    Introduction

Cleaning up the language to be more neutral and trying to make it less confusing (6 years later omegalul)

This guide will target those who don't have a lot of prior funding, but there could still be useful information for those who do have the money.

Two databases I have used is https://maplelegends.com/lib/ and https://bbb.hidden-street.net/

bbb.hiddenStreet isn’t purely v62 database, but the information is mostly relevant
The library has some incomplete info, but is updated for this version.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    AP Distribution

If this is your first character and you don't intend to fully optimize your stats, I recommend
    10-32: +2 DEX, +3 LUK (up to 70 DEX)
    33:53 +1 DEX, +4 LUK (Up to 90 DEX)
    53+: +5 LUK

Even without prior funding, you still need to do some planning to make your 4th job experience as smooth as possible. The amount of stats you receive from higher level equipment quickly get outscaled and kills your DPS if you continue to put points into DEX in order to wear them. With how Maplestory works, as long as your total stat meets the requirement before equipping an item, you will be able to do so.

Consider using the Free Market and buying scrolls that give your equipment DEX so that you can equip higher level Claws.

If you vote for the server, you can receive vote cash that will let you buy AP resets from the cash shop and allow you to adjust your DEX/LUK, albeit for a high price. Although this is an expensive/timely option, this will help you iron out your build as you make adjustments based on your resources.

    Skill Order

    1st Job
    10 Lucky 7 (1)
    11 Nimble Body (3)
    12-13 Keen Eyes (6)
    14 Keen Eyes (8), Lucky 7 (2)
    15-20 Lucky 7 (20)
    21 Disorder (3)
    22 Dark Sight (1), Nimble Body (5)
    23-27 Nimble Body (20)
    28-30 Dark Sight (10)

    Skills by lvl 30
    20 Lucky 7
    20 Nimble Body
    8 Keen Eyes
    3 Disorder
    10 Dark Sight

    Explanation

It's important to have the range from Keen Eyes in the early levels so that you're not in melee ranges. You don't have the raw stats to take a big advantage of the Lucky 7 damage yet and you don't want to be spending a lot of money on MP pots at this stage.

After you've maxed out Lucky 7 and Keen Eyes, the order you max skills doesn't matter, but make sure you have Dark Sight maxed out as it'll override any speed buffs you had before using it. This is important when you have Haste.

    [/SPOILER]

    2nd Job

    Order I Went With
    30 Claw Mastery (1)
    31 Claw Mastery (3), Critical Strike (1)
    32-40 Critical Strike (28)
    41 Critical Strike (30), Claw Mastery (4)
    42 Claw Mastery (5), Claw Booster (2)
    43-48 Claw Booster (20)
    49-54 Haste (18)
    55 Haste (20), Claw Mastery (6)
    56-59 Claw Mastery (18)
    60 Claw Mastery (20), Endure (1)
    61 Endure (2), Drain (1)
    62-70 Drain (28)

    Summary
    30 Critical Throw
    20 Haste
    20 Claw Booster
    20 Claw Mastery
    3 Endure
    28 Drain

    Explanation
Critical Throw is a no brainer since this is how this class deals its damage.

If you’re doing party quests, max Haste first. If you’re solo grinding, max Claw Booster first.

    Claw Mastery
doesn't affect the damage you do, only the range of your damage. Think of it as raising your minimum damage. The amount of stars you carry and the accuracy isn't important as the class naturally has a lot of it and the amount of stars only affects the amount of time you can train before needing to restock.

Drain can heal you for a shocking amount of HP and save your money on HP pots especially after you've gotten the damage boost from Critical Throw.

Depending on your priorities, you can either maw Claw Mastery or Drain first.

    Endure
is nice (?), but it's effects isn't noticeable.

    3rd Job

    Order I went With
    70 Avenger (1)
    71-80 Shadow Partner (30)
    81 Avenger (4)
    82 Avenger (6), Flash Jump (1)
    83-91 Avenger (30)
    92-97 Alchemist (18)
    98 Alchemist (20), Flash Jump (2)
    99-103 Flash Jump (19)
    104 Flash Jump (20), Meso Up (2)
    105-111 Meso Up (20)

    Summary
    30 Shadow Partner
    30 Avenger
    20 Flash Jump
    20 Alchemist
    20 Meso Up

    Explanation

Shadow Partner is going to be your first boost in damage. It's costly due to requiring Summoning Rocks and doubling your star usage, but it's critical to your DPS. I don't recommend using it until it reaches lvl 11 though because of the potential costs.

Avenger will help speed up your training or at least help draw aggro and group mobs together so that you can kite around them easier. I don't recommend using this as your primary training tool until it can hit 6 mobs at once. Alternatively, you can leave Avenger at lvl 21 in order to max Alchemist and Flash Jump first.

Alchemist saves you on pot money. It's good. Trust me. Damage comes first though.

    Flash Jump
is your mobility tool and a damn fun one at that. However, the damage, mobbing and pots are more important. You can sacrifice Avenger damage in favor of mobility if you want though.

Meso Up is nice, but nothing you need to sweat over. The other skills take priority, but this is a nice bonus to have. No one ever complains about more money per drop.

Once you have Shadow Partner, Avenger, Alchemist, Flash Jump and Meso Up maxed, it doesn't really matter where you put the rest of your points in. You can max out your 2nd job skills if you want to.

Shadow Web has little utility in relation to Hermits, but has its application at Gobys and some bosses for example.

Do not put points into Shadow Meso. It will hurt your DPS and spend more money than what the damage is worth. Ignoring "weapon def. up" and "magic guard up." seems appealing, but not many mobs do this in the first place.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Leveling

    10-15 Slimes

    16-21 Green/Horny Mushrooms

    22-26 Wild Boar

    27-30 Evil Eye

    31-35 Brown/Pink Teddy

    36-49 Lupin/Zombie Lupin, Platoon Chronos

    45-49 Master Chronos

    50-55 Straw Target Dummies (STD)

    56-64 Voodoo

    65-69 Windraider

70-93 Kid Mannequin for money, Windraider for exp.

    95-120 NightShadow, Headless Horseman
Assassins don't have any mobbing skills and Hermits only have Avenger, which is only okay. If you can find a party to train with, these spots are also good.

58 MP3/GS2 (Party with anybody who has mobbing skills, 2 party members at MP3, one partner at GS2)
    75 - Wolf Spiders
    89 - Galloperas
    94 - Spirit Vikings
95 - Dreamy Ghost (Party with Priest and/or Chief Bandit)
    100 - Giant Spirit Viking

    Notes
This is where it all begins. Don't fret over the small details of what equips, stars, pots, and etc to have.

I recommend doing KPQ 20 (lvl 21-30) times for Squishy Shoes since it gives extra stat boosts.

Here are some guides to help you get to lvl 30 quickly.
    https://forum.maplelegends.com/inde...precise-levelling-for-new-chars-lvl-35.17122/
    https://forum.maplelegends.com/index.php?threads/slimes-comprehensive-permanent-beginner-guide.9513/

For LPQ, Assassins are a complete necessity to complete stage 5 and kill the some of the mobs on Stage 7 (an Archer can also do this). Because of this, you’ll be high demand for a party. It’s good XP if you can complete it within 20min and there are some good drops as well. You can also get Broken Glasses after completing it 35 times. It’s an eye accessory that'll give another extra boost in stats.

Because you only have Avenger as a mobbing skill, your options are pretty limited. This is when you should really look for people to party up with.

I list Windraiders and Nightshadows for so many levels because turning in the Windraider and Nightshadow badges in the Crimsonwood Exchange quest will give you items that will help you out (Claw for ATK 60, Black Mamba, Raven's Claw (upgradable), Taos to create Balanced Fury, an end game star) while also being a decent exp.

For those OG players, you’ll remember Wolf Spider, Risell Squid, Death Teddy, and Jr. Newties. I didn't list them because in my opinion, they're awkward to solo grind due to one or many factors. However, they do have valuable drops so I thought it would be good to mention.

    Quests

This is just a list of quests I recommend doing to make things easier for you down the line.

    30 - "Bartol's Request"
This lets you warp from Nautilus Harbor to Omega Sector instantly. It saves a lot of time when travelling.

    30 - "Collecting Huckle's Magic Ingredients"
The quest reward lets you skip traversing the entire tower. You can do this every 24 hours.

    30 - "Disgruntled Roly-Poly Worker"/"The Lost Guard"
This lets you traverse Eos tower quickly. You can also do this every 24 hours.

50 - "Subani's Legacy" and "Lost!" Quest line

Phantom Forest and Crimsonwood Keep are gonna be essential for your gear and training. These quests lets you traverse the place much more quickly and safely. Highly recommend

    https://forum.maplelegends.com/index.php?threads/guide-crimsonwood-exchange-pre-quests.41199/

    50 - Zakum Pre-Req
Pre-quests to probably do your first major boss.

    https://forum.maplelegends.com/index.php?threads/zakum-prequest-guide.2738/

80 - "In Search of the Book of Ancient" and "Alcaster and the Dark Crystal"
You'll be able to buy the Summoning Rocks needed for Shadow Partner from Alcaster after completing this questline. You can technically start the questline at lvl 55. It's more difficult if you do though so I recommend completing it once you have a decent amount of points into Shadow Partner

80 - Bounty Hunter Questline (Start with "Fool's Gold")
Completing the last quest gives you a Silver Deputy Star, which will boost your stats a decent amount. However killing Headless Horseman and Bigfoot is not viable at your level so you'll need to ask someone to hunt them down for you. Their drops are also untradeable and the 2 bosses take forever to spawn once they are killed so completing this quest isn't easy. However, that Silver Deputy Star is an important piece of equipment to obtain.

90 - Papulatus Pre-Reqs (Starts with "Protect Ludibrium") and Scarlion Pre-Reqs (Starts with "Away from Kampung" then "Off to the Fantasy Theme Park")
Pre-quests needed to fight these bosses.

91+ - Temple of Time (Temple Keeper)
Completing these quests allow you to progress further into the Temple. There are mobs that drop valuable equips/scrolls along the way so it doesn't hurt to get started early.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Equipment

Unfortunately, you'll need to use the Free Market to get a lot of your equipment as they don't come by easily. At least stars aren't limited by your level so you can use them whenever. Tobi and Steely should be easy to find for cheap prices as they commonly drop from the mobs many people train on in this server. 60% scrolls should also be relatively cheap.

My general rule of thumb for scrolling is to stop if you fail 3 scrolls on a 7 slot item and 2 scrolls on a 5 slot item. I recommend scrolling your equipment with 60% scrolls since you should be dedicating your riskier 30% scrolls on end game equipment.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    HP Washing

This is a concept first discovered on GMS by Tiger where you can have more HP than usual, while having the same amount of damage. It's a hot topic because you literally can't go on any boss runs if you don't have the HP to survive their hits. This class doesn't get the HP needed to survive boss hits within a reasonable time frame so this is the method that many people use to remedy that issue.

    Here are the basics
You get an additional 1MP for every 10 INT (from any source) upon leveling up. This gets stored as excess MP. Every 12 points of excess MP can be exchanged into HP with an AP Reset.

You get more HP when using fresh AP points from leveling up than using an AP Reset.

You can’t take away more than the minimum (ex. Can’t take away STR if you have 4 base STR)

Here are some links for HP washing
    https://forum.maplelegends.com/index.php?threads/hp-washing.2713/
    https://forum.maplelegends.com/index.php?threads/advanced-hp-wash-calculator-v0-41.16508/

    When can/should I start washing?
It can be done at any level, but it's best to start as soon as you create the character.

Do I really need to wash?

If you want to start bossing early, yes. However, the patches that MapleLegends has implemented over time has made this less difficult to do.

    Blood Washing?
It’s putting points into HP only.

    Ending
Randomly decided to play this game again and cringed over this guide so I thought I'd spruce it up a little. It's still far from perfect, but I hope this was less confusing and more concise.

I'm DYLanXLusoren on Discord and Twitter, but I'm not as knowledgeable on the game as I was before. I'll try to help if I can though.

    - Make things more pretty?

    Introduction

The previous version is absolute garbage, and I didn’t want any uninformed people getting shafted by that guide, so I’m revised it. I still want to thank LiesDotCom (deribou), Riuscz, and NFSbow (FREE THIS MAN PLEASE) for inspiring me to make the baseline. Shoutouts to Fistacuffs and Pillarist for giving me the motivation to update this guide

Even though this isn’t technically a Night Lord guide, I will mention some 4th job related things as this guide should be used to set-up for 4th job.

If you want to make an Assassin, prepare yourself and your virtual wallet.

Two databases I have used is http://poof.ml/ and https://bbb.hidden-street.net/

    HiddenStreet isn’t a v62 database and poof.ml is incomplete

Poof is currently updating it the poof.ml website, so it'll be more reliable as time goes on

For now, I would use HiddenStreet for map location and exchange quests. Use Poof.ml for equip and mob stats.

Use you judgement and test to the best of your ability when using these sites

    To Become a Rogue
    25 DEX

    If DEXless
    25 DEX

    If Low DEX
    50-70 DEX

    If Regular
Enough DEX to wear the next level equipment

Regular Assassins are garbage in my opinion. You don’t maximize the benefits you get from Maple Warrior (as it increases a percentage of your base stats, not stats gained from equipment) and you’ll have less damage because you have less LUK than a low DEX/DEXless assassin.
The only benefits you have over DEXless/Low DEX is that your equips have slightly more DEX and LUK on clean gear, more accuracy at the lower levels, and you have more WEP DEF which is pretty irrelevant in this version of Maplestory (v62).

So how do you equip your end game gear? Scrolling your equipment with DEX. As long as you have enough DEX from any source before equiping anything, you'll be able to equip it. (ex. Have 102 Base DEX and a helmet scrolled with 18 DEX will let you wear a Casters, which requires 130 DEX)

If you have the funds, DEXless is the way to go. You’ll be able to scroll all your gear with just enough to equip your end game claw. This is expensive as you would need a near perfect success rate with your scrolling.
If not, going low DEX is the best since you can save some money from scrolling your gear. Objectively, DEXless is better.

    Skill Order

In order to be efficient, you gotta know where to put your SP points. This is where this guide comes in.

    1st Job
    Order I Went With
    10 +1 Lucky 7
    11 +3 Nimble Body
    12 +3 Keen Eyes
    13 +3 Keen Eyes
    14 +2 Keen Eyes, +1 Lucky 7
    15 +3 Lucky 7

    26 +3 Nimble Body
    27 +3 Nimble Body
    28 +3 Dark Sight
    29 +3 Dark Sight
    30 +3 Dark Sight

    Summary
    20 Lucky 7
    20 Nimble Body
    8 Keen Eyes
    3 Disorder
    10 Dark Sight

    Explanation

You want some early points in Lucky 7, that's your damage skill, but then you go for Keen Eyes. I prefer having the range over damage early so that I can kite and snipe monsters better. You can max Lucky 7 first if you want though. Just switch the ordering between the two.

Disorder and Double stab are useless for Assassins as those two skills are for Bandits.

If you don't Dark Sight maxed, using it will override any speed buffs you had before using it
Max Dark Sight if you use it often or don't want to lose speed. If you don’t care about Dark Sight, max Nimble Body

    66 +3 Drain
    67 +3 Drain
    68 +3 Drain
    69 +3 Drain
    70 +3 Drain

    Summary
    30 Critical Throw
    20 Haste
    20 Claw Booster
    20 Claw Mastery
    3 Endure
    28 Drain

    Explanation
After Critical Throw, there's a lot of builds that is heavily preference based, but let's get the necessary information out of the way.

You're not at the stage where you need to carry a lot of stars and Claw Mastery has no effect on your Lucky 7 damage, only LUK does. For other classes, it is necessary, but not for Assassins. So Critical Throw is the way to go. Claw Mastery does help shorten the gap on your damage range, but that’s only for regular attack and Drain, not Lucky 7. Also, the amount of stars you carry isn’t important yet

You may think Drain is a waste initially, but it is a huge pot saver if you can weave it in or use it to finish off a monster that barely survives. You'll still need HP pots in case you can't drain, but it'll save you money
Endure isn’t that useful as you don't need more MP or HP when you go AFK and the amount of HP and MP you get while training isn't noticeable

It doesn’t what you max first after Critical Throw. If you’re doing party quests or partying a lot, Max Haste. If you’re grinding, max Claw Booster

    116 +3 Shadow Web
    117 +3 Shadow Web
    118 +3 Shadow Web
    119 +3 Shadow Web
    120 +3 Shadow Web

    Summary
    30 Shadow Partner
    30 Avenger
    20 Flash Jump
    20 Alchemist
    20 Meso Up
    19 Shadow Web

    Explanation
This is where you start to have fun. Although Shadow Partner is a huge star drainer, your damage will increase significantly once maxed, or at least until it can last for 3 minutes. Until then, you're stuck with using Lucky 7 only. You can max Avenger first if you value mobbing, but I wouldn’t use it until you can hit 6 mobs with it.

Lucky 7 uses 4 stars and Avenger uses 6 if you have Shadow Partner active.

You only need a couple of points into Flash Jump as it is pure mobility and drains your MP surprisingly fast if you spam it too much.

Alchemist is the reason why I love Hermits over any other class. At max level, it increases the effectiveness and duration of potions by 150%. So a 1000 MP pot restores 1500 instead and an 8 minute pot becomes 12 minutes. It may seem insignificant, but you'll be buying plenty of pots, and you'll find yourself with more money than other players after you do the math.

Meso Up is useful, but only towards the max levels as it only lasts 2 minute at max level and not a priority (unless you’re purely making a meso up mule).

After Flash Jump, you'll have all the necessary skills maxed out, but you'll still have 30 points remaining. You can use these points to either max out Nimble Body, Dark Sight, Drain, and Endure. Shadow Meso and Shadow Web are completely useless. You can put points into them if you want to see what they do or for the dank memes.

After Shadow Partner and Avenger, what you max is completely up to you

Max Meso Up if you want more money

Max Alchemist if you want to save on pot money

Max Flash Jump if you want more mobility

    56-64 Voodoo

    65-69 Windraider

70-93 Kid Mannequin for money, Windraider for exp.

    95-105 NightShadow, Headless Horseman

105-120 NightShadow, Headless Horseman, BF/Skele/Petri Leech
Assassins don't have any mobbing skills and Hermits only have Avenger, which is only okay. If you can tag along with someone with a warrior or mage to these areas, you'll be set.
Holy Symbol should be used for all of these places

58 MP3/GS2 (Party with anybody who has mobbing skills, 2 party members at MP3, one partner at GS2)
75 Wolf Spiders (Party with Warriors or Mages)
    89 Galloperas (Party with Anybody)
94 Spirit Vikings (Party with Mages or mobbers)
95 Dreamy Ghost (Party with Priest and/or Chief Bandit)
100 Giant Spirit Viking (Party with Mages or mobbers

    Beginner
Your beginner life is straight forward and, like any non-strless class, pretty rough.
Completing all the quests will get you to lvl 10, but if you're efficient, you don't need to do all of them. Here the ones that are important though

Protect Lucas's Farm for a random Work Glove. The Work Glove can either net you some good money in the FM or a nice equip to keep as you can either scroll it or just have a tiny stat boost.
Do the Shopping quiz from Yoona for 100 MP pots (go to the cash shop and search for the Shopping guide) and a Relaxer from Pio.

Over-leveling is fine since skill points is compensated, but HP and MP gains are not. So try to avoid doing that.

    1st Job Rogue
This is where it all begins. Don't fret over the small details of what equips, stars, pots, and etc to have (unless you are HP washing). Just pray to RNGesus for good stuff or just work with the consistent drops.

I recommend doing KPQ (20 times) until you get Squishy Shoes since it gives an extra stat boost.

I found Ant Tunnel 1+2 to be ok for your high 10s and low 20s. It will be rough since you have to tank the monsters and you don't have enough "Jump" to jump over the dudes and shoot, but it's still ok XP if you aren't willing to do quests or PQ. After that, transition into Wild Boars in the "The Land of Wild Boar 1" until you hit lvl 30. It's much better and they drop more valuable stuff

    Here's a Leveling guide.

    2nd Job Assassin
And this is when things start getting interesting, but you're still far off from having that Assassin feel.

Go to Ariant and complete the quests there. You’ll have to look up what to in order to note waste time, but it’s fun and you’ll be able to get to Lvl 35 or close. You can also grind on the mobs for a short bit as well, or just go to Teddies until you can LPQ.

For LPQ, Assassins (or a Bandit) is necessary to complete stage 5 and kill the some of the mobs on Stage 7 (an Archer can also do this). Having an Assassin for an LPQ party was either a must or heavily requested, but they were rare. So if you do decide to LPQ, you’ll be able to find a party quickly and start hammering away at it. It’s good XP if you can complete it within 20min, which is why I mention it here. You can also get Broken Glasses after completing it 35 times. It’s an eye accessory that gives +1 of every stat and +20 HP and MP.

If an LPQ party takes too long to form or you don’t like party quests, you can train at Lupin and Zombie Lupins. I guess you could do Chronos, Platoon Chronos, and Master Chronos, but best to do it with a party. You can train there if you don’t want to go back and forth to Victoria Island for LPQ.

After your LPQ levels, you got 2 choices. Either continue doing party quests (OPQ and PPQ are ok EXP if you have a good party) or grind

    3rd Job Hermit
This is where people to start to fizzle out. (I, being an example of one). Make sure you got stuff in the background or a party to keep you accountable for training.

You can still go to WR until your 80s, but Kid Mannequins are amazing since they don’t hit too hard and can be easily mobbed. Kid Mannequins give less exp, but they auto aggro you, so they bunch up and they don't have any special attacks, so you can Dark Sight/Flash Jump to avoid them and then just Avenger away. You also get more money here through drops. So it's up to you where you want to train. Either way, not a lot of variety.

Because you only have Avenger as a mobbing skill, your options are pretty limited.

For those OG players, you’ll remember Wolf Spider, Squid, Risell Squid, Death Teddy, and Jr. Newties. I don’t list them out because of how oppressive it is. They either hit too hard, too tanky, have a low spawn rate, or simply too annoying to hit (ex. big hitbox, awkward platform sniping). If you wanna be even more frustrated while training, by all means, go ahead and train there when you’re lvl 80-95.

People also buy leech at this stage because of either laziness or because they are HP washing. I do hope you don't. :(

    Quests

These quests are either for convenience or for bossing. I put the name of the exact quests so if you have trouble completing the quest/finding the NPCs, you can search them on bbb.hidden-street.net. I put the names of the quest in between quotation marks.

    30 "Bartol's Request"
You'll get warp cards that let you go from Nautilus Harbor to Omega Sector (part of Ludibrium) instantly without having to take the boats. You’re just doing errands within the same ship, so it’s nothing difficult. You only get 5 per character, but it’s a time saver.

    30 "Collecting Huckle's Magic Ingredients"
Going from Orbis to El Nath takes forever and you'll need to go to El Nath in your later levels so whenever you're in Orbis, take the time to complete this quest. You can do this daily and the scrolls add up.

    30 "Disgruntled Roly-Poly Worker"/"The Lost Guard"
Same thing for Collecting Huckle's Magic Ingredients, but with the the scrolls needed for the Ludibrium Eos Tower. Not as important as the Orbis Rock Scroll as the areas you need to go to aren't as important, so you don't need to do this whenever you can. Quests is repeatable daily though.

50 "Subani's Legacy" and "Lost!" Quest line
Shameless plug, but I made a guide on how to do the important NLC quests. https://forum.maplelegends.com/index.php?threads/nlc-stuff.19088/#post-146995

    50 Zakum Pre-Req
If you’re planning on doing end game bossing and have HP washed a bit, do this for your helmet. Otherwise, you won’t be able to survive a hit from Zakum and it costs a lot for newcomers. You need 30 Gold Teeth, which has a low drop rate, therefore a high price in FM. There are 3 parts to this. The 1st part is best done with a party, but the 2nd part can be done solo, though the Jump Quest is super frustrating and a pot burner if you mess up a lot (since the floor is lava). 3rd part is just turning in the teeth. You get the Eye of Fire needed to enter Zakum and spawn him after completing all 3 parts.

80 "In Search of the Book of the Ancient" and "Alcaster and the Dark Crystal"
This is where you'll be able to buy your summoning rocks needed for Shadow Partner. Reason why I recommended going at a later level rather than do it as soon as you hit 60 is because one of the mob you need to kill for the item is Lvl 75 so unless have the HP or plan on buying the quest items, just go at a later level.

90 Papulatus Pre-Reqs (Starts with "Protect Ludibrium"), Ghost Hunter Bob, and Scarlion pre-reqs (Starts with "Away from Kampung") quests
You need to do the pre-reqs in order to kill these bosses in your 4th job, if you ever plan on bossing. Plan to do it with a party to make it much easier on yourself. Ghosthunter Bob is optional, but since you’ll get some of the etc. drops from doing the Papulatus pre-reqs, if you want to try to finish it off, you’ll get some extra XP.

    91-101 Temple of Time
XP here is bad since the mobs are really tanky and you need a party to make any decent progress. Quests give good ok XP and some of the mobs drop really good stuff, but you need to have amazing gear and either be washed or have HB to survive some of hits. I also don’t recommend going here until you’re well off into your 4th job, but the option is here if you prefer questing over pure grinding.

    HP Washing

This is a concept first discovered on GMS by Tiger where you can have more HP than usual, while having the same amount of damage. However, it requires you to have points into INT and/or wearing equips with INT. Why would you do this? Well, Hermits are glass cannons. In order to compensate, you HP wash so that you have more HP than a normal Hermit.

    Here are the basics
You get an additional 1MP for every 10 INT (from any source) upon leveling up. This gets stored as excess MP, which lets you exchange that when using an AP reset

You get more HP when using fresh AP points from leveling up than using an AP Reset

You can’t take away more than the minimum (ex. Can’t take away anymore STR if you have 4 base STR)

Here are some guides on HP washing
    https://forum.maplelegends.com/inDEX.php?threads/hp-washing.2713/
    https://forum.maplelegends.com/index.php?threads/advanced-hp-wash-calculator-v0-41.16508/

    When can/should I start washing?
You can and should start when you make the character, though it can technically be done at any level. If you’re seriously considering making an NL for end game bossing, start as soon as you create your character, or else you’ll need hell of a lot more INT to make up for the earlier levels, therefore using more vote cash for AP resets.
To start, roll with 10 INT, then get it up to 30, then get 25 base DEX to become a Rogue.

Do I really need to wash?
If you want to boss in a reasonable time frame, level wise, yes. If you just want to enjoy the game as it was intended, no. This is a huge controversial topic in the Legends community, but for now, it comes to how you want to play the game. If you plan on playing this server for a long time, it’s probably worth it. If you’re doing it for nostalgia, don’t bother.

    Blood Washing
It’s just putting points into HP instead of doing the MP and INT takeaways.
