If I remember correctly, a system similar to this was implemented in Diablo III. Essentially, once you equipped an item, that "skin" was saved, and you could apply that look to other weapons/armor you equipped. Certainly helped get more diversity in the look and feel of characters while staying thematic to the game.

100% support this and I don’t really see any downsides. More customization and the classic equipment gets more use (extra nostalgia).

 

Fusion Anvils?

 

Ngl vanilla thief and mage gear is pretty ballin so I'm excited for this

 

I want this! Awesome to see that its a possibility to be added in the future

 

Maybe this can be used as a meso sink as well. Let anvils cost mesos and the NX covers you make will expire in 90 days?

 

But what about us that chose timeless largely in part for the esthetics how will I ever financially recover

Kind of salty about timeless stuff being a cover ngl I get compliments ever once in awhile its a little dopamine boost.

 

This might be too soon to make as a side-suggestion seeing as no implementation details have been shared, but I hope NX covers are limited to equips that are overwhelmingly inferior in their archetype. For example, there is no practical reason to build a Blue Screamer when Dragon Claymore is a far stronger Normal-6 2H sword with no trade-offs aside from level req. On the other hand, Red Katana is the strongest Fast-4 Dexless sword, so I don't think it should be available as a skin despite being a lv 70 weapon.

Not to sound like a snobby elitist, but there is a sense of pride and accomplishment for building a particular equip for its aesthetic and/or role in the game. I think a lot of that would be lost if we were able to for example cover a NT Claw with a Dragon Purple Sleve, because a lot of the value in the DPS is due to its rarity and purple-ness

 

i like this idea because you can use weak equipment to fit your character. the n logo should be c for covers as non-nx equipment.

 

Ah yeah I made this suggestion like 2 years ago or so and though it would bring amazing life back into the game just from playing dressup with classic clothes. Great stuff.
