You don't have to wait 4 days to get enough ap reset to level and use fresh AP. You can always just level and stock up on the new APs to use when you have the resets to reset it. TBH, you can always just add it to HP first and wash out later. "Fresh AP" only refers to the AP you gain on leveling and not the 1 AP you get from AP resets.

TLDR, you can add into hp first provided that at the end you have the mp to wash out later.

    Lol
But then that requires you to play a mage or leech because you wont even have enough att/accuracy to kill anything. basically implying every 4 days you can put 5 ap into your stat point. BUT adding it to HP first and washing out later is an idea i never even thought about. im so dumb! Thanks a lot!

I'm not totally sure on the accuracy formulas, but all I can say is that NLs require tons of funding even if washing isn't involved. If you're a totally new char, adding base 60 int should be a sufficient for washings in the future. Regarding the lack of damage, unfortunately all I can say is to get better gears or bear with it for now. As your level gets higher, the difference in the amount of stats added into int gets smaller and your damage will rise to manageable levels.

Even back in old maple, sins tend to be strong only when they're funded. Fortunately with the anniversary event going on right now, it's much easier to earn the first few couple of mil to buy some cheap gears. If you're lucky, you can also get the maple claws, saving you a couple of mil too. Steelies are about 100k-ish

NLs are just hard to play as a first char as their gears are overly expensive. I'm no expert on NLs though so I'll defer to someone else if any to explain more

    1. 1. You honestly don't have to, it has and always be a luxury. (Getting to bare minimum to survive HT can be done with 4 base int and 1-2 items of INT). Also having a few base INT 20-30 will not make or break the enjoyment of the character.
    2. If you're looking for a new server, most Pre-BB servers will still have the same HP washing mechanics as any other server.
    3. I've found it silly before that old players ask for compensation like that, though I do see why they are in disagreement to that.
    4. To wash most characters to "HT req", it takes about 3 months given you reach that amount at 150 which most players take a longer while to even reach this level. You do not need a mage to be able to play (again a luxury), nor do you need godly INT gear (again another luxury). To even add AP resets as an event item, I personally believe is amazing already.
    5. Holding onto AP is not a big deal, you can even blood the points (add them without washing them out) while you wait for more NX. It does not restrict you from leveling.
    6. Even if things are changed and HP washing is made easier, what's going to happen is simply this = "People will simply aim for a higher HP goal". What I mean by this is that they expect to hit 10k HP within a year, when suddenly AP resets are decreased in price by 50%. The player simply won't just be like "Oh I can finish washing in 6 months", but rather be "Let me continue washing for a year and aim for say 16k HP".
I personally thing HP washing is fine the way it is, (though I don't like the odd 100 NX at the end).
HP washing is only hard if you set your goal extremely high (10k, 20k, 30k etc), which is your own doing.

    1. Youre right about this. but lets talk reality. With 4 base int, and say your lucky enough to get a z helm and a pendent. = 15+5+5 = 24 total. Using chews hp wash calculator, washing 40 times at level 200 will net you 5.563k hp. still not enough.
Lets try with this again with 20 base int and the same two items. Level 182 to get 5.6k hp 98 total hp washes = 71 days. not really a luxury, more of a must. though lenient.

Yes, sure, lets say it is a luxury. But having to reach level 182 to horntail is pretty unrealistic. Again, i can say potions are a luxury. You can always just afk for a few hours to regen. but is that realistic?

    2. Youre right about this. But the system and how it works is TOTALLY different than legends. Royals for example, but what makes it different than legends? its trade-able, SUPER. easy to get. you're not restricted by time, you have the ability to farm for them, nx gain is higher.

    3. Youre right about this. Yeah, i can definitely see why old players would want something for their hard work, but what are you going to do? :/

4.Youre right about this. Ap resets in events are amazing they do help a lot. around 3 months to hit level 150. lets make it four months. A staggering 600k nx in that time period should be enough to hp wash.

    5. Youre right about this. It does not restrict you from leveling. if you dont have enough accuracy to hit anything at level 120 you can always simply turn to quests or train at green snails and slimes.

    6. Youre right about this as well! when we play a game, we always want to strive for the best, we're always hungry for more. we're greedy creatures, Thats why there're casinos and gambling, we want more money. we're greedy. and its never going to change.

Honestly, as a new player I just want to be worried about making money, and training. Playing a class that i WANT to play. Not trying to worry about hp washing, and not being able to experience fully what maple legends has to offer.

    Rasen said it best.

"Good luck getting a solution, since many have already been written and 1 half doesn't want it and the other does.
Cause not everyone is gonna agree on 1 thing.
Especially with HP washing which is such a stupid mechanic which shouldn't be in the game in the first place."

which of course is an OPINION. Everything i have said is also my OPINION. Just shedding light to what a newbies thoughts are on this.

What about a solution involving defense or player level? For example if I’m 1 level over a monster level maybe it’s a 1% damage reduction. This helps alleviate the need to hp wash while rewarding playing the game and leveling up.

I like that HP washing adds another way to improve your character... my problem is with int leveling.

Watching players reach 100+ without int leveling, and realizing they should start over is absolutely heart wrenching.
And it's not like we can expect them all to know better, the server is full of mixed opinions on HP washing. This wasn't a common thing in GMS, why is it a common thing here? To give players *something* to spend NX on instead of defalting the Gach system?
I completely understand that, but we could maintain the necessity of HP washing without involving the possibility of an inexperienced Legendite wasting months of their life to build a character that can't do what they want it to do.

You can't replace time, it's the most valuable thing, period.

No, it wasn't a common thing in GMS because it cost real money for you to buy NX and do it. Hence unless you wanted to invest hundreds of dollars into a character in a video game, you probably would not wash. Here, NX comes free of monetary charge, it only costs you voting time.

The fact that you can do it here is actually a GOOD thing in your character's favor, counterintuitive as that might seem. Without the option to do so, your character would only be able to survive HT at level 18x and you wouldn't be able to do a single thing about it.

I agree a lot with what HyoonHyoon and xadraxadra said.

Also the main reason why people always say "go play a mage" is because its the most efficient way to get mesos and levels, because mages outclass everyone at grinding even the leechers get more exp than simply grinding themselves. It's really a v62 thing, they got nerfed later shortly before BigBang happened where cooldowns were added to mage ultimates.

Playing your NL with 60 base int is not a hindrance at all, or the way you expect it. Sure you'll do less damage but you can get 60 base int before lvl30, so by lvl155 you'll have enough MP to wash for HT while playing your character (since your damage wont be affected by a lot). There are a few players who lvled with base INT and didnt own mages and reached to super high levels.

Everything's possible if you're willing to do it, a lot of topics complain about washing and to ease the struggle, resets are obtainable during events to help out (they shouldn't be seen as a core method to obtain resets imo). The game is more effort rewarding than it was in 2015/16.

Did you only read that one sentence out of my post? Cause the other 90% of it was about time, not money.
Thousands of players from 2006 GMS come here looking for something similar, and without knowledge that they will need to play differently, and it ends badly for them.

Wat. I'm responding to your (rhetorical) question of why it wasn't done in GMS, but it's done here.

Wtf bruh idk what 2006 gms you played but in gms horntail was not out till 2008 (zakum was only released in may 2006 for example), so people would definitely not be washing. In fact, back then the only way to wash was to take your parents' money and buy tons of NX- so I'm betting my ass here that none of you washed in GMS. So if you're really, as you're saying, "looking for something similar", then dont wash. You didnt do it in the original MS and so your nostalgic trip in legends does not need to involve it either.

I really hate to say this but everytime one of these threads comes up (I'm a newer player and i've seen like 6 already?), it all boils down to you guys wanting an EASY way to experience horntail bossing with the best classes and refuse to pay the price that is already standard within the server.

There is no NEED to play differently- only if you want to horntail at level 155 with a ranged attacker because no other content in the game necessitates that you wash. If this was ordinary GMS, you either fork out hundreds of dollars or suck it up and grind yourself to level 180. Washing is an OPTION that allows you to do the boss earlier and is not forced upon "thousands of new players".

You can wash a NL while playing it the usual "slow and fun" way. All you need is either int gear or some base int or a combination of both.
A lot of the OG players did this, played NL from the beginning while having 40-60ish int base and using some shitty int gear.
You wont have a billion hp but you'll be able to play just fine.
The only reason people assume that you need a mage is because uts more efficient and lots of gamers like efficiency in their gameplay especially if they are competitive. You do NOT need to make a mage (especially not a level 200 one dafuq), its all up to personal choice.
People to stop pushing the idea that you neet to make a mage to make an attacker, its more common but not the only option.

Let me put this in another perspective. What did YOU sign up for when you joined MapleLegends? If you were well and truly aiming for final end game content from the get go, you would have done research on guides and what not. Everyone thinks that they'll be able to continue to the stage where they are able to boss but as a matter of fact, literally less than 1% of the whole community is >= level 155.

Out of a total of ~68,000 players, there are only 608 characters who are >=155. Even discounting the mules, and including characters who are nearing the stage of HT, only a maximum of 2% of the whole server is able to boss (HT) and is prepared for it.

People often worry about hp washing to the stage where they can reach HT. Fact of the matter is that most of them may not even be able to reach that stage. If you think that getting to 4th job was hard, levels from 120 and above is even worse. At level 154, it took me about 8 hours of skeles 1 hit to leech my corsair to 155.

Instead of fretting over the hp washing needed to be done, enjoy the game as it is. MapleLegends is never purely about bossing. If I was truly focusing on the end game of HT, I would have never reached that stage. What kept me going was the community and the social aspect of it. I enjoyed talking to everyone (well mostly) and I really do not want to see new players being so hard up on washing for HT.

To people who have to restart their chars just because of being unable to hp wash enough, are you really unable to? Most people would have find out about HP washing by level 70. By then, there's still sufficient time to add some int, reset some stats into int, borrow int eqps and hit the very very bare minimum for HT by 155 or 160. It is never impossible (unless you're > 120 or 130). even at 130, you can always choose to blood wash. You'll still have higher damage than most attackers with equal gear since they have not fully washed out their stats yet. Yes ultimately, you'll have a lower dps compared to them but that will only be in 1 year time?

I have 180 int on my sair, 20+ points in hp, which means that I'm lacking 200 AP compared to another player on the same level. Even if that player blood washes 100 ap which makes it more sufficient to HT, he'll still have 100 AP advantage over me.

Since the meme is still going on that 'HP washing wasn't a thing in GMS' here's a very nice written guide made in 09.2008 which is even before v0.62: Click here

    Not existing =/= less awareness

MapleStory is now 10 years older, and the awareness of HP washing increases, so do the knowledge. Back in 2008 HP washing was first discovered, and thus the information didn't spread as much. Just wanted puke this out finally because I am bit tired of people saying HP washing wasn't a thing in 2008. It completely was, just not everyone paid for it, or were aware of it. That's their problem.

So was it a requirement to pay Neckson hundreds of USD to play the game? No. So don't have that mindset either in a Private Server.

People don't talk about HP Washing as non-existent because people didn't know about it - Gavin (Tiger) found out it worked sometime around 2007-2008. People say it didn't exist because like xadra pointed out, most people couldn't afford it.

Edit: And the people who would have cared back then, definitely knew about it because anyone who wants to be really invested in anything always studies their field as best as they can or learn and adapt. I know some people who washed, but I know a lot more who didn't.

Yes KimberlyKimberly this is what I mean. I'm well aware that it exists- and obviously it starts around 2008 given that HT was released in january of that year. Especially in MapleSEA where I come from- on average the SEA countries were a lot less well-to-do than USA/canada/european countries that played gms, with a much worse currency. You'd be seriously hard pressed to find people who washed in SEA.

Also if we wanted to make the newbies understand why washing is actually a good thing in their favor, maybe imagine if legends had completely NO hp washing- like say AP resetting your MP into HP does not work. Now you cant/dont need to wash anymore! You also have no choice but to wait till level 180 to do HT. Maybe provide the option of paying $400 to "instantly" get 5.5k hp. That would be legitimately "GMS-like".

My point either is that it wasn't existing. My point is that if people could deal with it in GMS they should be able to deal with it here, especially when the accessible is free instead of payment. The issue lately which happens in all Pre Big Bang Private Servers is that new users get way too exhausted with information about washing. A member comes back after countless years of playing last time and first thing they get is people puking information about washing all over place.

Some people even saying the game is unplayable if you do not wash even though thats far from true, and some saying you need wash months to do horntail, even though its actually you need months to wash to survive horntail WITHOUT HYPER BODY.

Toad is true that you need to wash for some jobs to survive, but if you look at videos from JMS the ranged jobs were never intended to participate in Toad, same how Warriors can't participate in The Boss. Washing is just something that can potentially bypass it.

Some people are way too over-concerned about washing than they should be. 9/10 of people never reach Horntail level but still quit because they are way too afraid of washing, which is stupid. This is also partly because some users provide inaccurate information generally about washing. The intention probably is to try get the user the best out of his/her character, but sometimes the info is just too much. MapleStory is supposed to be a simple game.

Yeap to add on to what Hiyo said, adding some int is not a problem at all. Im currently playing a bowman which i added 100+ int to. U might think its nuts how im gonna level, but this is where Party Quest comes in. I started HPQ, LPQ and EPQ with very less damage obviously. But people are still willing to party my hunter despite its low damage. This is not leeching btw as i contributed to what i can do (GMS and Clearing Portals). People don't really mind if u can't do any damage thr. If u haven't realized what i mean by now, it means doing the non-atking part to the best of ur abilities. Therefore, u can go ahead and add points into hp until u can wash them out and not worry too much about your damage.

(This is just a suggestion to u) I personally saved up around 60 reset before i started playing so pls don't pick on me for that, but i understand what it feels to have no NX because im leveling faster than the NX can stock up. But if u were to "wait 4 day", what u can do is to make a mage in the meantime to fund ur NL or whatever. This is gonna take a lot of effort as u are playing two accounts but trust me its worth it. You can fund ur NL so much easier. Do this if u are really want the best for urself (MY OPINION). I can't say much more abt this as i started a bishop before hand but when u have a high level mage, it definitely makes things easier. Im not saying i enjoy playing a mage 24hrs all day but during off times ("Wait 4 days") you can sell leech and get btr gear for ur NL.
