    How to HP Wash a Buccaneer to 30k.

    Disclaimer - I have not personally made a Buccaneer. This post was made to document and consolidate the advice of others.

    Update - September 2023 - This post was done in collaboration with RerazeReraze. The original post (in the spoiler below) was written to ask the community a question about washing. However, since the creation of the original post, I do believe this quote from Rerazed better explains the process:
    We've been crunching the numbers to get a Buccaneer to 30k HP.

    > How's this look?

    Disclaimer

    I have not personally tested these numbers. Use this information as general guidance how to approach washing a buccaneer, but in regards to the actual details your experience may vary.

    What's the goal?

    To have 30k HP and 3.5k MP at level 180.

    What's the cost?

    It will take 215 MP Washes, 520 Fresh HP Washes, and a grand total of 3 million NX. (And only a little bit of sanity.)
    That's 1.4 million NX to MP Wash and Reset INT, and 1.6 million NX on Fresh HP Washing.

    This build creates a surplus 8,480 MP that can be converted into 20,140 HP with Fresh HP Washing.

    Levels 1-10

    Roll for 11 INT. Put Fresh AP into INT, and 20 into DEX for the Job Advancement.

    Levels 10-33

    Put Fresh AP into INT.

    Levels 33-46
    - Fresh HP Wash

    ...at level 33 we'll have maxed 'Improve MaxHP'

    Put Fresh AP into HP. Use AP Resets to move MP to INT.

    Levels 46-89 - MP Wash

    ...at level 46 we'll have reached our Base INT'

    Put Fresh AP into MP. Use AP Resets to move MP to STR.

    Levels 89-180 - Fresh HP Wash

    ...at level 89 we should have reached our MP goals

    ...at level 140 we'll reset our Base INT to start washing

    Put Fresh AP into HP. Use AP Resets to move MP to STR.

    Requirements:

    This build needs at least 230 Base INT, 90 INT from equips, mw20, and 140 levels of leeching until you can reset the Base INT.

    Thoughts?

    Update!

    Based on the original post, we may have to mix in a few levels of MP Washing in order to stay above the Minimum MP needed for Fresh HP Washing. This means that for levels ~33-46, even though we're not at our max Base INT, we'll be missing in 2 MP Washes for every 3 HP Washes (on average).

    The key numbers of our projections are:
    • For 30k HP / 3.5k MP
    • Base INT of 270.
    • Stop MP Washing at 80.
    • Carry Base INT until 140.
    • Wear 80 INT from equips.
    • After level 33 (MaxHP skill maxed), use every Fresh AP possible to Fresh HP Wash.
    • Reach target HP by level 170.
    • Total cost: 2.97m NX

    Update!

    These calculations were make in collaboration with RerazeReraze, who after hours of research and leveling this character, wrote a really great summary as to this build:

    That's nice!! Do you remember your Base INT target, as well as when you stopped MP washing? I love the idea of resetting base int earlier to have a character that doesn't need quite as much leech at higher levels!

    * Clean, unwashed HP @ 200 = 9,826 HP
    * HP equips = 1,400 HP
    * Total unwashed HP @ 200 = 11,226 HP

    * HP deficit to 30k = 18,774 HP
    * Fresh HP washes required = 494 washes
    * MP required for washes = 7,904 MP

    * (Using 300 base INT from levels 65-155)
    * Total INT on level w/ mw = 330 INT
    * MP gain per MP wash = 28 MP
    * MP gained from levels = 2,970 MP

    * Remaining MP needed from MP washes = 4,934 MP
    * MP washes needed = 176 washes

    Total Resets Needed:
    Fresh HP Washes: 494 resets
    MP Washes: 176 resets
    INT resets: 296 resets

    Total Resets: 966 resets (~3m NX)

    There's simply too many variables to make a one-size fits all wash plan. Even without factoring int gear it's your typical pick two out of 3 scenario: low base int, remove int earlier, cheaper overall cost. Each with benefits/drawbacks to optimize around, changing the target int quite a bit. And then add in everyone's differing levels of int gears and no two washes are the same.

    As far as process goes, I'd say the outline rerazed provides is generally sound minus the "mp wash if you don't have enough mp to hp wash" while not at your target int. There's enough ap to spare to not need to mp wash below target int cap, unless you *really* want a bit more hp earlier and are willing to pay extra for it.

    Great points! Thanks iPippyiPippy! When we started out trying to build the calculator, we were surprised that your guide was one of the few, if not only definitive Bucc resources!

    At first I was shocked, but slowly came to realize... as you say "no two washes are the same", and began to understand why it was so hard to create a guide for washing buccs!

    How do we reach base int of 270 if we stop putting point in int by 46? You also say to use every fresh ap possible to fresh hp wash but how do I do that if im also mp washing at the same time?

    Correct. If you choose a Base INT of 270, you'll be continuing to increase INT beyond level 46.

    Every Fresh AP should be used for either a HP Wash, or a MP Wash. If you can do an HP Wash, do so. If you can't do an HP Wash, then continue to MP Wash until you have created enough MP.

    I know this thread is overly confusing. It was written to ask questions, but I do understand some people have read it as if it was a definitive guide.

    I'm overdue for creating a version of this information that's more definitive, an easier to understand. In the meantime, rows 38 through 42 of the spreadsheet linked above show just one possible way to plan a buccaneer, and a level by level example that might help to explain the concepts.

    Is 3.5k mp considered comfortable for buccs?

    Yes. Buccs have relatively low MP usage and can recover 3k Mp every 30 sec, which is overkill
