Update General Patch Notes: Halloween 2024

Welcome to the general Patch notes for the Halloween 2024 patch!

In addition to the event, this patch brings a lot of minor updates, and various client (v1.27) changes.

General Changes

• The Halloween Event is now active! The post will be linked here at a later time.
  • The Freemarket Entrance received a seasonal makeover!
  • As it's part of this year's event, the Butler PQ has been altered:
    • PQ time is now 7 minutes (down from 10).
      This time however only counts until the Library fireplace riddle is solved.
    • Ghost catching stage has a separate 4-minute timer.
    • Library shelves no longer need to be touched in a specific order, to solve the riddle.
    • Maximum speed and jump is now granted in the Library and Ghost catching stages.
    • The prize structure is changed:
      25 ghosts award one Raffle ticket + 1 Olivia entrance;
      Each 5 additional ghosts grant 10 Green Malady Candies.

• The server message (scrolling banner) logic has been revamped.
  • Characters in instances will not see server messages.

• Bosses are now able to Banish into different maps.
  • Currently, this is only used in Halloween event content.

• Core Blaze can now drop a new and fully custom Chair design.

• Pets can now learn skills.
  • The currently existing skills are Pet Recall and Auto Speak.
    
  • Bartos, in Henesys Pet Park, will have two quests that teach those skills.
    
  • The quests are repeatable; each completion teaches the skill to the first equipped pet only.
    
  • The quests will appear only if the first equipped pet is eligible to learn the skill:
    • Must not have learnt the skill already;
      
    • Must be one of the 6 Robo Pets.

Client updates

• The client no longer sends a fake spacebar input after the player inputs their password.
  • This was used to trigger the automatic opening of the PIN code window, but it was reported to also cause "phantom space bar hits" in various cases.
    
  • For the time being, the PIN code window will again require a manual key press to open, after password input.

• Corrected an RTTI check on player object during monster movement update.
  • This should help against the Puppet and Hypnotize runtime errors. It may not solve them completely, in which case we will get back on it.

• Added support for monster attacks with cooldown.
  • Traditionally, only skills can be affected by cooldown; we believe that adding this feature to attacks will open up new potential gameplay options to explore.
  • Currently, this is only used in the reworked fight with The Boss.

• Monsters can now require a specific weapon, in order to be damaged.
  • Currently, this is only used in Halloween event content.

• The expiration date in an item tooltip now follows the format "YYYY/MM/DD hh:mm".

• A new ini setting is available: "RaiseDamageLines".
  • If set to true, damage lines over all monsters will be displayed higher, and will no longer cover monster buff/debuff icons.

• Support for custom UIs is now fully implemented.
  • A few interfaces will be tested behind the scenes, before being released to the public in an upcoming patch.

• The command "/petcome" has been reimplemented.
  • It had been replaced, in the past, in favor of "/alliance" command.
    
  • "/alliance" command still works correctly.

• Added a new custom face expression, "Takoyaki".
• Mr. Thunder's refine now correctly communicates when the player has no room to receive refined ores, instead of abruptly ending the script.
  
• Fixed the spelling of a MapleTip: "There are bad apples everywhere".

Items:

• "Victoria's Amorian Basket" can now stack up to 20 per slot.
  
• Urban Fungus monster card entry no longer includes a glitched item.
• Untradeable Timeless equipment that already obtained experience (Timeless Pendant) can now be dropped, and will disappear upon drop.
  
• The following pets have had their chat balloon and name tag styles correctly imported:

• "Maple Canon Shooter" name has been corrected to "Maple Cannon Shooter".

• "Wild Cargo Card": monster name has been corrected to Kargo.
  
• "Homunculu Card": monster name has been corrected to Homunculus.
  
• "Wild Amulet" description now mentions a ferocious drake, instead of a boar.
  
• "Cat's Eye" now correctly mentions being dropped by Meercat, instead of Meowcat.
  • The Meowcat has been adequately petted in exchange.
• "Death Scythe" weapon has been reimported, to fix various frame issues.
  
• "W Ramen" can now be searched via Owl of Minerva.
• Myo Myo can now be used in sign up map for Horntail: Entrance to Horntail's Cave

Maps:

• "Tent of the Entertainers": a broken portal link has been removed.
• Teleporters have been added to move around Altaire Camp (Ellin Forest).
• The top platforms footholds on 2102 Roppongi Mall - Top Floor have been relayered, the player now appears in front of the Summoned Aufheben mobs

Mobs:

• Some of the pillars in Crimsonwood Keep PQ no longer have a misaligned sprite.
  
• Trailing space has been removed from the names of the following monsters:

Npcs:

• The Sleepywood Hotel receptionist's dialog now shows a proper name for the sauna entrance script.
• Big Headward and Plastic Roy will now always have an option for the player to spend a coupon from the latest event before the current one.
  • This was added as a special feature due to the short downtime between Anniversary and Summer events, and is now being included as a permanent fixture.

Quests:

• "History Has Not Changed" (Ellin questline end): exp prize shown in the dialog now correctly reflects the pre-multiplier value, like other quests do.
  • Quest gain is not changed.
• "Keeny's Research on Roid": a missing text color terminator has been added, and the quest info syntax is now correct.
  
• "Eliminate the Skeletons": The name of Officer Skeletons has been corrected in the quest log.
  
• A new repeatable quest has been added: "Eat This! - Retrieving the Omni Key". It will be available for players who completed the "Eat This!" questline, but have lost their Omni Key.
  
• "Yulete's Reward" no longer appears in the available quests tab; it is now triggered manually by talking with Yulete.

Skills:

• Meso Guard now sends a chat message when the player runs out of mesos.
