Why did the playercount increase recently?

There's been a huge increase in player count but I don't recall anything out of the norm that happened recently.

Why are there so many players online now, at a time without events? Just out of curiosity.

 

I think the increase of streamers helped to improve popularity of the game!

 

This fresh feeling of "hero buffs coming" in the air makes everyone come back to the game

finally people admitted that we are the best, as much as it hurts for some to admit

 

I feel like the last event draw a decent audience, and a bunch of folks stuck around for longer than usual? But that only accounts for a percentage of currently active.

I love to see 1,000+ players online!

 

An unconfirmed source from the discord said royals staff recently did a large permanent ban wave for voting abuse, so this could account for a good portion.

 

For me and my friend who just recently started playing in this server again after years of being gone, the topic of MS had randomly come up during a Discord conversation, and that snowballed into us rediscovering this server and jumping back in. Been playing consistently for the past couple weeks on my new Sin with her as a Cleric. Been a fun time, and we're glad to be back. :]

The last year the amount of content (mostly small docu's) surrounding Oldschool Maple has increased and is of very high quality. After watching some vids I got the vibe to play again and this server comes closest to Old School in rates and active players in the lower level brackets.

 

Hopefully the anniversary event is released soon to capitalize this surge. I see most new players in their 2nd job and a few approaching 3rd job advancement. Maple weapons are fantastic upgrades for them and it can further enhance their old-school maple nostalgia trip.

from what i heard because i asked a bit around in game myself and what i came to learn is a bunch of people from royal migrated here and school finals are done giving free time to play

 

when i asked around some people also mentioned some streamers playing old school maple

 

the effect of tiktok/youtube/twitch streamers are making a big impact. saw a single tiktok streamer bring in 10+ new users this week
