C++'s Scroll Price Guide (AVG,STDDEV,MIN,MAX)

    Price guide closed by Administration due to no longer being updated. Everyone is free however to start a new one by themselves.

    Nice work. May I ask why you don't check ch2, since it's full to max capacity as well? Also would you consider using google doc so we can sort columns?

    I don't check CH2 because it takes anywhere between 7-10 hours to completely check CH1. I simply don't have enough time to check CH2.
    As for using Google Docs, I'll consider it. Let me play around with it for a bit. For now, the columns are sorted in alphabetical order.

    I dont think sticky will make it 'official'. it will remain unofficial.
    But we know this is probably the most used guide. People log on forums just to see this topic. Might as well be stickied on the front page of legends website.
    Not for 'official-ness', but because of popularity, for accessibility.

    One interesting thing about your model is that today's prices have a lower impact on the "average" than the previous days combined. So for example, say the price of a certain scroll skyrocketed (fairly rare, but possible), your model wouldn't capture the new "higher" price until a few days have passed. Though, I suppose the "min" and "Max" of the day do somewhat alleviate this problem.

    Do assign equal weighting to prices of all days? I think that the more current prices should be given higher weighting, but that's for you to decide.

    I have considered this issue before, and it is the very reason why I decided to include MIN and MAX.

    In the rare case that a scroll skyrockets or drops significantly in value, I'll restart the data collection for that scroll from scratch. But this will be extremely rare, and will most likely only happen if significant changes are made to the RNG, many more new players join, or many people stop playing.

    I currently assign equal weighting to all days. A multi-weight system has the property of being able to capture significant changes quickly, but the current data shows pretty stable prices. In the event that many scrolls start to deviate significantly from the average, I'll implement the multi-weight system.

    I considered it initially, but eventually came to the conclusion not to.

    Reasons:
    • For scrolls that cost less than 1M, it would either have to be "0.xxxM" or "xxxK".
      "0.xxxM" is a bit ugly to look at, and having "xxxK" scrolls next to "x.xxxM" scrolls would remove consistency from the guide. Consistency is important in ensuring mistakes aren't made when reading the guide.
    • Making scrolls "x.xxxM" would add a decimal point to the numbers, making each column wider than it needs to be, which may potentially push the 70% chart down to the row with the 100% and etc charts (at least when reading the guide on a monitor and not a phone).
    • If anyone has any initial confusion when reading the guide, the likelihood of them resolving the confusion on their own seems fairly high.
    However, if enough people want the guide to be written with 1M in place of 1000K, I'll happily change it. Just click "Agree" on viidafreakviidafreak's post.
