I'm creating a F/P mage to sell leech and I'm thinking about capping him at a certain level in order to sell leech more effectively. However the lower the level at the more I have to spend on equipment to reach 1HKO on Petri. Does anyone know how the exp sharing formula works in regards to character level? Has anyone does this before? Is there any recommended threshold that you would cap your character if it's entire purpose is to be a leech seller?

Probably the only time worth level capping a mage for leeching, is when you have a bishop for low-level leeching future chars you have planned. At that point, you either cap at 120, or 126 for MW19

    The relevant calculation is:
The XP per leecher is leecherlevel/total party level * half of xp of mob(Which is a flat number based on party size, the mob in question, and the level of HS.)
That means at most each level up is about 0.35% xp (assuming level 150 for kill and 108 for leecher)
If you sell solo/duo a lot this can be quite a number. The difference 10 levels make is the difference between 3.1 and 3.2.

This is a good call-out that party size matters a lot. Since, the more buyers you have, the lower your avg. party level is going to be. This is especially true in cases such as Petri, where it's very likely that you'll have multiple buyers.

"How much does seller to leecher level difference make?"

While I'm not sure on the exact formulas, it's something like this...

Our example is going to be a level 75 buyer, at Wolf Spiders (2,400 EXP).

    Approx. formula:

    Level 75 leecher, 128 seller:

    (2400*((.8*(75/(75+128))*1.5))+(.1*2400) = 1304 per leecher

    Level 75 leecher, 200 seller:

    (2400*((.8*(75/(75+200))*1.5))+(.1*2400) = 1024 per leecher

With a 200 seller vs. 128 seller the buyer would get 1024/1304 = 21% less exp

    Four 75 leechers, 128 seller:

    (2400*((.8*(75/(75+75+75+75+128))*1.5))+(.25*2400) = 1104 per leecher

    Four 75 leechers, 200 seller:

    (2400*((.8*(75/(75+75+75+75+200))*1.5))+(.25*2400) = 1032 per leecher

With a 200 seller vs. 128 seller the buyers would each get 1104/1032 = 7% less exp

Now, to address the OP's question, let's do this for Petri

    Four 105 leechers, 160 seller:

    (4550*((.8*(105/(105+105+105+105+160))*1.5))+(.25*2400) = 1588 per leecher

    Four 105 leechers, 200 seller:

    (4550*((.8*(105/(105+105+105+105+200))*1.5))+(.25*2400) = 1524 per leecher

So it's a 4% difference per buyer if your Petri leech seller is level-capped at 160 vs. 200

Is this right? Let me know if you have a better formula/example on hand.

Disclaimer: I haven't tested these numbers, this is just napkin math based on the above linked formulas.

I mean, if the character's goal is leech selling and NOTHING else, and also see yourself doing it for a very long time, then I could see it being worthwhile to start suiciding back to 0% at the end of every leech session as long as you can 1 hit all mobs you ever plan do on that character. I understand the vast majority of players (myself included) don't care enough to optimize to that degree, but for those that do, they may as well. It only takes a couple minutes and the profit from doing so would add up over a long time period.

There's also value in low level FP (+pure dex archer/warrior for last hit if the leecher can't do it) too, for poison boosting, if we move beyond just mages using ult.
