A boss that can't be beat (yet)

    What I suggest is a boss that is a 'legend'. A boss that players keep trying and trying to kill but it's just so tough that it takes attempt after attempt before it finally falls.
    And I hate to pop this question right after an update of like 25 different updates, but yeah.

    I don't know how else to put it, anyone else get me?

    Well, I don't think ML is about custom bosses. It's about being close to original old maple with reasonable balance changes. So I don't see this happening at all.

    Plus, Pink Bean was unbeatable before big bang happened, so it'd be quite close to what you are describing.

    But why is pink bean unbeatable? Is it just because of a stupidly-low time limit?

    At the time, yes. 1 hour wasn't enough to dish out 2.1b damage to pink bean plus all the statues. I remember when pink bean first got released in KMS; a lot of parties couldn't even get past statues.

    Not only the stupidly-low time limit, but pink bean itself resists physical damage (so you do like half the damage you would normally do as an attacker class). On top of that, it spends like half the time in damage reflect mode, so its as if the body of pink bean has 4 times the HP it actually has.

    Pink Bean was actually defeated before big bang, but really late. Around v86 when potentials got released.

    Well if we're gonna throw Pink Bean on the table, It would be amazing to see PB defeated by this server without Big Bang and without potential equips

    My suggestion doesn't mean Pink Bean necessarily though

    Might be more helpful if you had more suggestions than just "strong boss monster." Try to answer concerns that might arise, like balancing, rewards, custom vs. authenticity, difficulty of programming, etc. Otherwise, the suggestion is as good as "let's make the game better."

    im pretty sure, alot of the endgame players here would love to team up and try to fight PB, it would be amazing to do tbh.
    with zombify and DR a thing, i hope one day it is available.
    only issue if hella ppl die, theres no wheel of destiny, so we cant get ressed all the time

    I think we should have pink bean, maybe with tweaks, I dunno, but with a much higher time limit. It doesn't make any sense why other bosses give you way more time to beat, but then literally the hardest, most cheesy boss in the game only gives you one hour.

    On that subject, I think damage reflect needs a tweak as well. All my previous experiences with it is like, the reflect applies before you even see it clearly happening. So then you have to rely on timers and other BS, when really it should be a matter of being somewhat attentive and not botting. lol

    Besides the time limit, ranged attackers need something like 11.6k hp BEFORE HB to survive PB...not to sound pessimistic, but I don't think it's possible in its original state. Unless its damage is heavily nerfed, I only see mages and warrior even attempting it. (If it is nerfed tho, what's the point of fighting a weak PB?)

    I'm sure we have a few ranged players on this server who have washed ridiculous amounts. Perhaps we could also have a quest ring released that gives another 1K or so HP to make this slightly more attainable?

    its possible to time the animation of DR. most mobs has an animation/selfbuff before DRing

    So is PB really the only thing left to kill? Sorry if that's a dumb question, but I have almost no Maple knowledge of anything past Cygnus Knights, and I was hoping a boss tougher than HT exists other than PB.

    But if not, I'm with Lionheart- PB with higher time limit.

    Seems like my suggestion was understood pretty well... Concerns are what the reply button is for and so far I don't see any confused replies except for yours

    Chaos HT does damage reflect

    chaos zak drops 10% hp/mp helms, so not sure if thats possible to code in
    would be dope to see Cygnus in here doe omfg ;)

    I feel that if harder and harder bosses come out, it becomes more difficult to balance the current roster of bosses around the new equipment that would be necessary to kill the new theoretical bosses. There's become a pretty hard set limit as to what equipment the player base has become accustomed to and accepting of, and the trouble comes in trying to retain that balance with new harsher content and not devaluing the achievements of what people have already accomplished. The Neo-Tokyo weapons haven't really devalued the current set of perfect weapons as they are only a small increase in overall damage while remaining difficult to obtain, but in order to create more difficult content it becomes necessary to have weapons or armor that devalue those achievements.

    There aren't really any viable options for increasing the power of the current set of items, at least none that would make the current player base satisfied while retaining the classic sense of the server. Facestompers could be added, but for balance reasons they've been left in favor of the expiring socks. MoN have been nerfed due to them being overpowered compared to the relative ease of the content they come from. Any other content just doesn't seem to retain the classic sense of the server so as far as new content goes we've pretty well hit the limit of what this server can achieve equipment wise. That's the trouble that developers face, coming up with content that satisfies the base without devaluing current content and trying to retain the sense of what people appreciate about the server in the first place.

    Currently things are pretty good, and the nerfs from this latest patch will be helpful in keeping things balanced in regards to keeping things fair and balanced. For that the GM's have my thanks for all their hard work. OnionHi

    You could introduce hammers, which increase the power level of existing items by ALOT.
