there are a lot of guides for building a luckless priest.
i started playing yesterday, and I'm level 24 now.
my mage is basically 'naked', i have been taking a lot of damages from mobs. my mage has been consuming HP potions like water.

would it be more beneficial to add luck to my mage and equip normal gears as I level?

If I go with 4int + 1 luck pattern for each level, i can wear gears on my level.

for example, Emerald Staff, req level:15, and req stats: INT 48, LUK 18,
    it adds: magic att:30.

I believe each AP adding to Int, increases 1 magic att for mage.
if I add 18 into Int, I would get + 18 magic att in return.
if I add 18 into luck, i would get + 30 magic att in return (when I wear the staff)

    thanks in advance .

Please don't do this. It will only cause yourself and those that party with you suffering.

Putting a point into LUK does the same for your damage as NOT USING THE POINT. I would suggest you just learn how to position better to get hit by monsters less to assuage your HP problem.

how about a low luck mage with luck just enough for gears.?
using Emerald Staff as an example,
if I sacrifice 18 AP points and add them to luck, i will gain 30 magic attack.

Yet, at the same time you will lose 18 potential INT. So really you are not gaining any magic attack, and in fact you are losing.

I think INT: Matk is close to 1:1 but I'm not entirely sure.

If you're having trouble affording pots, try to sell some scrolls (KPQ can give out valuable scrolls!) or posting in the beginner's charity on the forums, and they should be able to help you get some pots! [IMG]

Don't do it! as a priest, you wont need much mesos for pots once you start killing with heal. So I suggest you just do some quests (sleepywood DANGER ones are pretty good for pots), or ask for some mesos in fm (''mesos plox'') for now. Good luck!!

Just checking but have you maxed out and are using the skill Magic guard? It essentially tanks 80% of the damage you take to your MP instead of your HP.

If you arent using it then you should be, ALL THE TIME.

Not great advice. Early on MP pots cost double the price of HP pots so a new player will just drain their money faster. And later on, Clerics can heal themselves so losing more HP is no problem. For Clerics Magic Guard is only needed if you’ll get one shot without it

If you aren't using potions from New Leaf City you're losing out on much more. MP is the same price as HP. You can buy Grilled Cheese for 500 mesos, and they heal 500 HP and 500 MP, along with giving a 20 defense buff.

Honestly Grilled Cheese's defense is comparable to low level mage armor anyways.

The last event's pets say it best: Give me more cheese!

When Grilled Cheese start to take up too much inventory space use Sorcerer Elixers. 1500 mesos for 1500 MP.

When you have ~5k MP you can switch to Mana Bulls instead.

Hmm I didn't know about Grilled Cheese, that is a great pot for new players.

Of course once you're using NLC pots they all cost the same, but by that point he should have Heal and won't need HP pots for the most part anyway. So Magic Guard will just make you waste more MP
