    Welcome to our balance changes thread for the December 2024 Patch! While the main focus of this update was the Christmas event, we’ve again managed to sneak in a few changes, while they may seem small, their implications may be far reaching, let's check them out!

    「 Macro change 」
    • Attacking skills (NOT Buffs) can only be placed ONCE (no multiple copies) in the in-game skill macro
    • Ults (Meteor Shower, Blizzard, Genesis, Dragon Roar) can now be placed in the in-game skill macro
    Macro-ing multiple copies of the same attacking skills in a skill macro provides a relatively long window of time where players can deal continuous damage without interacting with the client. This has enabled strategies like juggling multiple clients with minimal effort, allowing players to scale their capabilities disproportionately.

    By removing the ability to include multiple copies of the same attacking skill in a skill macro, we are reducing the time window for casting attacking skills across clients. This change makes it harder to manage multiple clients and, more importantly, decreases the practicality of using larger and larger numbers of clients. While scaling via multiple computers remains an option, it requires more setup and is arguably more challenging due to the need to monitor multiple screens and multiple setups.

    We acknowledge that this change may also impact single-client players, particularly when chatting in-game without compromising damage output. However, we believe this adjustment is a necessary tradeoff for better game balance.

    「 Party Quest "Adventurer Scroll" 」
    • Players can now obtained the "Adventurer Scroll" item, which allows teleportation to maps with specific party quest (PQ) NPCs.
    • Clearing the specific PQ will reward a one-time use teleport on the Adventurer Scroll.
    Upon reaching Lith Harbour at level 10, Rosa will now offer a quest that rewards the "Adventurer Scroll" item. This item allows the character to teleport to maps containing specific party quest (PQ) NPCs. Initially, no teleport options are available upon receiving the item. Teleports become available as a one-time use after clearing the related PQ. The one-time teleport can be repeatedly obtained but will not stack; only one use is available at a time.

    One of the major hurdles getting PQ parties together is the amount of travel to reach certain PQs just to find the lobby empty. We implemented this transportation to allow for players to return to the PQ lobby once a party is ready to start a PQ. There will be additional PQ updates in the future, so please look forward to them!

    「 Weapon Speed 」
    • Certain 1H Axes, 2H Axes, and 2H Maces have their weapon attack speed faster by 1.

    Certain warrior weapon categories had a number of weapons that suffered from slower swing speeds compared to their counterparts in addition to having worse average swing/stab multipliers. This change will allow players who opt to use these off-meta weapon types to perform reasonably in the early to mid game.

    「 Style Saver 」
    • The cost for using Style Saver is now 2m (down from 10m), thanks for the suggestion here!
    The population of Style Saver users tends to consist of more casual players who do not engage in intense grinding. We believe it is fair for the meso sink here to not be overly taxing, making it more accessible and generally more welcoming to Fashionstory enthusiasts.

    「 Ephenia 」
    • Ephenia no longer have Strong resistance to Fire and Ice.
    • Added a custom made Queen of Fairies Throne available rarely through the drops from killing Ephenia.
    Paladins that used a weapon charge against Ephenia suffered damage reduction from both of Ephenia's strong against neutral and strong against elemental affinites. Removing the Strong resistance to Fire and Ice now allows Paladin to not be doubly penalized by elemental resistance, putting Paladins more on par with other classes in Ephenia. This change will also make Archmages and Archers to do slightly more damage through their summons, as they no longer suffer from the damage reduction.

    「 The Boss 」

    • Added a custom made The Boss Vault Chair available rarely through the drops from killing The Boss.

    We understand that there is a strong expectation and hope for the DK changes to come sooner than later. However, this is a large-scale project that requires more time to fully develop. As alluded by PastaPasta here, even in this patch, we are conducting custom interface testing that will be a part of the eventual DK update. We appreciate your patience as we work on bringing these changes to life.

    While there are many more changes we would like to do, we'll need to save them for another patch. As always, your sincere feedback is much appreciated!

    Little did I realize that me buying a foot pedal three years ago was future proofing for this macro nerf-- feels like this was a regressive change that only further promotes pay2win through multi computers and foot pedals. Perhaps I'm wrong but I don't think this was the balance change needed to target multi attacking or multi-NLs.

    Doesn't this facilitate multimaging (since macro's can be queued to go off after another skill)? I realise you can't queue 3 ults, but this does allow you to already queue up the ult to go off after you finish rebuffing.

    I'm not sure how I feel about bashing multiattacking in bossing while multimagers are effectively getting away with the same income (unless you factor in the 1 person soloing HT)

    Are there exceptions for attacking skills affected by this macro change?

    For example, the recoil-wings-recoil macro is such a big part of the slinger identity and a huge quality of life for the class. It sounds like that is no longer possible.

    I see this issue as similar one with multiclienting. for multiclienting, ML officially opened gate on everyone to be against p2w coming from multiple devices for fairness, but for multiatking coming from macro sweating using 1pc, seems ML went to 'p2w' method eventually, in opposite path of where they went multiclienting.

    Lol must have 2PC + foot pedal. If someone is sweaty enough to buy this kind of set up, why not? They're already an unstoppable force.
    Majority of players will want to play on just 1 PC and I personally like the nerf on triple attack macro.

    Yes, it's great step toward p2w because multiple device setup owners will be benefitted, for they don't need to compete with 1 device cheap sweaty multi attackers anymore.

    If nerfing multiattack itself was purpose of balance team, they should've thought how to apply it fairly on every players, not just killing 1 device and calling multiple device as 'challenging' which I can't even agree on.

    I'm okay with multiattack nerf as long as it's applied in fairness, on every players. but NOT in this way. This is nothing but 'get 2+ devices or you're screwed, won't be even allowed to compete with them. pay 1 more device if you want to compete, or, just deal with it'.

    Awesome awesome changes, almost shed a tear when I saw that axes and 2h maces are finally, FINALLY getting some love after all these years.

    Not to be dramatic but since I played osms i 2006 i've been revolted and confused at why neckson made these weapon classes trash in every single possible aspect, and this feels like them finally receiving something to attempt to bring them up to parity.

    Also fuck multiclient attacking, this macro nerf is a good babystep imo

    Multi PC setup with pedal gaming doesn't seem like a fair comparison to a single PC, multi-window, click 1 and cast triple atk macro.

    Maybe I'm wrong but the 2nd or 3rd PC set up with pedal seems way more work, not just to setup but also to operate.

    Issue is, sweaty players (including myself) will still multiattack with multiple devices and 1pc players won't ever have chance to compete with us, that's why I'm so against of this.

    I think the macro change is interesting and worth experimenting with.

    Just because a solution isn't perfect doesn't mean its not worth implementing/experimenting with. It's a whole lot better than letting multi-attacking continue unabated. maybe it'll work, maybe it wont. It's not like this is the final solution, if we find a better way to nerf multi-attacking, then we can swap to that solution. Changing policy, i feel like, is a bigger commitment than balance changes. Balance can be changes patch to patch, but policy shouldn't change patch to patch, otherwise it'll cause greater confusion.

    Mind you, i also don't think this is good thing, and I would 1000% be in support of something that fixes multi-attacking for both single and multi-computers. But its not like we're letting people buy meso in a real "pay2win" fashion, so I'm down to experiment with this balance change for a bit and see what happens. Besides, even before this change 2 device players always had advantage over 1 device players.

    I do agree with krythan that its sorta at odds with "multi-clienting once and for all" thread, but that thread was more about trying to use policy to fix the problem and this is more about using balance change to fix the problem.

    Ill be real if you're paying for multiple pcs and footpedals and all that just to have an in-game advantage on a kinda obscure private server of all things, maybe just let em have their thing at that point lmao
