Information Anniversary 2023 Balance Changes [Explained]

    hi could we have data in a format that doesn't keep changing from past balance changes?

    also sanity check: that total meso supply number probably includes so many dead accounts that it depresses your meso growth rate number. try something like weekly or monthly active accounts. not sure how that minuscule growth rate is indicative for inflation

    I think they were more questioning why just a lv35 maple dagger if the reasoning is because "there is a lv35 for every weapon type" when there also isn't a lv35 spear, polearm, 1hand axe, 2 hand axe, 1 hand bw, 2 hand bw, 2 hand sword or wand.

    I think it would have been better to say they are adding a dagger for the specific purpose of being able to upgrade to lv43 and so on.

    We're trying to find a format that we can adopt for the long run. I think we've gotten it down for the bossing analysis, but since we received feedback about how the previous economy breakdown was a bit lackluster in terms of data points, we tried our best to expand on it.

    As for the meso growth rate number, we have been collecting the same type of data for what we call "active" accounts, as we wanted to observe just the mesos in circulation (or have the potential to enter circulation - aka dead accounts shouldn't be considered). However, I personally found it to be an even faultier indicator. The number fluctuates way too much, caused by people not logging into mules for a while. Then one day when they do log in, mesos appear out of blue. Now consider that same scenario in a server-wide situation, then we just have too much meso gain & loss without being able to precisely indicate anything about the economy.

    That said a bulk of the mesos on our server is generated by those that have been active from 2022 January onwards. The total sum of mesos owned by players that have logged in since 2022 Jan is around 2.285 Trillion (compare it with the 3.226 Trillion that we see from "all time").

    I do appreciate your input on this, since I think it is a worthwhile discussion on figuring out how to best shift shift through this type of data! Since I was actually quite curious if anyone else had any ideas for improving the data section ^^

    Mages' gotta have higher HP than 3400 for this HP challenge to be worth it. With 0 hp washing, mages will receive ~2450 hp at level 200. With the current state of the HP challenge, you will receive around ~3560 at level 200, which is effectively an extra 5500 hp with magic guard. Every class out there has received higher hp values and hp percentages from this challenge.

    I'd love to know the exact reasoning, but from my perspective, it seems most likely it was done due to Maple Claw having an insane price in the market compared to Maple Sword.

    That should be ok especially if you can adjust it into something like mesos per user (not account). Take 2020 for example, the amount of mesos circulating went up but prices went down because those mesos are spread among more people. Would be nice to keep track of the new players too

    "Pass any 100% scrolls" In this case I think it would be beneficial to have this challenge be to pass any % scroll. 100%'s have no benefit, nobody uses them and they cost very little meso. This challenge would take 1 millisecond to complete with no benefit to the player. Can I suggest that the challenge be to pass any scroll we'd like (10x) ? Or we could go even as far to make require the player to pass a scroll on 1 Helmet, 1 Overall, 1 Weapon, 1 Face Accessory etc, something more engaging and actually helpful, pushing players to make different gears instead of just throwing the cheapest scrolls on the cheapest equips.

    I was expecting to be underwhelmed since PastaPasta mentioned content and event patches would be separated. Surprised to see a decent number of changes on here despite that, many of them overwhelmingly positive. Not really much to complain about here, although I will agree with others that washing as a Warrior to 30k is still amusingly less effort than killing 7000 mobs in deep Ludi, and I still think Mage and Shad values are low enough that the only people who are going to do the challenges are the players who already made their characters and can no longer wash.

    The % change in daily boss entries amuses me a lot, especially the values for single digit runs “increasing” across the board.

    Akash's numbers are converted to meso form so mobs didn't directly drop him 55m/h. A lot of his farming EV comes from recirculated mesos (not NPC+mesos looted) adn I don't think he uses a sweeper.

    btw not too sure how it corresponds to opportunity cost if he's doing what is most efficient for himself
