[Game] Mafia / Town of Salem

Minor changes:

• The roleblocker's names have been replaced by escort (Town) and consort (Mafia).
• The reporter's name has been replaced by consigliere.
• The goon's name has been replaced by mafioso.
  • To add to that, the consigliere gains a bonus ability: When the consigliere investigates a target twice, they get a clue that indicates what roles the target could be.
• The way Mafia kills work is changed.
  • Only the mafioso and the godfather can perform kills. If both die, the consigliere or the consort turn into a mafioso, losing their previous role.
• I've added an introduction phase. This happens before the first night and allows people to talk freely and introduce themselves to the town. See this as Day 1, basically. It lasts 12 hours.

Night 1 (written by myself)

Autoassemble went about his daily tasks and chores as usual, not suspecting any kind of danger or trouble. He had heard the rumours of a few rogue Mafiosi finding their way into town, but since rumours, conspiracies and wild guesswork was such an everyday thing around here, he didn’t make much of it.

As the night fell, Autoassemble was heading home, ready to draw a bath for himself and relax and finally head to bed. He arrived at his place, threw aside his stuff and headed upstairs. He couldn’t be bothered with the news of the day, all he wanted was some peace and quiet after a stressful day. So stressful, in fact, that he was a bit light-headed and distracted, unaware of the hidden figure in his house, waiting for him to be thrown off-guard.

He stepped into the hot, soothing water and closed his eyes as he laid down. Completely vulnerable, or so they thought, the hidden figure started moving silently, preparing for the fatal blow they were sent to deliver to Autoassemble.

They had not gone unseen, though. He was sent to protect and observe Autoassemble, aware that having to face these culprits was a possibility. He had been a bodyguard for decades and this wasn’t a first; he had abandoned the feeling of fear and being intimidated ages ago.

As fast as he could, the bodyguard entered the door of Autoassemble’s house with the spare key in the bushes in front of his house. He sprinted upstairs and stormed into the bathroom, ready to protect Autoassemble. He was shocked and shouted at the bodyguard what the hell he was doing in his house, but was interrupted as the bodyguard looked at him and demanded that he would leave the room ASAP, pointing at the cabinet. At that point, the cabinet door smashed open and someone jumped out with a knife in his hand.

The bodyguard didn’t hesitate for even a second and tackled the Mafioso. “What are you waiting for you idiot? LEAVE! RUN!”, he shouted at Autoassemble, who was staring at the scene blankly from the bathtub. He then, however, snapped to his senses and jumped up to run out at full speed as he grabbed a few pieces of clothing off the messy floor, leaving the bodyguard behind.

The fight was tense as both of them were strong, but at last, the Mafioso got one free hand. He grabbed the knife off the floor and the hand that was trying to strangle him loosened as he pierced the bodyguard with the knife. The Mafioso jumped off him and ran out the door, escaping and leaving the bodyguard there to bleed to death.

Autoassemble, however, was ahead of the Mafioso’s plan. A friend of his was a doctor and emergency helper, and Autoassemble had quickly called him up, telling him to get over here instantly.

Candy was used to such circumstances and within minutes, he arrived at the scene. He took one glance at the wounded bodyguard and performed his magic on him. An hour later, the bodyguard was able to walk out the door again, waving away Autoassemble’s thanks and questions before disappearing into darkness.

Another job well done, Candy made his way back home feeling satisfied. The smug, confident look was still on his face as he fell down into the grass, collapsing from the bullet that had just entered the side of his head, dead. Somewhere in the shadows, a violent, blood-thirsty person smiled a bit before dismantling the silencer off his gun and running off, unseen.


Day 2

As the town heard of the events at Autoassemble's house last night, they quickly got together and started discussing who would do such a thing, keeping in mind that they are amongst them...

Update on Mafia!

Night 2 (written by me)

The life of a freelance bodyguard in this town is hard and unforgiving. Especially now that the rumours of Mafiosi roaming town are confirmed, he has been keeping a close eye on the people in the town square, accusing and shouting at each other, but to no point. The idea of lynching died out once people realised they had nothing to go on, saving those accused from the terror and possible death.

Darkness fell and everyone went inside, scared, except for the Mafiosi, who went out with one thing in mind: Killing fryber, a liability and danger to their secret vendettas and actions. It was like clockwork: Their precision, expertise and near enough perfection when it comes to slaughtering in the shadows. Not before long, they had broken their way into the house of fryber, preparing for finishing him off without him even knowing.

The bodyguard had a different plan in mind, though. His suspicions had led him to fryber’s house, as well, and he was there to intercept the approaching Mafiosi. Waiting by his bedroom door, the bodyguard managed to fight off the experienced Mafiosi.

Fryber had woken up from the turmoil outside his room. Once he opened the door, he instantly closed it again and quickly called for help. Knowing that the risk of police officers and others coming to help fryber and his bodyguard was approaching fast, they had no other choice but to retreat and run. But not before making sure the only one who had seen their faces was no danger to them anymore. The swiftness of the blade sliding through MMopQrs’s neck was remarkable, and before he hit the ground, the Mafiosi were gone.

Aware of the trouble on the other side of town, the serial killer took his chances and got in position for a shot on Ryan, the town’s hunter. He knew his knowledge and power were too much of an issue to deal with any longer. He approached Ryan from behind and stabbed him in his back. As Ryan turned around, he said with his last breath: “I’m taking one of you bastards with me.”

He revealed a button from underneath his jacket. Before collapsing into the murderer’s arms, he pressed it, and just seconds later, a house a few hundred metres away burst into flames. It was clear those inside were toast now. And then the murderer realised: By ‘one of you bastards’, Ryan meant the Mafiosi in town… That house belonged to NatteHond, who he knew was a Mafioso. But he didn’t want to be compared to those sloppy amateurs. He turned around and disappeared, feeling insulted but pleased with another night of solid work.


Day 3

After the night's events, it's time to return to the square and get those mafiosi.

Changes for Round 4

• The Spy will be changed.
  • From now on, the spy reads both day and night. The exception is the first day. Day 1 remains unheard.
  • The names of the mafiosi will remain censored. However, any names mentioned in chat will remain uncensored. So if a name of a mafioso is mentioned in the chat by them, it's not censored. This allows the mafiosi to play mindgames on the spy more and make the spy a riskier but higher reward role.
• The citizen will be removed. In place, the Jailor will be introduced.
  • When it's daytime, the jailor can lock someone up the next night. The locked up person can't be targeted, but can't target either.
  • The jailor works together with the officer. The officer knows the prisoner. The officer can then choose to execute the prisoner.
    • Here comes the tricky part! If the officer kills an innocent person, they are publicly revealed as officer.
