Currently, with their stack limit of 200, Prestigious coins make for a bad currency when making high value trades. With an average value of ~2mil, this puts a single inventory slot at potentially 400mil. Since there's only 9 slots in a trade window, it means that the highest value you can add there to be 3.6bil in prestigious coins + 2.1bil in mesos, or 5.7bil from generally accepted currency.

That's not really an adequate number considering there are hundreds of items with higher value.

Alternatively, I suppose Bag 5's could be used as a currency? It's just weird that the rng bag is probably the only high value item with potential to be used as a currency, and it's weird that the bags become a worse currency by opening them, and lose value when trying to make them back into a high value currency.

Instead of increasing stack rate, there should just be a 2bil coin that costs 2.05 bil mesos that can be NPC’d back for 1.95 bil. This would allow for larger trades and would incur tax only when the currency is being converted back into meso format. Sure, players would be incentivized to use the coin as a means to avoid tax on high ticket items, but its existence will eliminate a ton of mesos from circulation, acting as a temporary meso sink. It won’t impede on market utility shenanigans or be seen as an investment purchase either (unlimited supply).

The only uncertainty is whether buyers or sellers will have the power to dictate who pays the tax. In the trade, both parties will have to agree to which value takes which side of the barter. E.G, if I’m selling a 5 bil item, someone could offer me two 2 bil coins and 1bil mesos as a form of payment. Technically, I could value that as only a 4.9bil payment, while the buyer could value that as a 5.1 bil expense. The norms of trade have not been established yet so idk how things will work out in legends. Perhaps both parties will incur the tax evenly and value the coin at 2bil both ways. Perhaps not.

People using items with utility as currency assume a large risk, but I think making prestigious coins too stackable only contributes to the hoarding/investing sentiments since prestigious coins still have inherent utility value. Essentially, people shouldn’t be using prestigious coins for high ticket trades in the first place, but we are definitely missing a safe and viable means to do this without an end game currency. At the moment, there is no reason for someone not to keep hoarding prestigious coins because there only will be an increase in demand for white scrolls/chaos scrolls, and prestigious coins are the only methods for obtaining and merching them. Making them stack and usable as currency is a bad idea as it also makes hoarding them more viable as well. I’d actually argue that even a 200 stack is too large.
