    But tell me, what exactly do you mean by this whole thread being pointless? As in, it won't actually accomplish anything? Well yessir, you are right about that. We can talk about this until the sun burns out, and I don't think anything will be done about it.

    Here's a better question: does that matter?

    You are working on the assumptions that there is no such thing as unintended consequences, that game designers have full omniscience to their designs, and that perfection is attainable. Given that the designers have regularly changed this game indicates to me a pursuit of perfection and thereby definition the game is not perfect. If the game is not perfect, then the game designers either willfully chose to settle on an imperfect game being fully aware of their unintended consequences or the designers didn't see the flaws in their designs. While it is always the case that designers have to put out their product, flaws and all, by certain deadlines, this does not mean that the game is perfect by any means. Given that human beings are not omniscient, the possibility that an unintended consequence existing is far more believable than believing the designers would willfully put in a lot of work in creating a bunch of equips that players were never intended to use. You're also assuming you speak for the game designers, and that requires evidence that you have authorization to speak on their behalf. Are you currently in touch with their lead designers? I would love to converse with them on this matter. And while you are correct that my argument is based on my opinions, the fact that my argument is based on my opinions does not negate the argument.

    There also seems to be a riding assumption that playing v.62 negates the possibility of directing the game in a new direction - a direction Neckson never took. What prevents the GMs from going on their own and developing the game the way they see fit? Why must we sacrifice any creativity for the sake of "nostalgia?"

    I feel it necessary to point out one other pertinent fact. This is NOT a v.62 server. It has a .62 engine, but the server is actually a hodgepodge of different versions. Magatia is operating on Legends, which is a .63 feature. Temple of Time is also operating, which is a .72 feature. Given that Lionheart said...

    It should be noted that Neckson did change the Elemental Wands in version .73, just after Temple of Time was released, it stands to reason the Legends Admins could make this alteration, too.

    By default you accepted the unintended consequences of the v62 characters and skills as developed for v62 when you signed up to play on this server, which was advertised exactly as such by the GM's as being nostalgic. Keeping it the way it is is exactly what it means to be nostalgic.

    Did GM's make decisions to implement content from other versions? Sure. They certainly didn't need to and we certainly didn't need it.

    Magatia is unnecessary for this server. Temple is also unnecessary for this server.

    I see you decided to evade the questions I raised. If you are not willing to engage these points and consider the hypothetical of the GMs pushing the game in a new direction, then you are essentially saying that you're not interested in this conversation - or, at the very least, trying a passive-aggressive approach to wanting the GMs to not make any more changes. Either way, it is markedly curious why you are even bothering to reply to something you care nothing about. Furthermore, my point still stands - you are continuing to speak on behalf of the GMs, but I see no evidence that you are in some advisory role with them. If you are not in such a position, you cannot expect anyone to believe the claims you make about the GMs intentions. Perhaps if you gave some rationale as to why we shouldn't tinker with anything else beyond the argument about nostalgia [which is an Appeal to Tradition Fallacy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_tradition)], then we might be able to better understand your concerns.

    I completely disagree. Saying "it's v62, this is how things were, you know what to expect!" is a poor argument. It really leaves no room for improvement whatsoever.

    If it's a popular discussion then maybe it's worth looking into? just a thought

    Just my opinion yeah but I think we're too far along for a wipe. But I do think HS / leeching does need some kind of a nerf considering Bishops are mandatory in every pre big bang private server.

    I'm not saying that it's not worth looking into, personally I disagree with nerfing bishops in any way, but to each their own. What I'm saying however is that this discussion has happened dozens of times in this forum already and nothing has changed.

    So what I meant by "Pointless" is that if nothing has changed by now, NOTHING will change ever. Also, bishops are NOT in any way required to play this server, you can be competitive, have good gear, wash and get to high level without one, it just takes more effort to do so (unless you really do hate the bishop class, then making one and leeching yourself and others is actually a pain in the ass). There are a several examples of this type of player in the server.
    You can either make a bishop and make things easier for yourself (or even just be a bishop because you like it), or you can just stick with your chosen job and do it the harder way. Either choice is up to you and you alone, at this point the argument that people want to be competitive for the rankings does not apply anymore, so if you want to make a bishop or not does not impact anyone but yourself, people need to get over this.
    Bishops getting nerfed helps nobody.

    Edit: Just my take on this, this is not an issue imo, and even if it were, there are quite a few things (alot actually) that should take priority over this.

    But you never know. "If x hasn't happened by now, it never will" isn't valid. I'm sure APQ and MPQ will be coming. And other content not even discussed here yet.

    Also, on the off chance that Kimberly and the others wind up making a new server with mechanics that drastically deviate from vanilla, this thread might be a big influence. Or maybe even to any other players here who might dream of starting up their own server.

    So the whole discussion is not pointless if we're looking at it from another way besides a revolutionary change on the current game server that's been up for like 2 years.

    Oh I read your post more carefully and saw this.

    Yes, the new server hype has been long gone. The wave of players we had from that era probably peaked around when we had 200+ players...

    So yeah, for the most part the competition element is gone, but not completely. We still have other individuals: friends, guildmates, rivals who are trying to compete with each other... or in some cases, catch up. At this point, the argument isn't so much that mult-clienting a bishop is an "unfair" advantage, but it's still an advantage. What happens when your "friend" gets a duo-hs party, and you're just a third wheel? Well, either you do the same, or you fall behind.

    Many players still want to level up quickly, blazing past all that "nostalgia" and they want to get to the "fun" part of the game. And competition isn't even part of that. The best way to do so is in a duo party with HS. But sadly, many take it upon themselves to just make another account for a HS mule and/or self-leech.

    HS mules in themselves are detrimental because they crowd out other players that actually want to main a cleric/priest as a support class. Because the way HS currently works, a party of two is by far the most optimal. The "real" priests might not find a party because if someone can already give them HS with a mule, the priest mainer is not desirable, as their contribution is less.

    And what about the self-leech? That is even worse. To say nerfing bishops helps nobody... when all this practice has ever done has hurt the server and the community. You spend hours upon hours leveling your cleric/priest/bishop by yourself. You leech yourself with HS, and you don't want to party anyone else because it's less efficient. All this time, you spend isolating yourself from others and crowding out other players from maps you could all be sharing. You reject other players, and they get isolated. And in loneliness comes boredom, and with boredom, you quit.

    I mean, I'm not even so sure I'd say I want a nerf to bishop, but what I am absolutely adamant about is rebalancing HS so it's not so OP with a party of two. The exp bonus needs to increase more gradually at first, but with 5-6 players in the group, even exceeding the current exp bonus would be awesome. IMO, it is far better to have OP experience with a full party of 6 rather than at a party of 2.

    This is in my opinion the best option (also the most voted one by far).

    There's a reason why most people agree that one of the better area's from post- big bang is Lionheart Castle. Sure, the party exp system wasn't perfect, but it made training alot of fun being able to get more exp and play with a full party of 6. Changing HS to resemble that would be a great addition.
    It would also encourage people to make use of the higher level area's such as ToT to train, instead of skele's always being the best option for 100+ levels for most jobs.

    It also reduces the effect of leech, since partying with more then 2 is encouraged. One problem that might arise is that one bishop parties with 5 afk members, but im pretty sure there's a system that prevents this from being very effective (reduce leech exp, buff kill exp).

    Will bishops still be an overpowered class after this change? Maybe. But a party will probably only want 1 bishop, which means the rest should be filled with other jobs, instead of the current 50% bishop / 50% other class. Also, a support class being a tad overpowered isn't the worst thing in the world.
    Instead of throwing more nerfs at bishops I'd say its better to buff other classes instead.

    Of course you can still be successful without a Bishop, but you'd still be at a disadvantage if you don't have one and sooner or later you'll give up and get yourself one. As for "nothing will change ever" it seems like Kimberly does think there's slight issue with leeching so perhaps this is something that can be looked into in the future? would be nice to get an up to date official answer. I don't know, but as of now I'd agree Bishops are slightly problematic and aren't that healthy to the game.
