able to farm platinum coins at Ulu for example.

That comes down to personal preference. If you only want to main a mage and the only content you want to run is PB, then yeah there's probably not much to do. It might be worth asking yourself if that's all you want out of this game, I think.

If I'm using myself as an example, I don't farm atm or sell leech. All of my income is from boss runs. I'm currently working on levelling a Bucc. I don't have grand goals for it; it will never have a perfect weapon or a T10 MB ring. Hell, it only has 8 wa gloves and a 17 dex cape currently. But I still have goals for it nonetheless, like currently I'm just trying to get it to 173 so it can run Core Blaze.

If you only want perfect weapons and to just run PB, but you aren't able to commit long hours towards grinding, I think you're going to have a pretty bad time here. There's other things to do in the game, albeit limited options, but if none of those appeal to you, the issue might not be with the game state, but with your own personal tastes, and I'd imagine you would have more fun in a different game more suited to the experience you are after.

My point is just that people would care less about others running hyper optimized setups if they had more options for fun stuff to aim for and less egregiously long grinds on a few highly contested maps. It already applies in 2nd and 3rd job but 4th job suffers because there is simply less content available.

Fun is subjective. I prefer to just level through casual daily bossing (most of my Bucc's progression is from just daily Zak/Pap/Rav). There are more options than just long grinds on contested maps if you're just playing casually.

The nerf is why it is accepted, balance changes are generally not marked as accepted prior to it being applied to live servers.
