Introduction

I've dabbled in playing various classes like Bishop, both Fire/Poison and Ice/Lightning Arch Mages, and a Shadower. This time, I'm eager to try my hand at a ranged attacker, and my options are: Bowmaster, Marksman, Nightlord, Corsair, and Not Dark Knight.

After receiving some popular recommendations, I've decided to give Corsair a shot, mainly because the skill 'Air Strike' (or 'Aerial Strike') looks incredibly enticing. Although it has a 5-second cooldown and only hits up to 6 mobs, the vertical range of this skill seems impressively large. My plan is to give Corsair a go, focusing on maxing out 'Air Strike,' and then I'll assess whether I want to further invest in Corsair as my primary ranged attacker.


The Character



"Niao" (鸟 Niăo / bird) is a name inspired by Aerial Strike and the character is designed with a mercenary theme in mind.

It's a play on words that connects the character's abilities and appearance with the concept of a bird, which aligns well with the idea of an airborne gun-wielding mercenary.

 

Unfortunately this is a non-profit journal.

You peepoo like pewpew too? Gotta do some prep work before creating my pewpew.

After reading some guides, I've decided to HP wash with the goal of 18,750 HP at lv160, so I’ll have 30k HP after HB.

First, I’ll need to find out how much HP and how many times to wash. Then find out how much extra MP I need to AP Reset from MP into HP.

Code:

HP Goal: 18,750 at lv160
Min HP at lv160: 3,900
HP to wash: 18,750 - 3,900 - 1,100(rings) = 13,750 HP
HP to MP Conversion: 18 HP to 16 MP
Number of washes:  13,750 HP / 18 = 764 washes
Extra MP needed: 764 washes x 16 = 12,224 MP

Plug this 12,224 into my magic table:



The green section shows the most optimal use of AP Resets, but that’d mean having to add at least 300 base INT.

The good is my character will be able to wash out by lv135, but I don’t really wana cripple my character too much that I don’t get to enjoy the grinding process. I’ll most likely self-leech at some point but at least I’d like to experience different parts of the journey.

So I’m looking at the section manually indicated in the red box, with 190 base INT as the ideal choice. Numbers show that I’ll be MP washing for 118 levels, starting from lv41 to lv159. Total AP Reset needed will be 776 which includes MP washes and resets from base INT back to main stat. The result will be 12,272 extra MP.



To compensate for the lack of damage due to having to add INT, I’m gona prepare some gears.

First, I’m looking to scroll a STR bathrobe and see how much I can get to be able to equip the highest level possible gun.

Bought 2x OA STR 10%. My plan was to try some limited amount of 10% scrolls, and if they fail, I’ll just make something out of 60% and 70% scrolls.





Went better than expected, passing a 10% scroll on the 2nd attempt and 60% the rest.



Time to see what I have for the other equip slots.

I have a 2 STR, 2 DEX, 10 WA Lunar Gloves that my Shadower used.

70%/60% one of my 2 STR clean socks and passed 4/7.

Hat and earring from Coorie’s budget hunts.

With 4 base STR and 20 base DEX required for job advance, I’ll have 31 STR and 38 DEX total after equipping these.



Closest low level gun I’ll be able to equip would be The Negotiator.



All the scrolls I’ve collected over the years finally put to good use. I’ll try passing a 10%, then 70%/60% the rest.





Also did some shopping to see if I can find some cheap Maple Guns so I can switch to a DEX bathrobe later on, and Gun ATT 30% scrolls ranging from 500k to 1mil meso. I had a clean 38 WA Maple Gun from the last event, along with the 42 WA Maple Storm Pistol I’ve bought at 500k meso.



Quite satisfied with the results.

Unfortunately, I’ve sold all my Canon Shooters, and they are pricey and scarce at the moment. I’ll see if a nicely scrolled one pops out in the FM while I casually grind in the future.

Definitely not. I’m not some mindless int-adding NPC.

 

What?! Then why am I even playing this niao.

But I’ll give her a chance until the NX expires. I think she looks really cool and I’m proud of it.

 

Actually quite eager to try out pew pew today. Played around 2 hours.



We counting to 2, a good start.



Now we counting up to 4..., well it's just the first level of double shot and I'm selectively choosing only the low damage to show.

Anyway, the firing rate is pretty decent and is able to jump shoot as well.
They are actually quite intuitive to me and got used the hit range, angles and manoeuvres almost instantly.



First gacha! Time to unleash my "new player luck" for some yellow line.







Yeah, at least it's yellow.



Did the job training quests which ended with killing 10 green mushrooms and brought me very close to lv15.



Grinded a couple more pigs and proceeded to NLC for the quiz exp to lv17.



Decided to grind until lv20 in the pig dungeon, where I'm able to snipe with ease.

The spawns are really good here.







One of the piggies dropped a pistol 3wa higher than what I was using given by the job instructor.



Still have plenty of gun att 60% scrolls so decided to use them.



Passed 4/7, still a decent upgrade from 11wa to 22wa.

Time to see if the new gun improves my EPM.

Meh, almost the same.



Grinded from lv17 to lv20 in an hour so.

Equipped all the gears I had prepared and the attack range went up more than double.



Damage went from hitting a maximum of 50 to more than 130, 1-hitting ribbon pigs at about 75% of the time.



Tested the new range and EPM went from 54k/hr to 78k/hr, an increase of nearly 45%.



Also needed pots to match my current hp/mp pool and I happen to buy plenty of these cakes during the Anniversary Event, from a player's store at 300 meso each.



In addition to the grinds, managed to complete both pigs' card sets.

So far I'd rate my experience with pewpew 4 out of 5, despite the handicap from adding INT.

 

Got back some meso from the sale of 37wa gun. Currently I'm using 39wa.



Also best I could make is a 19 dex bathrobe, still quite decent.

Tried sniping some Genins from lv20.
The platforms are all over the place but there are plenty of sniping spots.







Damage with Echo, MW20, Coke Pill. Average about 3-4 hits to kill.





Also prepared more dex equips, a scrolled 8 dex from a clean ragged cape, the other 4 dex face from one of Coorie's budget hunts.





Highest recorded EPH at lv25. Varies from 160k to 260k, usually round 210k.

I'll probably grind Genins all the way till lv30 so I don't have to switch locations.
At lv29 I should be able to level up within 25min.

I'm still considering if I want to invest 300 int instead of the planned 190 int.
I will decide again once I switched to Maple Gun and see how the grind goes.

The new gun looks sick. Enemy goes poof.

These are the only 2 gun/rifle I could find in the cash shop. Not sure if I missed out any other.





About 90min of grind with my Bishop to lv30.
