Improving Band of Thieves (only)

    All right, I made a thread about Chief Bandit as an overall job, but I mostly had input about the rest of the skills in its skill tree other than Band of Thieves. After playing Chief Bandit for a while again, I actually forgot just HOW bad Band of Thieves is.

    The attack doesn't come out if the initial attack doesn't hit, the range is terrible, the skill does the stabbing animation making it almost impossible to hit vertical moving small targets (i.e. stirges and flyeyes), AND it has nearly zero vertical-ity on it (The summoned bandits can't even hit the miner zombie on top of the logs).

    If nothing else, I think:
    - Band of Thieves should have more of a vertical hitbox to it.
    - The rest of the skill should trigger even if the initial attack doesn't hit a target.

    I actually kinda like BoT only triggering when the initial attack lands as it makes it somewhat unique and gives the skill more character as opposed to just being a reskinned arrow rain/eruption. The skill could definitely use an improved range though and seeing as how both Shining Ray and DrK's crusher skills got their vertical range increased in a balance patch about a year ago, I don't see why the same couldn't be done for BoT as well (and perhaps to its horizontal range too). In fact, they did improve the hitbox scaling across levels for BoT in that same patch but for whatever reason decided to leave the max level hitbox unchanged.

    better vertical range is good qol but removing the requirement for the initial attack to land just turns it into a retextured heal

    Re-textured Heal? Are you saying that only because I'm fighting undead creatures? You realize Heal only hits Undead right?

    And no, it'd follow the design philosophy of almost every single other 3rd job area-of-effect skill; I suppose by your logic it'd then be a re-textured every one of those. If the scenario I provided was having only miner zombies on top of the logs, then unless I jump-skill-activate, then I'd constantly hit none of them, therefore never activating the area-of-effect and wasting time; why would that make sense when, from a visual standpoint, Band of Thieves is OTHER thieves attacking the enemies, not the user attacking the enemies.

    Would it be cool if BoT becomes a self-buff and triggers on any attack that lands? So the normal BoT would just be your regular attack.
