Completed Unscheduled Maintenance: May 13, 2024

We will be performing Unscheduled Maintenance on Monday May 13. It will last approximately 30 minutes. Upon completion, the game will be brought back online and service will be restored. Once restored, you can log in and play!

(8 PM CEST)

What will be unavailable:

• All MapleLegends game servers and channels
• Merchants will be closed
• In-game name change requests using @changeign are automatically processed

Changes and Updates:

• Fixing a critical bug that was discovered / more info after maintenance

Today we were made aware of an exploit that was discovered. The way this was done was by using at least permits together with a feature that can only be done using packets. When it comes to permits, there's a lot of things I wanted do with it years ago. The issue right now with Permits in MapleLegends is that they offer absolutely no benefit on why you should open them versus Hired Merchants. On the top of that, they were need of a re-code for a really long time (as much as a lot of this ancient code have to be, unfortunately). After this exploit came into light we have completely blocked 1 method that was used to exploit it, which again, could only be done with a packet editor. To be extra safe we've also decided to block Permits for now, due to their niche use and because we feel they are currently not fit with our current standards. Basically, its extremely underused on the top of them being an easy target for critical exploits.

Even though the way those exploits get delivered to us could be better, I still want to thank the person for letting us know about it anyway, it is appreciated.

EDIT: Lastly, I want to mention if you do find the person responsible for showcasing the exploit outside of anything from MapleLegends to not harass them or anything. It doesn't help the situation and may discourage them from doing so in the future.

 

Also "items sold" was completely uncoded still as far as I remember from permits.

 

Yeah I just noticed she said exactly that. But yeah, it felt unfinished in general.
