Concerned about Dragon Fury stunning now

    This new feature of Dragon Fury being able to stun with Aura of the Beholder active has gotten me concerned enough to write a strongly worded letter.

    No, but I am concerned. Mainly because when I'm mobbing, enemies won't follow me because they're too busy trying to shake off 3 seconds of stun. That makes grinding far more frustrating.

    I talked with some other players and they have mentioned certain benefits like cwk guardians having their curse animations interrupted making them easier to farm. Or magic attacks being cancelled allowing you to get away with using fewer pots. But the game being easier does not make it better. I quit playing my i/l because the gameplay was nothing more than standing in one place and freezing mobs to death. It was mind numbing. I really hate to see DK go down the same route as it's one of the most fun classes for grinding.

    "But then doesn't enemies being stunned and refusing to follow you add to the challenge you so crave?" Well, no, because that's not challenge, that's just waiting longer for enemies to follow you, which makes things more frustrating, not more fun. Especially since it wasn't like that when I started.

    Just my thoughts on the subject.

    If you opted for not having your beholder out when grinding in those instances would that be too big of an issue?

    I would be losing out on valuable weapon mastery. Not ideal at all.

    EDIT: This could be incorrect. Going by various descriptions of what the skill does via library, it seems to imply that weapon mastery is permanently passive while only damage return is active while the skill is on. If this is true, Aura can be left off during training with no real downside aside from no damage return. If someone can confirm or deny this it would be very helpful.

    It does not imply that at all, I just read the wrong skill description.

    You would miss out on hex if you have points in hex, so the +15 att and accuracy/avoid/defense bonuses but if the stuns bother you that much I think it's a worthy tradeoff. You indeed do not lose out on the weapon mastery as that applies regardless of whether you have beholder out or not.

    Alright, now that I understand how it all works I would say then that my concerns stand. As someone who plays MapleStory to grind, I really do not like this change.

    Doesn't rush target the same amount of mobs as fury?

    [Edit] Rush hits MORE than fury, by 4 more mobs. I understand that fury has a much larger range, but I feel as though the extra bonuses from the beholder change are a better trade off. You can use Magnet and rush tech instead of just spamming fury to group, which imo sounds better.

    That is true. But I also don't want to stun mobs while farming at all. It's not fun. What if you get knocked back while using Dragon Fury and mobs that are stunned are now out of your attack range? Normally they'd make their way back to you but now they won't for another 3 seconds.

    "Just turn off aura", sure, but ideally I shouldn't have to handicap my damages just to grind.

    (speaking as a Shad player) I've always kind of enjoyed the stun when I'm mobbing because then they stop running towards me (then I might get hit by touch damage). Having the mobs sit there while I bstep them is nice cuz they are static and don't run away from me.

    It's not an issue if you just stand there and bstep / cleave until the mobs are dead, which is usually how I mob. Then I move onto the next group of mobs. But I can see it being a pretty jarring change if you're using to grabbing aggro and luring them into a big crowd, and then killing them.

    Maybe you can try this other way of rotating mob killing instead of grabbing aggro, and it'll feel nicer with the fury stun changes :)

    if stun is an issue because they don't follow you and bunch up, then i would try to rush them together first and THEN kill/stun them. What do you think about this idea?

    Or heck just roar / magnet if they’re too far away both skills have way more range than fury and dont stun
